Jessica’s POV
Grandfather and Aunt went back home because Grandfather was tired, thank God he is fine throughout this ordeal because his health is already fragile as it is and I wouldn’t want him to collapse or him to be upset.
The Doctor checked Xavier when we got back from the court house,
“Mr, Xavier congratulations, you are getting better and might be discharge next two weeks time but you will be coming for checkup every three days to check your condition”
“Thank you so much Doc, am really happy, thank you”
“You are welcome Ma’am, I will take my leave now”
“Okay then, bye”
I watch as the Doctor left, I turned to Xavier my face full of smiles and happiness,
“Seems like our vocation will work out”
“Yes Jess, am very happy everything will end soon and we will be happy together”
“Me too, am happy you are getting better and your parents got the justice they deserve, it has been long overdue”
“Yeah, I hope they are happy now, everything is alright now and I have everyone to thank for that especially you Jess, thank you for everything you did for me and my parents, we really appreciate”
“Xavier, am really not happy that you are thanking me for doing this, they are my in-laws too and if they were alive I would be calling them Ma and Pa, so I just did what any other daughter in-law would do for her mother in-law, so don’t insult me by thanking me when I was just doing this for them to bless us as couples, so you thanking me is spoiling things for me and am not happy about it”
“Am sorry if I hurt your feelings, I never Meant to do that I am just happy, that’s all Jess, and not all daughter in-laws will do that for their own mother talkmore of another ”
“I understand you, stop arguing with me, go to sleep and rest you need it if you want to be discharged next two weeks as the doctor said”
“Yes mum, I have heard you”
I laughed and helped him settle well in bed and tucked him in, once he is okay, I went outside out of the hospital, I entered a van that was packed at the parking lot, I sat at the passenger seat and folded my arms on my chest,
“Talk fast before I leave”
“Thank you Mrs Jessica for agreeing to meet me, I will go straight to the point as you want, Mr Marcus is protected by the the police, I think he did something, he is going to serve six months in prison secretly, he helped them with a top secret or something of that sort, he never really killed anyone, my member was killed by the father not him so I have no reason to go after him”
“Have you wondered why he said he is the one that did it? Of course you haven’t, so you mean to say he aided us in our investigation against his own father? I don’t belive that one bit”
“I woundn’t too if I were you, but am telling you the truth, you might not know this but Mr Marcus was abused violently by his father so he has no reason to love the man, it turned out that the police were investigating his father about drugs, his father sells drugs to the people in same business, entertainment industry and teenagers, but with no solid evidence against him, he couldn’t be arrested , so Mr Marcus took over to help them, he hasn’t committed any crime except his to his women”
“So that’s what happened? Okay then I have heard you, I will inform my husband about it, what about the fact that he ordered a hit on me?”
“That’s why am here, he asks you forgive him, you did nothing to him unlike your husband, and he knows I was going to work against him, that’s why he made that move, and all the information I sent to you guys was because he wanted me to know about them, so am also asking you forgive him”
“Okay, I have you well, tell him I will forgive him if he has an exclusive interview only with our company, if not am not forgiving shit….. What?! Think I can’t curse too, I do and I am”
“Thank you Mrs MacCartney I really appreciate a lot, I will be taking my leave now, thank you once again”
I left the van and watched as he drove off, I went back inside, this is really surprising, I couldn’t belive this, who would have thought that Marcus is actually human? I wouldn’t if I didn’t hear this, thank goodness he [Marcus’s father] has been locked up for good, now every one can breath.
Two weeks later, one sunny day we were discharged from the hospital, I have a surprise waiting for him back home and I hope he will like it, when we arrived home, I helped him inside while the help carried our bags, as soon he opened the door a loud bang sounded and flowers fall on us,
“Welcome back home Mr Xavier”
He turned to me smiling and it was so warm I wrapped my hand around him tightly like a bear, he whispered a small thank you to me, I smiled back, we went to the backyard that was reserved for barbecue to have a small welcome party, I invited few people from both our company to come celebrate with us so it was lively, everyone was happily eating and laughing.
Laura and Mike were being all lovey-dovey and grandfather teased them a lot, it was a very happy atmosphere, I looked at Xavier to know if he was enjoying himself but but he was staring at me instead, I blushed to the root of my head, I held his hand under the table and squeezed, We smiled at each other.
