Jessica’s POV
My aunt said while hugging me, I almost broke down at the warmth but I held it in, I won’t cry, grandfather patted me on the shoulder and sat down,
“Am sorry grandfather, he was trying to save me, am so sorry ”
“AHH this child, why are you apologising, he did well, I would have blamed him if he didn’t save you, he did well and it isn’t your fault okay ”
“…….”
“Stop, he is fine, stand up, he is fine okay, but you need to rest before you break down too, I heard you fell from a big height, go rest”
“Am fine grandfather, am worried he might look for me when he wakes up and I won’t be there”
“Uhumm, what did they doctors say?”
“They said the bullet had no exist and it’s location in his body is dangerous but they will try, and I know Xavier he is a fighter ”
“Yes, he will be fine”
“Come sit down here, let’s wait for him”
We were there when suddenly the nurses started running out from the operation room then coming back with blood and some stuffs I didn’t recognise, I stood up immediately, something is wrong, God please no, I can’t lose him please God, please.
One of the doctors from the operation room approached us, grandpa wanted to stand but thankfully my aunt wouldn’t let him,
“The patient went into an arrest and he is losing a lot of blood, thankfully we have his type in the bank, we are doing all we can for him don’t panic ”
I collapsed unto my chair, how could I not be worried, how could I not panic, it’s Xavier my HUSBAND they are talking about, my HUSBAND, I wanted to cry but I couldn’t, I wouldn’t,
“Doctor I want you to make sure my husband comes out from there alive ”
“We will try our best ma’am, excuse me”
He disappeared once again inside the place that holds my husband, grandfather wasn’t saying anything, he kept quiet throughout the doctor’s brief visit, I was a bit thankful for that because I am reaching my limit, I can feel throbbing on my temples and head and I don’t want anything to add on to it.
The surgery took a total of six hours, the doctors said it was the longest, that we have to wait for him to wake up that night, if not then the chances of survival according to the doctors will be low.
After another hour, I forced my aunt and grandfather to go home and get some rest, especially grandfather, I told him to come back tomorrow morning and see his grandson, he obliged.
I went into his room and looked at him, he looks so pitiful with all the machines connected to his already battered body, he looks nothing to his usual self, I laughed, loudly at that,
“Xavier if you could see the way you look right now, you would throw a tantrum, don’t worry I will take a picture and show you ”
I took many pictures of him, when I was done I sat down beside him,
“The police have started investigating Marcus, his family and the company, many have been arrested, they caught everyone and investigating them too, you have to wake up to be able…..”
His hand squeezed mine where I was holding him, my heart leaped, I glanced at him and told his cheeks smiling,
“Xavier! Xavier!! Xavier!!!”
His eyes fluttered open, I immediately pressed the calling button at the side of the bed, his doctors and nurses came running and they were happy too when they saw him with his eyes open, I gave them space to do the necessary things they do and when they were done they called me back inside,
“Ma’am, he is out of danger now, we just need to monitor him and he needs plenty of rest”
“Okay doc, please this should not be heard anywhere, if it’s let out that he is okay, I will sue all the staffs in this hospital, you guys signed a NDA on his family so keep it that way, tell people he is in a critical condition and hasn’t woken up”
“Okay ma’am you have no problem”
“Another thing, tell the security to be mindful of people that comes Inside this hospital especially to this floor, I want to see the nurses and doctors that are in charge of him and if in any case one of them have to skip work, you yourself should come and attend to him”
“Okay ma’am I will bring them”
He left and soon they were all here, they introduced themselves each, I told them not to wear their face masks when they come in, after am done with them, they left and I focused on the now sleeping Xavier, I am tired.
Jessica’s Aunt POV
I really don’t know why all these things keep on happening to my Jessica, finally when she has the life that she deserves something like this happens, I and Xavier’s grandfather left for the hospital, we got a call from the doctor that he woke up last night and we were very happy.
The reporters and paparazzi were loitering the area when we drove in, after helping the old man, I lead him upstairs to Xavier’s room.
Jessica was lying face down on his bed, she seems to be sleeping, I went to her to go to the bed there,
“Jessica honey, wake up, go to….”
She just fall like she has no strength, she wasn’t sleeping this whole time, she fainted, i called the doctors and they carried her to another private room, I shouldn’t have gone home when she told me to yesterday, who knows how long she has been like that , who knows how long she has been out cold, I hope she is okay.
Grandfather was taking this whole thing in without saying anything, he is really strong but I will call a doctor to check on him in case, his condition is quite fragile.
