Xavier’s POV
After work, I went to pick up Jessica but it seems as though she left already, I forgot to call her before coming but no worries.
I turned back towards home, home? That’s a foreign word to me before, I know that grandfather tried his best to raise me amidst work and everything and am grateful to him but Jessica made me feel warm, anticipating my going home every time am at work.
A black car behind me caught my eye, it has been following me for a while now, I smiled mischievously and took a left turn, they still followed, I went to a bakery and got a vanilla cake with cold coffee with latte, milk and sugar and an americano for me.
Next I went to a pastry shop and got milk bread, milk and chocolate cookies and burgers for me, I ate the burger there and soda water to match.
I continued going to places and buying things unnecessarily and can be stored in the fridge,

My phone rang, I checked the caller id and it was Jessica, she must be worried
“Hello Xavier, are you not coming back today?”
“I am on my way actually, just had a little bit of delay”
“Are you alright then”
“Yes, very alright, am coming back ”
“Okay hurry, I cooked dinner”
“Okay, I also got you something ”
We hanged up and I started my car again, they didn’t follow this time, I looked closely and the car was empty probably went to the restroom or somewhere, I drove off immediately and I totally missed them.
Unknown person POV
“Sir, we…. We lost him”
“What the fuck, what were you doing to lose him??”
“He has been driving around the city since he left work buying things I think it’s for the wife and went into have a snack, we both hadn’t eaten so wanted to get something to eat but he has already left when we cam back ”
“….. go wait at his company, dummies ”
XAVIER’S POV
“Wow, smells good”
“It’s pancake, honey and strawberry jam”
“Okay, let me have a quick shower, here are snacks for you, put it in the fridge if you can’t finish it”
“Did you go on a sugar rush spree”
“You could say that, I had one already so I don’t need more”
“Okay, go shower ”
I went into our room and discarded my clothes and jumped into the shower,. it was relaxing, it rubbed on my sour spot, relaxing the muscles there and untying the knots, it was heaven.
I came out of the shower, cleaned up and wore my pyjamas, we had matching one, do I wore it, I noticed her blush when she saw me wearing it, then she set the table and it tasted as good as it looks
“Wow, it tastes so good, you need to own a restaurant ”
“It’s my grandma’s recipe, she likes cooking and owns a small restaurant where she sells food ”
“I wonder how hers will taste when yours tastes like this”
“It’s actually more tasty than mine, you will like it”
“Yeah, let’s visit her soon”
“You sure?”
“Yes, it’s what I am supposed to do ”
“Okay th….”
We got interrupted by a phone call
“Hello, David ”
“Sir, it’s master, he collapsed just now and is being taken to the hospital ”
“What the… Am coming ”
I hanged up and turned to Jessica who was looking at me worried.
“Is father okay”
“Nope he collapsed just now and is being rushed to the hospital ”
“What, let’s go to the hospital immediately, don’t worry, am with my car keys”
We set out in our pyjamas not minding, Jessica drove because am not sure am I the right set of mind to drive now before I kill both of us, some reporters are swarming there already, damn pests.
We parked the cat at the park and hurried out, they turned to us, taking photos and asking useless and stupid question, I held Jessica close to me before she gets hurts, we went straight to my grandfather’s ward.
“Doctor what’s id wrong with him”
“Wait a little, we are still running tests on him, he will be better ”
“Okay, do everything you can to make sure he is alright ”
” Calm down Xavier, he will be alright okay”
I rested my head on her shoulder as I was shaking uncontrollable, I was scared, very scared, but thank God I have Jessica, she sat down and was interacting with the doctors from time to time while petting me on the back as I still clung to her, I wasn’t feeling ashamed of showing my weakness at all because I wasn’t raised that way.
“Mrs McCartney, his test is out”
“Okay, we are coming ”
She held my hand and lead me to the doctor’s office
“Mr and Mrs McCartney ”
“Doc, so what’s the test saying ”
“Well, you need to brace yourselves ”
“Okay, doc don’t exaggerate it, he was as healthy as a horse the last time we met, he even best me up so I know it’s nothing that can’t be cured”
“Of course it can be cured but it’s depends on patients will and body ”
I suddenly started remembering all the few times we spent together, I haven’t fulfilled his wish of want to be a great grandfather yet, I thought about all the times I made him angry and hit me, thought about how he cried at my parents funeral, thought about how he regretted not being with me all the time I needed him.
“Doc, don’t hide anything from us, how is doing, what does he have, will it be cured, would he live longer ”
