Xavier’s POV
After Mike left, I went back to my work, I have a lot of things to get back to because of the one month time I took to take care of Jessica and also my injury, it has closed up but still sore, those criminals were arrested and I made sure the are transferred to the worst prison cell in the country, doing to them what they made Jessica experience won’t be that hard anymore.
“Sir, the planning team are at the meeting hall”
“Okay, I will be with them in a minutes”
“Time to sack those that deserves it and commend those that deserve it”
I walked out of my office into the meeting room, everyone became quite as I walked inside, I snickered at them. I sat down at my seat and made sure to make eye contact with everyone, some avoided it while others didn’t.
“Well, it has come to my notice some people are doing a double agent work and some are being lazy, giving their work to interns or fellow workers because they have someone high up”
They all kept quiet, some shifted in their seats, others cleared their throats loudly and others avoided my eyes.
“Well, am sure everyone read the rules during internship and interviews, unless you didn’t do interview before getting employed, am here to lay off some people, those doing double agent work for the UNIVERSE company prepare a lawyer because am suing you all”
It wasn’t long before the reactions I want started to show, 5 out of them were working for Universe company, for straight 2 years, our product and the universe products looked a lot alike, even though they tweaked some parts of it and changed their production plans, any person will know it is,
“If I call your name come collect your employment termination letter”
I called out about 10 people and some started pleading while others left quietly, I gave them three months chance to clear their attitude and work well but they ignored me, I filled their position with the other workers and interns remaining. I dismissed them after everything.
I checked the time and it was time for lunch, I decided to go to Jessica’s company and see how everything is going there.
I checked their performance and it was good, 70 percent of news and magazines are all, it increasing since Jessica became the manager there.
JESSICA’S POV
I dealt with the rest of the work on my desk and prepared to go out for lunch, my personal phone rang and I picked it up.
“Hi Jessica ”
I kept quite without saying anything, can’t believe he lied to me, I haven’t confronted him about it yet since Xavier said we need to know if he is involved in the recent things happening around us now
“Hi, Collins ”
“How have you been, heard what happened to you and…. Xavier, are you okay?”
“It has been a month, Collins, a month and you are calling now?..”
“Am really sorry, I heard you stayed home and I didn’t want to cause troubles for you by calling but I went to your company at times to check if you are back to work ”
“Okay then, I have heard you, I need to eat”
“Yes, I know, am downstairs, come down let’s eat together ”
“Okay, then bye ”
I hanged up and sat back down, I wondered what he is going to gain by lying to me, I can’t put my hands on it.
I arranged my files took my small purse and left for the elevator, most workers have already gone to eat, I came downstairs and true to his words he was there, some girls made passes at him and he being Collins flirted, not that I cared
“Am here , let’s go ”
“Jessica you look good as usual
“Thank you, it must have been the care I got from Xavier ”
“He sure is a good husband, taking ate of his wife so diligently and good”
“Yeah, he sure is, so what’s up, why did you come?”
“Nothing much, just wanted to see you ”
“Aren’t you working anymore? Did you quit?”
“You are funny, though my company is small, I can’t quit or my father will kill me, he is trying to get a contract with Metro company ”
“My husband’s company?”
“Yes, but you know how competitive it is, I just escaped from mountain of work to eat or I would die”
“Metro company is quite something ”
“Yes, it’s hard to get a contract with them, and my father worked hard for it”
I know Collins father and the man like me honestly, he told me when I started being in a relationship with his son how much of a jerk he is and I thought he didn’t like me, he would call me from time to time and when I told him his son engaged me he was happy, but I lost his contact after the marriage failed
“I will talk to Xavier about it, your father is a hard worker and heade that company through his blood and sweat, so I will help out”
“Thank you so much Jessica, I will tell him about it, he will be so happy to hear that, thank you ”
I know that Collins will never inherit that company, it is very much his sister’s, I have met her once and she is nothing like him, a complete opposite to Collins and that’s why the father loves her a lot, so am doing it for both of them not Collins because he doesn’t deserve it at all.
We ate and left, I went back to the company and was recieving a knowing look from workers, I wondered what it was all about but not for long because sitting on my seat in my office is none other than Xavier, he was sitting as if he was shooting a magazine.
