Mike POV
“Mr Xavier is out of danger now, the operation was successful, he should be able to wake up within 2hrs”
“Thanks doctor, can I see him now?”
He nodded and left, I sighed and went into the private room.
I wasn’t happy, Xavier has been at the hospital since Saturday night, what happened that night was unexpected and shocking.
(FLASHBACK )
“Let’s drink the night away ”
“Xavier, you have to understand Jessica too, she was heartbroken and it’s not the type you can just forget all of a sudden ”
“I know but that doesn’t mean you hurt another person simply because of what you experienced, it should have the other way round ”
“Well, who am I to judge?”
We drank till midnight though it was all Xavier drinking, one of us should remain sober at least.
“Mike, let me ease myself, order more ”
He staggered to the bathroom. Two hours later, I didn’t see him, I wondered if he is sleeping inside there, I sighed and went to the direction of the bathroom, I saw people rushing out from there in panic, my heart sank, I hastened my steps and lo and behold, Xavier was lying down there in the pool of his own blood, I immediately went to him, seems like someone stabbed him in a very dangerous place, I rushed him out calling the ambulance too.
We arrived at the hospital in no time and they said his condition has to be stabilised before surgery to prevent him to worsening, I signed the papers and dialed Jessica’s number but it was busy or not reachable so it skipped my mind

Seeing the news this morning was something else, my head was still throbbing from last night’s drinking, I went downstairs to get a hangover drink, I came up and saw someone in black trying to sneak into Xavier’s room, I was shocked.
“Hey! Who are you?, don’t run, security!!, security!!!, catch that man”
I paused and went back to check up on Xavier, thankfully he is okay.
“What is happening, why are they being attacked left and right?”
I brought out my phone and dialed a number and once they answered I spoke
“Hasten the investigation and give me the results as soon as possible ”
JESSICA’S POV
I sat on the chair in the living room, I hadn’t been able to go to the office for the day, Collins gave me his words that he will sort it out today so am just waiting with the TV on in case, as if in answer to my wishes, Collins suddenly appeared in an interview with the rival company of ours THE UNIVERSE, he wasn’t smiling, looking all guilty and I wondered what he was planning on doing
“Uhmm, everyone, thank you for coming today and thank you universe for listening to my story”
“No problem, Mr Collins, so you said that miss, sorry Mrs McCartney is innocent of all the accusations, would you mind telling us what exactly happened ”
“Yes, thank you, Jessica and I were in a relationship but I wasn’t faithful to her but in order for her not to suspect me, I engaged her and we booked our wedding day but I broke up with her that same day, Mr Xavier who met her liked her and they got married instead, and his family were witnesses to the union including the grandfather of Mr Xavier, so ”
“So Mr Collins, everything was your fault then, what about the accusations of an employee getting fired from work because of Mrs McCartney?”
“The employee in question was her superior at work but she abused her power by forcing her to wear suggestive dresses and going to that club without telling her what or where it is and Mr Xavier who happen to see her there, got angry and requested for justice for his wife, Mrs Jessica is innocent from all accusation labelled against her, she has been a faithful worker, girlfriend and wife all her life and we will sue anyone who tries to defame her”
“Mr Collins, were you threatened to say all these or were it out of your heart?”
“I wasn’t threatened or forced to say this, I was feeling very guilty since this false news came out, I am the one who wronged her and she has refused to forgive me since then, so I now hope she will forgive me”
“Mr Collins do you have any thing to say to Mrs McCartney?”
“Yes, Jessica I hope you find a place to forgive me after everything I put you through, am so sorry for everything, please, please….. please forgive me, thank you everyone for watching and listening to me”
I didn’t know what to do anymore, I was surprised that he will come out and say this things, it was surprising for me but I am grateful, I started sobbing all over again.
COLLIN’S POV
“I have done everything you guys said so let me have the videos and documents, please”
“You did well but we still need to hold these as a collateral in case you start messing up again, now get out”
They pushed me out of the car without caring that it was raining and drove off.
“Assholes, fools, how dare that bastard treat me like this, how dare they”
I took cover in a convenience store, I dialled Jessica’s number.
“Hi, Jessica, I….”
“Thank you for what you did Collins, I know what it took you to say the truth but thank you and I have forgiven you for everything ”
“Huh? Ye…. yeah, I get it, I just wanted you to forgive me thank you for that, I hope am able to athom for everything I did ”
“Yeah, no worries, I have forgotten everything, take care of yourself okay bye”
“What is this bitch talking about?”
“Doesn’t she know that Xavier was responsible for what I did, guess it’s my own advantage now to the plan B
