What the hell are they talking about, I look around the whole place and people were whispering and looking at me, some jealously, some in shock, some surprised, some in disgust. I stood up suddenly and everywhere went quiet, I went into the ladies room, I brought out my phone and the news this morning shocked me to the narrow.

“Goodness, what is this, what is all this?”
I scrolled further and further, my picture wasn’t there yet, the only thing there was a blurry image of me and Xavier at the marriage registry, they might as well just post a good picture of me because whoever that knows me and has seen me anywhere will know that am the one there, I fall back unto the toilet seat, tears clouded my vision threatening to fall, I was confused, I couldn’t think of how the information got leaked out, our marriage wasn’t a secret, we only tell who we want to, but how can it be twisted like this, they turned it into a twisted story that i don’t even have anyway out, the only person that can help me now is Xavier but he isn’t saying anything.
“Duu, Duu, Duu”
The ringing of my phone shocked me into dropping it, I quickly picked it up, it was an unknown number but I still answer, it might be Xavier.
“H… Hello”
“Hello, Jessy baby, how are you doing? ”
“Collins”
“Yes, sweetheart it’s me, so you were cheating while we were dating and you were pretending to be all innocent and pure”
“Collins, you! You and I know I have never cheated on you, you abandoned me on our wedding day so I got married to another person so it’s not my fault but yours so don’t come here trying to guilt trap me okay because you should be feeling ashamed instead of me”
“Okay, I saw the news, it’s all over the entire country, why is your dear HUSBAND not doing anything about it”
“That’s is none of your business ”
“Does he even love you at all, he sure did beat me up as a show then”
“I don’t even know why am still answering you, since you have nothing Im….”
“I can help you clear your name, I know the company that published it, I can help you clear you name”
“What do you want in return because I know it isn’t for free ”
“You, I mean I want you to forgive me and let’s be at least friends ”
“Why would I be friends with you after everything you did, I fractured my wrist because of you”
“And I broke my jaw and nearly became impotent because of you, so let’s call it even, do you want me help or not?”
It was a tempting offer, us being friends doesn’t necessarily mean we were be talking always or seeing each other always, Xavier isn’t picking up his calls at all, and the whole internet is going crazy about it, no I need to think, I can’t trust Collins, I need to see Xavier, he might be at home, yes I need to see him.
“Sorry but I will decline ”
“Okay, I will give you time to think, call my number when you have made your decision”
We hanged up, I gathered myself washed my face, took a day off and left the company, immediately I came outside the company, someone threw an egg at me, it broke, staining my clothes and hair, more dirty things were thrown at me, I ran but the reporters swarm at me
“Miss, is it true you left your boyfriend on wedding day and married Mr Xavier instead?”
“Miss is it true a hardworking worker was sacked because of you?”
“There are rumours saying you were seen at a club known for prostituting wearing suggestive cloths even after you were married?”
“Miss answer the question ”
“Miss, are you really a gold digger?, how did you make Xavier to marry, do you have something against him”
Incrementing questions were being thrown at me left and right, I couldn’t see where I was going, my hair was pulled, my cloths were dragged and I was so down and desperate, I didn’t know what to do anymore, I needed help but I don’t know who to ask for, Xavier pho e isn’t going, I tried and with all my strength pushed the reporters and ran away, I ran and they pursued me, I ran like my life depended on it, I saw a box and hid inside it, I could hear running footsteps as they passed me, after waiting like a 10 minutes, I came out and boarded a taxi home.
Xavier wasn’t back yet, I crumpled on the floor weeping and crying.
“Why is all these things happening to me, why? What did I do to deserve this?”
I dialed Collins number immediately
“Please help me, please, I forgive you for everything just help me”
“Hush, stop crying dear, stop crying, I will help you ”
I ended the call still sobbing.
MIKE POV
What am I going to do, things are becoming chaotic and bad, I hope Jessica is okay, we need to tackle this as soon as possible.
“Check who is responsible for spreading that rumours and make them hold a press conference to confess everything, do all these with 12 hours”
“Mr Mike?”
“Yes, doctor ”
I answered as I ended the call with the other person.
“Mr Xavier is out of danger now, the operation was successful, he will wake up soon”
