Simon looked at Dimitri, who was struggling to breathe. She was losing so much blood, and her life was slipping away. Her eyes, once full of life, were now dull.
Simon badly wanted to scold her. She was the one who said they should stay low, yet she had been the impatient one.
Simon’s eyes remained fixed on the two of them. “I could kill you both right now. Challenging me is the stupidest move you could make.”
“You made the rules, Simon. You said none of us should hurt each other or our people without a good reason… but you broke the rule. You sent men to molest my sister, and your bitch here almost killed her.”
“That’s right. I made the rules.. not you…”
“How about you say that to Void?” Klaus added with a dark smirk.
Simon’s eyes widened at the name. “How do you know about him?”
“Since you treat us like puppets, we decided to find out who pulls your strings,” Klaus smirked.
Though Void remained mysterious, they had been digging into Simon since the day he refused to free them. They were still entangled in this dirty mess, but at least they now knew who Simon feared.
“You don’t know the fire you’re playing with. Fine… we won’t go after your sister. Let her go. You’ve done enough, and we’re even,” Simon stated, though he was still shocked that they had discovered Void’s existence.
His informant had been right about them. They were both devils.
Klaus moved the knife away from Dimitri’s neck, allowing Simon’s men to take her.
Vincent, on the other hand, was trying his best to suppress the urge to not shoot her.
Simon couldn’t kill them, not without the mysterious person named Void’s order. Beside, they were his best men.
“A mission is coming up, get ready,” Simon said, casting a last glance at the two glaring at him before leaving with his men and Dimitri.
Morticia woke up, her eyes meeting an unfamiliar room. She whimpered, blinking the remnants of sleep from her eyes.
“Oh my God, she’s awake,” Rhea’s voice sounded beside her.
“Hey,” Morticia frowned, confused about what was going on.
“I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to help you. I’m never leaving your side again, Morty,” Rhea panicked.
“W-what are you talking about? Did I die?” she blinked.
“You almost did. You were trapped in a room filled with smoke… and I thought I’d lost you,” Rhea sobbed.
Her memories flooded back. Morticia sat up with wide eyes.
“Hey, Morty, are you okay?” Jamie asked.
“I… I am fine,” she stuttered, concern etched on her face. “What happened? I mean, when I was trapped?”
“Your brother found you.”
Oh no. He must have gone crazy seeing her in that state. “Where is he?”
Before her question could be answered, the door swung open. Vincent and Klaus stepped in, their shirts changed and neat.
In unison, they shifted their gaze to Jamie, eyes cold and piercing. Jamie swallowed.
He didn’t know which of them looked scarier.
Morticia knew what they were thinking.
“It’s not his fault, stop it, guys.”
“He took you to the party, shouldn’t he have protected you?” Klaus mumbled.
“Guys, seriously?” Morticia said.
“You almost lost your life, Morty. You should be careful,” Vincent sighed. It wasn’t her fault. His gaze softened, and he quickly went to her, pulling her into a hug.
“You okay?” he asked quietly.
“Hm,” Morticia nodded. She must have scared him. Her condition had never gotten this bad before.
Her eyes met Klaus’s, who stood quietly across the room, his expression blank.

Two days later
Morticia stared at the ice cream vendor, serving three cups. She bit her lip and looked to her right. Vincent.
She looked to her left. Klaus.
These two had been on her ever since the incident. They had been following her around.
She was getting tired of it.
“I thought you said you caught the bad guys and threw them in jail. You guys don’t have to keep following me,” she complained.
“Just one more day,” Vincent suggested.
“No!” she snapped. “You almost followed me into the bathroom. And you!…” She glared at Klaus. “The whole school won’t stop glaring at me.”
“Then should I pluck out their eyes for you?” Klaus mumbled, and Morticia’s jaw dropped.
“What I meant is, you’re creating more enemies for me. I can’t even breathe with you two around… it’s just like in high school! Once, I even heard a girl saying I was dating both of you!”
“Give me her name,” Vincent demanded.
“Are you serious right now?” Morticia grabbed her ice cream and turned to leave. She looked back and saw the two following her again.
“Stop…” She was about to complain when Klaus ruffled her hair.
“Be quiet, Bunnie. We’ve heard you. We’ll let you be after today… hmm?”
Morticia blinked and sighed. “Oh God.”

At night, Morticia was on a video call with Rhea.
“They’ve finally left. They were on my neck for three days,” Morticia said, her eyes glued to the screen.
“They’re sweet, actually,” Rhea said, writing some notes she had missed.
“They’re worried that if I die, there won’t be any innocent devil left to tease.”
Rhea chuckled. “You were right about Klaus. He is freaking handsome. I can see why you have a crush on him. And your brother is getting hotter every day. His girlfriend is such a lucky one…”
Morticia rolled her eyes. “Duh.”
“Ah… any update on you and Klaus?”
“No, he’s acting normal. He’s acting like Klaus,” Morticia shrugged.
Rhea scoffed. “So you’re sticking with Jamie?”
“He’s acting distant these days, probably blaming himself for what happened. Why did those guys or whatever attack me anyway?” Morticia sighed.
“Probably someone who hates you. You just need to be careful… Now hang up, I have a lot of notes to cover.”
“And I have a movie to watch. Bye, Bestie.”
“Goodnight,” Rhea said, and the call ended.
