Sophia continued her surveillance, her eyes fixed on Vito as he moved through the mansion.
But unknown to her, Vito was aware of her presence, his eyes following her movements as he plotted his next move.
In the still of the night, as Sophia patrolled the mansion’s grounds, she heard a scream coming from inside.
She rushed to the source of the sound, finding Don Giovanni’s wife lying on the ground, a bloody knife in her hand.
“What happened?” Sophia exclaimed, her eyes wide with shock as she approached the Don’s wife.
“I… I don’t know,” the woman said, her voice trembling as she clutched the knife. “I heard a noise and came to investigate.
“And then… and then I found this,” she said, gesturing to the knife.
Sophia’s heart raced as she tried to piece together what had happened.
She heard footsteps behind her, and turned to see Vito standing in the doorway, his expression grave and serious.
“What’s going on here?” Vito asked, his voice low and dangerous as he looked at the Don’s wife and the knife.
Sophia stood up, her expression grim and serious as she faced him.
“I found her like this,” she said, her voice hard and determined. “I heard a scream and came to investigate.”
Vito frowned, his eyes narrowing as he considered her words.
“And you have no idea what happened?” he asked, his voice filled with suspicion.
Sophia shook her head, her expression grave and serious as she stared back at Vito.
“I told you, I found her like this,” she said, her voice low and dangerous. “We need to find out what happened.”
Vito nodded, his eyes still fixed on Sophia as he considered his next move.
“We’ll need to question her,” he said, his voice grave and serious. “And search the mansion for any signs of the intruder.”
Sophia nodded, her heart racing as she considered the implications of what had happened.
As the questioning began, Sophia watched Vito closely, her eyes fixed on his every move.
He seemed calm and collected, his demeanor serious and professional as he probed the Don’s wife for information.
But Sophia could sense something was off, a feeling of unease creeping over her as Vito continued to question the woman.
“You’re sure you didn’t see anyone?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous.
The woman shook her head, her voice trembling with fear as she answered.
“I’m sure,” she said. “I only heard a noise.”
Vito nodded, his expression grave and serious as he looked at Sophia.
“What about you?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous. “You didn’t see anything either?”
Sophia shook her head, her heart pounding as she realized what Vito was implying.
“I heard the scream, like I told you,” she said, her voice firm and determined.
Vito nodded, his eyes narrowing as he considered her words.
“And yet, you were the first one on the scene,” he said, his voice filled with suspicion.
Sophia stood her ground, her expression grave and serious as she stared back at Vito.
“I told you, I was patrolling the grounds,” she said, her voice hard and determined. “I heard the scream and came to investigate.”
Vito sighed, his expression grave and serious as he considered her words.
“Very well,” he said, his voice low and dangerous.
With a triumphant smirk, Vito picked up the knife from the floor and held it up to the light, his expression gleeful as he regarded Sophia.
“So,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “It seems we have our traitor.”
Sophia’s eyes widened in horror, her mind racing as she realized what had happened.
“You set me up,” she said, her voice trembling with anger and fear.
Vito’s expression remained cold and calculating, his eyes hard as he stared back at Sophia.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “I found you with the knife, standing over the body.”
Sophia shook her head, her eyes filled with defiance as she spoke.
“You planted that knife,” she said, her voice filled with anger and fear. “This is a setup.”
But Vito remained unmoved, his expression grave and serious as he spoke.
As the tension in the room mounted, Luca stepped forward, his expression serious and determined as he spoke.
“We need to tell the Don,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “He needs to know what’s happened.”
Sophia nodded, her face pale and serious as she considered their words.
“We have to find a way to prove my innocence,” she said, her voice trembling with fear.
But Vito’s expression remained cold and calculating as he spoke.
“There’s no proof of your innocence,” he said, his voice hard and dangerous.
With a heavy heart, Luca and Sophia reported the incident to Don Giovanni, the weight of Vito’s accusation hanging heavy in the air.
The Don listened as they explained what had happened, his expression grave and serious as he considered their words.
“If what you say is true, then Sophia must be punished,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “The traitor must be brought to justice.”
Luca and Sophia nodded, their hearts heavy with regret as they considered the implications of their actions.
Luca stepped forward, his eyes fixed on the Don as he spoke.
“I believe Sophia,” he said, his voice hard and dangerous. “She’s not the traitor.
“We have to consider Vito’s motives,” he continued, his expression grave and serious. “He may be the one who’s trying to deceive us.”
The Don frowned, his expression dark and dangerous as he considered Luca’s words.
“My trust in you has never been questioned,” he said, his voice low and dangerous.
“But I cannot ignore what has happened,” the Don continued, his voice grave and serious as he looked at Sophia. “If you are innocent, then you must prove it.
“Until then,” he said, his expression cold and heartless, “you will be removed from your position, and Vito will take your place.”
Sophia’s expression fell, her heart sinking as she realized the gravity of her situation.
Luca reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder, his expression serious and determined as he spoke.
