Clyde’s POV
I couldn’t believe the sight in front of me, and the chill that went down my spine wasn’t helping at all.
When one of the warriors called Sky through the pack’s mind link, we decided to stay behind, knowing how he could have handled it all. But this was not what I thought, expected, or imagined would happen!
“Son, what have you done?” I asked powerlessly.
His hands were covered in blood, and Marshall lay in a pool of his own blood, dead.
A loud female scream made me turn instantly. It was Berta, standing next to Riff, who looked pale and in shock. They were behind me when I chose to rush here after getting an uneasy feeling.
“Anyone call a healer, please!” she screamed at the top of her voice as she ran forward, kneeling next to Marshall and holding his hands.
“Marshall, Marshall,” she sobbed as I stood frozen in one place. It was obvious he was already dead. Even if we called a healer, there was nothing he or she could do about it.
“Clyde, his hands are cold,” she sobbed louder as I looked at Glen, expecting an explanation.
When his eyes met mine, I realized that his wolf was in control.
I moved closer without a word and raised a brow as I stood in front of him.
“Dad,” he greeted with a low bow after a few minutes of hesitation.
I was surprised that he acknowledged me. Having Glen greet me that way wasn’t surprising, but having his wolf, Dominic, acknowledge me was.
“Can you please explain to me what the hell is going on?” I said seriously.
We all focused on him as he narrated the whole story. When he was done, I looked at Riff, who had tears in his eyes.
“There is no reason to doubt your words, Alpha Dominic. Even if it were a lie, the pack members wouldn’t have kept quiet throughout the whole narration; they would have pointed it out,” Riff said in a low tone.
“My father made a grave mistake, but was it reason enough to take his life after all the good he had done for this pack? Why did you not banish him?” he growled furiously as tears rolled down his cheeks.
“He was my father, Sky. Even though he was evil, he was still my father,” he whispered in a cracked tone.
“Riff,” Sky called softly as he took a few steps forward to move closer to him.
“Don’t,” came Riff’s cold response.
Sky was about to raise his hand when Riff turned, shifted into his wolf, and ran away.
“Shit,” Sky whispered in a low tone as he looked at me sadly.
I slowly shook my head, letting him know how everything was now messed up.
I looked at Berta, expecting to see her still sobbing, but I was shocked when she had a murderous look on her face.
She stood up and looked at everyone seriously.
“Did you truly hear his confession?” she asked loudly.
“Berta,” I called softly.
Was she not believing our own pup?
“The Beta did say it with his own mouth, Luna, after resisting a few times,” one warrior answered.
“He wanted to lie and make it seem like Alpha Glen I mean, Dominic was being disrespectful by framing him. But when Alpha Sky commanded him to submit and tell the truth, he admitted to it. He even said he wouldn’t stop unless Alpha Clyde was eliminated as in, dead,” another warrior said, as the rest of the warriors nodded in agreement and backed him up.
“Our Alpha did the right thing because Beta Marshall was dead serious about killing Alpha Clyde,” the first warrior added.
“I see. Can someone get rid of this body now?” she said and then moved in front of me. I immediately tensed when I saw her wolf pull through.
Unlike Berta, Lorin was hard to please or talk to whenever she was upset. However, she was also very sexy and seductive whenever she was turned on, high, or alone with me. The only reason she changed was because of how I treated our pup, Glen.
“Lorin,” I called in a whisper.
“I suggest you call the witch in my nephew’s pack to see if there is a way to completely break the spell. As for me, I’ll go and talk to Riff’s mate and see if she can do something to calm him down,” she said seriously, and then glanced at Sky, who quickly lowered his sad gaze to the ground.
“He won’t easily understand that what you did was for the best, so for now, keep away from Riff and do not approach him or say anything to him. Not until he calms down,” she said seriously.
“Yes, Mother,” he answered in a low tone.
When she looked at Dominic, he quickly glanced at me with uneasiness.
I could tell how both of them respected her yet feared her a little.
“Dominic, make sure to call Jace and inform him about what has happened in this pack. He will need to know, no matter what,” she said as I smirked.
“Okay,” Dominic responded in a low tone.
I felt like grabbing her hand and kissing her like crazy because she was hot whenever she acted cold and gave out orders.
She was about to walk away when I moved and grabbed her wrist with a smile.
She looked at me coldly and then pulled her hand away.
I chuckled softly as she began to walk away.
If a human were to witness everything that was happening in our pack, they would call us crazy. Not only did we lose a former Beta of our pack, but I had lost a close friend whom I cared for, yet no one was acting bothered besides Riff.
I guess that was because the betrayal we felt dominated the sadness and hurt we were supposed to feel.
His being easily dead was an act of mercy.
If it were me, I would have slowly tortured him to death!
“Lorin, wait up,” I called loudly as I rushed to her side.
“Did I not ask you to call the witch?” she asked as I walked next to her.
“You did, but there was something I needed to do first,” I answered seriously as she stopped walking and faced me when I did too.
“What exactly would be so important other than calling the witch and asking her for help?” she asked loudly as I moved my hand to her cheek, making her tense.
“Welcome back home. I’m so happy to have you here. Both you and Berta,” I said softly, then leaned in and kissed her deeply without warning while I braced myself for a slap or to be pushed back.
But when she kissed me back and curved her arms around my shoulders, a low sigh of relief escaped me in the form of a low moan.
How I had longed to do this and just feel my mate back in my arms like it was in the old days.
