“Priya, are you awake?” Priyank entered the room, looking better than before.
For two days, he had been staying with Priya in the hospital room, not close, but having his own bed there gave him some peace. Knowing she was nearby allowed him to sleep more soundly.
Though she didn’t speak to him much and tried to ignore him, it was still better than when she wasn’t around.
Maya, Rish, Levi, and Jackson were all ready to let him stay in her private hospital room, but no one could stop him.
Once he set his eyes on something, he made sure to have it one way or another.
At least now he was less paranoid about leaving her and her escaping again. There was no way he would let that happen on his watch.
“Priya, I’m coming in,” he entered and saw her in a new dress, looking refreshed.
Today was her discharge day, and though he wanted to take her home, hug her, he couldn’t. They were in a pack now, and Priya had a lot of things to figure out or get used to.
He was selfish, but not enough to make things harder for her than they already were.
And he couldn’t just take her from this place. He knew nothing about it, tried hard to figure it out, but couldn’t.
“You look like a beautiful angel. How are you feeling? You’re getting discharged,” he cheered.
Priya looked at him and sighed deeply. She was fed up with his presence.
After trying so many ways to get him to give her some space, she gave up. He wasn’t giving up at all.
He had made sure he stayed with her the whole two days, whispering in her ear. He had behaved better than he usually did with her.
But that didn’t change the fact that he was literally on her neck, breathing and making it so unbearable for her to understand why he was like this.
He hadn’t once gotten angry with her like he usually did when she tried to insult him. But something was very different with him. For the past two days, he hadn’t reacted to anything.
As if he had swapped his whole personality with someone else.
“How are you feeling, angel?” Priyank asked again, keeping his calm, after he had just realized that he hadn’t given any reason for her to stay with him, and something in him had changed.
He wanted to give her so many reasons, so maybe she would change her view of him, which was hard, maybe quite impossible, but at least it would make a little difference, which he would also be glad about.
“I’m feeling fine,” Priya dryly replied.
“Good to hear. So, how do you feel about going back to the house where your parents lived?” Priyank smiled, eager to see the house himself.
He could understand Priya being nervous, as she had never seen her parents and had lived like an orphan her whole life before finding out she was a werewolf. It was quite shocking.
Still, she was taking things much better than she had on the day she had found out the truth, so there was progress.
“How long are you gonna stick to me like we’re joined at the hip? It’s annoying,” Priya commented, irritation burning in her eyes as she stared at him.
She had had enough of his shenanigans. She was fed up with his constant presence, feeling like she was stuck in a loop.
Priyank looked taken aback for a moment, but his expression quickly softened. He took a deep breath, trying to keep his calm demeanour. “I’m sorry, Priya. I just want to make sure you’re okay.”
Priya sighed, feeling a mix of frustration and guilt. She knew he meant well, but his constant hovering was suffocating her. “I know, but I need space. I need to figure things out on my own.”
“I understand,” Priyank nodded, his voice gentle. “I’ll give you space. Just know that I’m here for you whenever you need me.”
Priya nodded in acknowledgment, grateful for his understanding. She didn’t know what had caused this change in him, but it was far more bearable than how he had been before.
Priyank’s eyes flickered for a moment as he looked at Priya. He hated apologising, and apologising to her for something so trivial made him feel uneasy. But he knew it was better than fighting with her as if they were in some kind of war.
If he wanted to win her trust and her love, he had to hold himself back and change. And now that she couldn’t even leave him, as he was her mate, she needed him more than he needed her, which made the situation better than before. – it’s a win- win situation for him.
“Thank you,” she murmured, her voice quieter than before.
He nodded, his gaze never leaving hers. Her mere thank you meant everything to him. He could control everything about himself if it meant he would get in return the soft Priya, who seemed a bit more carefree and calm than before.
“Priya, if you’re ready, let’s leave,” Priyank said gently.
He looked back to see who had entered and saw Maya standing there, her expression not quite happy.
“What happened?” he asked himself, noticing Maya’s unusual demeanor. Maya didn’t like him, but she had never looked at him like this before, so it was concerning.
“Yeah, I’m ready, Maya,” Priya replied, attempting to stand but feeling a little dizzy. Before she could fall, Priyank swiftly carried her in his arms.
“Ahem,” Priya groaned in surprise.
“I’m here for the service, Angel. You don’t have to use your pretty feet. You’re still weak and need more time to recover,” Priyank said softly.
Priya sighed softly, feeling a mix of annoyance and gratitude. She hated being carried like a fragile doll, but she couldn’t deny the relief of not having to struggle on her own.
Maya crossed her arms, her expression stern. “Let’s go.”
Priyank followed Maya with a smile, carrying Priya in his arms. It felt good after so many days to hold her, her scent enveloping him, making it all worthwhile.
He loved having her this close, being able to smell her and feel her heartbeat, which brought him comfort.
