After an hour, they arrived at his office.
Priya stopped crying, appearing much better than she had at home.
He stepped out of his car and opened the door for Priya. “Come down, sweetheart,” he smiled, speaking softly.
Priya looked up, seeing him smiling and acting so gently, a stark contrast from his usual behaviour.
Did he hit his head somewhere? She questioned internally.
“Sweetheart, come down,” Priyank repeated, noticing her lost in thought, gazing blankly at him.
Priya was startled by his voice. Without further delay, she exited the car and surveyed their surroundings. They were in what seemed like a parking lot.
However, besides Priyank’s car, there were no other vehicles parked in the spacious area.
His driver remained seated inside the car, as Priyank was the first to alight.
“Shall we go, Angel? If you prefer not to walk, I can carry you again,” Priyank suggested, eager to lift her.
He found it oddly satisfying to carry her in his arms, a source of amusement for him.
“No, I can walk,” Priya declined, feeling childish when he carried her as if she couldn’t walk.
“As you wish, sweetheart,” Priyank softly grasped her hand and began walking.
Priya followed his lead, his slow pace accommodating her own.
Being tall gave him an advantage in walking, which was helpful since she was petite and walked slowly.
“Don’t wander off without me. If I have a meeting, you should stay in my office. Don’t roam around like last time. I know your foot was injured then, but now you’re fine. Don’t take advantage of it,” Priyank instructed as they entered the building.
“Okay,” Priya immediately agreed, eager to explore the lavish surroundings.
Though she had been here before, she hadn’t noticed its grandeur like she did now. The place was as impressive as his house and penthouse.
“Do you like it here?” Priyank inquired, noticing her astonishment at his office.
Her reaction was different from her previous visit with him.
“It’s good,” Priya responded, taking in the surroundings.
“You can come with me every day. Don’t worry, it’s your place now too. Whatever is mine is yours, Angel,” Priyank smiled.
Priya glanced at him, her eyes shifting from the surroundings to his face, as he spoke so smoothly.
Who would believe that this was the same man who wanted to force her into marriage, kidnapped her, and just an hour ago, had been digging his nails into her chin and jaw?
Nobody would believe it, seeing him now, speaking and smiling so differently.
As they walked through the corridors, Priya couldn’t shake off the unease in her mind. Despite his caring gestures, she couldn’t forget the trauma she endured. It was strange being treated so tenderly one moment and then subjected to terror the next.
Priya felt a sense of awe. The space spoke of power and wealth, yet she felt trapped, like a bird in a gilded cage.
As Priyank led her further, she wondered about his true intentions.
Lost in her thoughts, Priya felt a bit uneasy pondering why he had brought her here.
“Good morning, sir!”
“Good morning, Boss!”
As they passed the employees, they all stood up and greeted Priyank one by one, casting side glances at Priya, having seen her before when he carried her in.
Priya felt uneasy with so many eyes on her, but she kept walking, observing Priyank who didn’t reply to anyone’s morning wishes.
Seems like an attitude issue, the way he walked on without acknowledging anyone’s greeting.
Why does he always behave like this? Priya wondered, unable to comprehend. If it were her, she would give her all, greeting everyone with a smile.
It’s such a sweet gesture, the way everyone was showing respect, and she had always been taught to reciprocate that same respect no matter what.
As they walked further, Priya noticed the subtle tension in the air. The employees seemed to be on edge, their greetings to Priyank lacking the usual warmth. It was as if they were walking on eggshells around him, afraid to provoke his ire.
Priya couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for them.
Working in such an environment must be incredibly stressful, she thought.
As they approached his office, Priyank finally spoke, breaking the tense silence. “You can sit here,” he said, gesturing towards a plush couch placed in the middle.
Priya nodded, withdrawing her hand from his grasp as she walked toward the couch and took a seat.
Priyank settled into the large chair positioned in the centre, the table dividing the space in half.
His office was undeniably stunning, adorned with mirrors and offering expansive views through the windows, showcasing the height of the building. Priya felt as though she were sitting at the pinnacle of it all.
Ring! Ring!
The phone interrupted Priya’s thoughts, and she watched as Priyank answered, discussing something unfamiliar to her.
As Priyank spoke on the phone, Priya couldn’t help but feel a sense of detachment. She was in the midst of a world that was entirely foreign to her, and she couldn’t shake off the feeling of being an outsider.
Lost in her own thoughts, Priya gazed out of the window, watching the city bustling below. It was a stark contrast to the quietness of the office, and she found herself longing to be out there.
But as the minutes ticked by, Priyank’s voice grew louder, and Priya’s attention was drawn back to the present. It was clear that whatever he was discussing was of utmost importance to him, and she couldn’t help but wonder where she fit into all of this.
Why does he want to marry her?
What does he gain by taking her away like that?
There were so many things she could never understand, even if she wanted to. She wanted to know what exactly he got out of it.
Other than boosting his ego, which even with her low IQ she could observe, how he felt great when he could control her.
‘Is this going to be my life now? Following him and being trapped from one place to another,’ the sad reality clouded her thoughts.
After a few more minutes, Priyank ended the call, noticing Priya calmly sitting and observing things through the window.
Priyank’s gaze lingered on Priya for a moment before he approached her. His expression softened slightly as he spoke, “Are you comfortable, Priya?”
