Priyank’s eyes twitched as he heard her voice filled with hate, tears slipping from her eyes.
“I swear, if you shed tears for that old hag, I’m going to kill her,” Priyank’s heart clenched as he saw tears rolling down her cheeks.
He released his hold on her chin and gently wiped her tears away with his thumb.
She wasn’t crying because of him; she was crying for that woman who had chosen others over her.
He hated seeing her cry, even if it was because of him. He could take his own anger, but not when it caused her pain, due to others.
“I’m not crying because of Mother Mary. I’m crying because of how you’re treating me,” Priya said in a voice filled with sobs.
She did feel hurt because of Mary, but she felt terrible because of him.
He was the one making her emotional and making it difficult for her to understand his problem.
Yet here he was, pinning the blame on Mary as if it wasn’t him. In his eyes, he was always right, even when he did wrong.
“Then I’m telling you to stop crying, if I’m the reason you’re shedding these tears,” Priyank commanded sternly.
He could see she wasn’t lying, but she was only telling half the truth. She was overwhelmed by what happened yesterday, so it wasn’t entirely his fault the way she was blaming his behaviour.
Suddenly, Priyank got startled as Priya started crying louder, throwing a fit, unable to contain her emotions.
He immediately stood up and hugged her, her face nestled into his stomach, her tears and nose rubbing against his shirt.
She cried like a baby, and Priyank couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt and remorse for causing her such distress.
As Priya sobbed into his chest, Priyank’s heart softened, and a wave of compassion washed over him. He held her close, gently rocking her back and forth, whispering soothing words in her ear.
“I’m sorry, Priya,” he murmured, his voice laced with sincerity. “I didn’t mean to upset you. I just… I don’t know how to deal with all of this.”
For the first time in his life, he apologised, and it wasn’t just lip service; he truly meant it.
He couldn’t recall the last time he had apologised to anyone other than his mom.
Throughout his life, after he had climbed to the top, it seemed like everyone else was always the one apologising, even when he was in the wrong.
But seeing her cry like this, he didn’t know how to react any other way. It was as if her tears were physically breaking his heart.
His heart seemed to be filled with different emotions for her.
Priya was shocked when she heard his apology. She looked at him incredulously. “You’re apologising? Forgiveness may be the best thing in the world, but you’ll never get it from me. You don’t know what you’ve done to me.”
Priyank gazed into her red eyes, listening to her words filled with hate.
She continued, her voice trembling with emotion. “I was born an orphan, but do you know what you did? You turned me into one. You made me realise just how much of an orphan I truly am.”
“Angel, please stop crying. It’s not good,” Priyank urged, brushing aside her words as he tried to comfort her through the storm of emotions.
He didn’t want to let her emotions affect him, but they were seeping into him nonetheless.
It was unfamiliar territory for him; he wasn’t accustomed to feeling his own emotions, let alone someone else’s.
Yet, here he was, experiencing every ounce of her pain deep within his bones.
Despite trying to remain unaffected, Priyank couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed by Priya’s emotions. It was a strange sensation for him, as he was used to keeping his feelings hidden and maintaining a tough exterior.
As he held Priya close, he felt a sense of discomfort creeping in. He had always prided himself on his ability to stay strong and unaffected, but now, faced with Priya’s tears and vulnerability, he realised that he couldn’t ignore his own emotions any longer.
“I am going to cry. I am not going to stop crying. You can’t just say something and expect me to stop my tears,” Priya stubbornly spoke.
She didn’t want to cry. She didn’t want to show her fear or her tears. She didn’t want any of it. But her emotions were beyond her control. They were happening without her consent, leaking out from within her.
If she could control it, she wouldn’t shed a single tear for him. Even now, she wasn’t crying because of the pain; she was crying over her fate. She was crying over where life had led her.
“Okay, cry all you want, because I’m taking you to the office with me, and everyone can make fun of you,” Priyank abruptly broke the hug. He sensed that she wasn’t ready to calm down, and he felt that the more he tried to soothe her, the more she would continue to behave this way.
Priya looked at him with tears streaming down her face, her lips trembling, and her nose flaring in distress.
“Follow me,” Priyank ordered, not wanting to carry her or be too close to her.
Seeing her cry like this only fueled his anger, which would only result in more tears and tantrums. So he decided it was best to handle the situation calmly.
“Don’t give me that look. You can keep crying until we reach my office, and cry there too for all I care,” Priyank lied through gritted teeth.
As much as her tears affected him, only he knew, and how much of a turn-on they were for him, only his own dick knows.
He didn’t want anyone else to see her in this vulnerable state, but perhaps by exerting authority like this, she would stop crying and things would settle down.
“Yeah, I’ll cry all I want. Even the devil can’t stop me today,” Priya declared as she stood up from her chair.
Priyank couldn’t help but chuckle at her remark, knowing exactly whom she was referring to.
“Good,” Priyank replied, starting to walk.
Priya stomped her feet as she followed him, her frustration evident.
Priyank couldn’t help but smile at her childish display. “Such a kid,” he thought to himself, amused by her antics.
