Heavy and vicious blows rained down on my head and chest.
One caught me clean on my chin and my head bounced on the hard grass. I almost went unconscious until another one snapped me fully alert. I brought my wrists up and guarded my head.
Leia’s punches were hard as they made contacts with my raised arm. She was sitting on top of me as she released hits after hits of furious punches.
“Leave her alone,” I heard Ashley yell but it was more of an echo.
Leia raised her right hand up to strike me but I used that to jerk my hips up pushing her off balance. I grabbed her by her Ash blazer and pulled her sideways to the left until I successfully got her off me.
I shot to my feet and took in a fighting stance.
She rushed at me but she did not make it to me. Two tall girls appeared out of the blue and blocked her path.
“Enough, Leia!” one of them yelled.
I was confused. Why were they helping me?
Students were gathering around with their phones raised up and murmuring as they videoed us. Great. I was going to be famous on campus for the second time for getting into a fight again.
“Get the fuck out of my way!” Leia yelled and tried to push her way through the blonde twins.
Why were the Rasputin sisters holding Leia back?
“Calm yourself, Leia!” the second one cautioned. “You will be expelled for real this time.”
Ashley came up to me and began to dust off my dress. “Are you okay?” She asked with concern.
Before I could respond, the shrill and stern voice of Dean Davina boomed. All the students immediately froze in fear.
“What in Canis name is going on here?!” She demanded. She looked at me, Ashley, Leia and the twins. “Of course it has to be a Craven,” She mocked with venom in her tone. “In my office, now! All of you.”
I sighed and shook my head in exhaustion. What a good way to start the beginning of school.
I knew why Leia attacked me. I was not so sure about telling Dean Davina why because I did not think she needed to know. Sadly, I followed her to the office with the rest of the girls.
We got to her office and she went behind her desk and sat heavily on the leather swivelling chair. She had a weary look on her face as she looked at each of us intensely. We were all standing while she sat.
“Ms. Craven, do you want to tell me why you attacked, Ms. Moonshadow?” Dean Davina asked as she glared at Leia.
“She burnt my face, remember?” Leia said exasperatedly.
That was not the reason or maybe it was one of it but it was not the main reason.
“Is that the only reason?” Dean Davina asked.
“Why would there be any more reason?” Leia asked coldly.
“So, you are telling me that you did not attack Ms. Moonshadow because your elder sister Iris has been hospitalized?” Dean Davina asked.
“How can you know that?” I asked with abject shock.
Was she spying on me?
“Everybody at Blue River knows of the incident,” Dean Davina said with a shrug.
“That was self defence!” I proclaimed.
“You gave her third degree burns all over her body in self defence? Really?” Leia asked with a mixture of anger and disbelief.
How could I tell her that I had no control over this power that confused even me?
Ashley glanced at me with some sort of interest in her eyes.
“So, you admit that your motivation for attacking Ms. Moonshadow was because of your sister?” Dean Davina asked.
“She will pay for this, I swear it,” Leia said as she glared at me.
“Well finish whatever payment you desire from her outside this campus, Ms. Craven. You have caused enough trouble here as it is, do I make myself clear?” Dean Davina demanded sternly.
“Crystal,” Leia coldly replied and turned out to the door and roughly pulled it open with a loud bang before stomping out angrily.
“And you, Ms. Moonshadow, why does trouble always seem to find you in the school?” Davina said with weariness in her voice.
I shrugged. “Well…”
“It was a rhetorical question,” Davina snapped and I clamped my mouth shut. “Just get to class and stay away from Leia if you can, I will call her father.”
Without a word, I and Ashley turned to walk out of the Dean’s office. We had not even gone far before Ashley tapped me softly by the shoulder. I turned to her as we kept on walking.
“The weird twins are following us,” she whispered. I glanced back and saw them but I didn’t really believe it.
“I do not think so, they are probably on their way to find their queen bee,” I replied.
“You know we have good hearing,” One of them said from behind us.
“And the bushy red head is right, we are following you,” The other said.
Ashley scoffed at being called a bushy redhead.
We were out in the open by now. “What do you two want?” I asked as I turned towards the blonde twins.
“Leia is not our queen bee,” one said.
“Yeah, I don’t really give a shit,” I replied nonchalantly. “Why did you even help me?” I asked, recalling how they held Leia back from attacking me further.
“It was not by choice,” the other one said. They were so identical that I could not even tell either one apart.
“Wow thank you, it must have been so difficult,” I said with unhidden sarcasm.
There was something strange with how they looked. It was like they were being forced to talk to me.
“Did your parents put you up to this?” I asked and their eyes widened in surprise. “Yeah, I know your mommy and daddy want you both to fuck my uncle, it is nothing to be ashamed of.”
