“I was trying to buy us some time” I told Kylee.
She scoffed.
“Girl, the things you do . I don’t understand. You’re so different from Christian, the both of you are so contrasting. Did you even take your time to think?”
My fingers were playing with themselves as I tried to come up with an answer for Kylee.
“I didn’t have the time. I just wanted to save my mum”
“She’s your mother!” Kylee snapped. “She’s supposed to be the one doing the saving and it shouldn’t be the other way round. She’s so irresponsible”
“She’s trying, she was worse before she’s better now”
“No she’s not!” Kylee yelled. “Did yo know why she has those bruises?”
I shook my head.
“No, but I’m guessing it’s Marcellino”
“You think Marcellino would hit your mum and Christian would let him walk away with it?” Kylee massaged her eyebrows with her thumb and forefinger. “Many months ago, she took some money from a Russian mob, to ‘invest’… She got some guts. She told them that she invested in Marcellino’s company but she didn’t invest in Marcellino’s company. She took the money and went to casino…”
“No.. no, Kylee tell me you’re lying ”
“I wish. She wanted to gamble it and earn triple but instead, she squandered it all in one night. These men are one of the most feared men, they’re not feared because they’re scary… No, people fear them too many reasons and none is good. Your mother, told them that their money is multiplying but they saw nothing so they started asking questions. She led them on a wild confirmed… She then sold a share from marcellino’s company. She had access to some of his accounts and she forged his signatures and faked to be him and she paid those mobsters, just a tip of the iceberg of what they had given her and they have been waiting for the remaining balance”
What I was feeling was a different type of cold a dead kind, at the pit of my belly.
“Marcellino got notified of what Elisa did and he got furious but the Russian mob told him they’d be coming for him after they deal with her. So he’s too occupied to even be hitting her. The seventy million Christian had sent went straight to them and they need the remaining balance”
How much is the remaining?”
“Two hundred and twenty million ”
“Dear God… What did she do ”
“You see Christian has been distracted all these months, with you of course. You’re his only distraction. But today, seeing Elisa and Marcellino and Mr Cooper, everything clicked, his mind is something else, I can’t lie… I still have goosebumps from the way he had figured everything out and of course we confirmed it from trusted sources ”

“Mr Cooper is willing to pay money to get you as a wife for his son but I’m not sure he would want to pay two hundred and twenty million, no offense, you’re beautiful and all but Mr Cooper is too stingy ”
“So what part do I play in all this?”
Kylee’s face turned grave all of a sudden, she swallowed and turned to face the window, she couldn’t even meet my eyes while she spoke.
“The Russian mob were still pestering and your mother is a fool, she’s a very big fool, Jenna. No child deserves to have her as a mother”
“What, tell me….” My voice came out as a tremble.
“She told the mob that she would give you off to them to clear the debt… She thought that they would agree to uhmmm… They would, god , I can’t say it”
“Say it!” I yelled.
“She thought they would have you for only one night. She wanted them to fucked their daughter to clear the debt, not one of them…”
“Tell me you’re lying ”
“I wish I was. About a dozen of them, Jenna. They would have you in rotation, it was the deal. You’re lucky you were on the island, everything that happened to you was fate. Talia was a blessing in disguise, if you didn’t leave, they would have found you because they were looking for you. When they finally found your pictures… You were beautiful and sexy and they got greedy ”
Klyee stopped again, her eyes was lined with silver, the tears slipped down and ran down the bridge of her nose. She sniffed and shook her head.
“They said they didn’t want you as a one time thing, they were going to keep you, permanently, as their plaything. And if two hundred and twenty was not enough, they were going to play Marcellino and Elisa additional, it was not a request, Jenna, it was an order”
My blood was frozen in my veins. My breathing was deep and yet I was not getting enough oxygen.
“Your mother saw what a ridiculous decision she had made. So, her and Marcellino was asking for help. Because even though they don’t have hearts, they pitted you, even don’t the dead would pity you Jenna. Cooper decided to take you in, he isn’t scared of the mobters because they owe him a favour. If he takes you as a daughter in law… They might back away. They’re not just taking you to Budapest for a vacation, they’re trying to hide you and from there, they would have taken you somewhere remote to stay with Brien”
I realized I had been crying and fresh tears tore from my eyes because of the fact that I was vulnerable. Completely helpless.
“What do I do now.. how, where can I go, is there any way to talk these people out if it?
Kylee laughed.
“You’re so adorable”
I cried harder than I’ve cried in my entire life.
And immediately the tears stopped coming, I looked to see that we were in the compound of the safe house and the driver was no longer in the car. I didn’t know how long I’ve been crying and I wasn’t even aware of what was going on around me.
Then is struck me, I turned to see Kylee watching me keenly.
“Where is Christian?”
