Damian’s POV
…….
I watch as both dead citizens start to slowly get up from the ground.
Demon crows work fast in taking control over a dead body. Within minutes they are up and moving around. I have dealt with demon crows before, but I never seen them actually take control over a body. I only killed them while already inside a dead body.
” The rotting flesh we are smelling is coming from those troll demons. They must have been killed by someone else giving those crows a opening to possess their dead bodies.” Dean says from beside me.
” I kinda figured that.” I tell him.
” Fire will kill these fuckers.” Virgil says walking up from behind us.
” I know, but I don’t want to burn down any houses.” I tell him.
” We have to do something, or we will have a bunch of walking corpses controlled by demon crows.” Dean adds.
” I am aware! Now, shut up! I have to think!” I snap at them.
A barrier needs to go up, but the issue is separating the dead from the living. Demon crows are cleaver and smart. They can make the dead walk, talk, and move around like they are still alive.
The only way to tell the difference is by smell. However, flesh doesn’t start rotting for a few hours, and we can’t go by scent of blood, because the crows suck all of that out.
We will have to check every citizens chest for a hidden crow. That is the only way to separate them.
Hearing a scream coming from inside. I run back in to see a window had been broken with two maids laying on the ground dead, and other maid holding a demon crow off with her bare hands.
I reach out grabbing ahold of the crow by its neck. I stare into its three eyes, before snapping its neck.
” T-thank y-you.” The maid stutters out, as she tries to catch her breath. ” B-behind y-you!” She suddenly stutters out into a panicked tone.
Turning around I see the two dead maids on now standing. I watch one grab ahold of a mop, and snaps the mop head off of it, just leaving a sharp pointing stick. While the other dead maid picks up a glass vase, and smashes it against the wall. She leans down picking up a huge sharp piece of glass.
Right, since I walked in while the crows were getting bodies to hide inside. They don’t have a reason to pretend to be normal.
I pop my knuckles before running towards both dead maids. I shove my hand into one maids chest and forcefully pull out the crow by its neck.
It’s wings flap aggressively, as it digs its claws into my right arm. I can feel it’s sharp claws digging into my flesh, before feeling a warm liquid running down my arm.
” Look out Damian!” Dean yells at me.
Looking up I watch Dean step infront of me. He holds up his right hand, and I watch a small flame shoot out of his hand, before the crow catches on fire.
” Where is the other dead maid?” I asked him looking around.
” I didn’t see another dead maid. I only saw the one you pulled the crow out of, and this one came through that broken window.” He says pointing at the crow he just burnt to a crisp.
Damnit!
It must have ran off.
” Dean, I need you to go back to my apartment. Tell the gaurd to stay alert, and let Willow know what is happening. Also, be sure to put up a barrier, and take this maid with you.” I tell him, and point towards the maid I saved just moments ago.
” What about you?” Dean questions me.
” I am going outside to clear these fucking things out.” I tell him, as I slam the crow I am still holding against the wall.
I cracks open it’s skull leaving a small blood spot on the wall.
Dropping it too the floor, I watch the wings switch and jerk against the marble floor.
They might be cleaver and fast, but they are still weak creatures.
I step on the dead crow, as I head back out to the balcony. Getting outside I see Virgil still standing by the railing.
” Have a plan?” I question him.
” No, not really. I did notice that one giant crow in the sky is a lot bigger than the rest. It is possible that demon crow is the leader.” Virgil says staring up into the sky.
Looking up I see the giant crow demon. It was hovering high above the rest. I noticed when it starts to circle over a certain area, that it signals the other crows to dive down to attack.
Looks like Virgil is right.
That giant crow demon is telling the others where to attack by circling. Not to mention it is attacking all my weak points. Every spot the crow circles are all spots that are lacking guards in that area.
” We need too shoot that fucking thing down.” I tell him.
” It is too high up, not to mention all the smaller crows are in the damn way.” He tells me.
Yeah, he does have a point. The smaller crows aren’t just hanging down low to attack. They are making it impossible to get a good shot on their leader.
” Dean, didn’t you once tell me that you have a priestess in your family?” I mindlink him.
” I do, but my cousin isn’t going to allow her to come here. She is nine months pregnant with his first child.” Dean mindlinks back to me.
Fuck!
A priestess arrow will be able too reach that damn thing. While also clearing out the smaller crows.
” Let’s try clearing them out. That damn thing has to come down too help his comrades at some point .” I says jumping up onto the railing, before jumping down into the street below.
I kill a few crows that were attacking, before putting up a small barrier in the center of town.
I check a few women and men that are near me for crows, by ripping their shirts open and checking their chest area.
Not seeing a hole in their chest. I allow them into the barrier.
” This is going to take awhile Damian. We have too many citizens to check!” Virgil says shouting over everyone screaming.
” We don’t have a choice! We have to kill as many crows as possible. While also trying to save at least half of the citizens.” I shout back at him.
There are too many crows and citizens. We aren’t going to able to save everyone.
All we can do is try.
……….~ WILLOW’S POV ~ ……..
” Dean, what are you doing?” I question him.
” We are under attack.” He says placing a pink barrier on all of the windows.
” Who is attacking us? Is it Sato?” I question him in a worried tone.
” I’m not sure if Sato is behind this, but we are getting attacked by crow demons.” Dean informs me.
I haven’t seen a demon crows in a long time. They kill their host and suck out all of their blood, before taking control over the dead body. The dead acts and talks just like a living person. Only demons can smell the different. Since the crows add a weird chemical through their saliva to mask the dead rotting smell from humans. It will make it hard for me too tell the difference between living and dead.
” We will protect you.” Say a little hybrid child.
I smile down at her, and squat down too her level, ” I will love that.” I tell her happily.
Hearing banging on the front door I instantly jump to my feet. ” Guys open the door!” I hear Kristin yell in a panicked tone.
I quickly walk to the door, and open it allowing her inside.
” Show us your chest!” Dean snaps at her.
” No! You pervert!” Kristin snaps at him, as she breathe heavily trying to catch her breath.
” Do it! Or I will kick you back out into the hallway!” Dean threatens her.
” You can’t be serious!” Kristin says in disbelief.
” I have too make sure you aren’t possessed by crows. So, shirt off or I kick you out!” Dean tells her in a stern tone.
Kristin let’s out a sigh, before taking her shirt off revealing a bright red bra. ” Satisfied?!” She asked in a irritated tone.
” Not really, I was expecting bigger.” Dean tells her.
Kristin gasps, ” You’re an asshole!” She snaps at him, as she puts her shirt back on.
” That was a dick move.” I tell Dean.
He just shrugs and gets back to what he was doing.
This is going to be a long day.
Especially if Dean stays in here with us.
I can already tell Kristin wants to rip Dean’s head off.
