Chapter 90 – Favorite pastime

Book:HIS REJECTED SECOND CHANCE MATE Published:2025-2-16

Nicolas POV
The soft kiss of the early morning sun on my cheek woke me up.
“Urgh,” I moaned, feeling my back hurt. I must have fallen asleep during the early morning of the
night, laying my head on top of the bed.
I blinked a couple of times against the bright light, rubbing the spit from my mouth as I tried to get
my eyes focused.
“Morning, Alpha,” Ronan said, his lips twisted in a mocking smile. “Did you sleep well?”
“As well as any other,” I lied, compressing a yawn as I shifted my attention to where Zara was lying.
I quickly furrowed my brows-she was not there.
Did he manage to take her while I was sleeping?
I jump to my feet, adrenaline pumping through my veins.
“Slow down, Alpha,” Ronan said, his hands in a defensive motion. “Luna is in the bathroom. She
didn’t want to wake you.”
Zara wasn’t taken?
I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding and sank back into the chair.
“How is she feeling?” I asked, searching Ronan’s gaze.
“She seems to be fine,” he replied. “She woke up a couple of minutes ago.”
I nodded, processing the information.
Zara was fine. Everything is fine. Why did I feel as if this was just the start of everything?
“Did you find him?” I asked, remembering the dark figure lingering in the forest. Ray saw him first
and immediately became defensive.
Ronan shook his head.
“There was no trace of him,” he replied, handing me a cup of coffee. “We don’t know how he got in
or out.”
I nodded, my mind racing.
Last night when I found Zara, I could feel a dark presence roaming around the area. I have never felt
something like that before. I had no other choice but to run and get Zara to safety.
Ray was outraged when she didn’t respond to us. He believed that the dark presence had linked
itself to Zara and was sucking her dry from her magic.
It was as if my magic responded to my fear. It triggered the storm.
For a moment, everything felt as if it were lost, until we were in the infirmary, and I could feel her
close to me.
“Expand the search,” I told Ronan. “Seek the caves. Block every entry off. He will come for her
again.”
“Yes, Alpha,” Ronan replied, and the bathroom door suddenly opened, revealing Zara.
I jumped to my feet, and Zara quickly came to me and leaped into my arms.
Ronan didn’t hesitate and quickly exited and closed the door behind him, giving us some privacy.
My arms wrapped around her protectively, and I pulled her closer to my chest.
A sob escaped Zara’s lips.
“I was so worried,” I muttered in her hair, taking a deep breath of her lovely scent. “I thought I had
lost you for good.”
“Me too,” she sobbed against my chest. “Thank you for saving me.”
I pulled Zara to arm’s length to look at her, and a soft smile followed on my lips. She had her natural
glow back.
“I heard you last night,” I said seriously. “I don’t know how, but I did.”
“I am glad,” she replied, lifting her gaze. Her hand cupped my cheek, her thumb tenderly brushing
my skin.
She slowly pulled me closer, searching my lips.
I moaned against her lips, closing my eyes to control myself, her sweet lips enticing me to make love
to her.
When she slowly pulled away, I knew she had questions.
She was still cupping my face when she asked, “What did the council decide?”
I abruptly pulled away, startled that she knew there was a meeting.
“How do you know about the meeting?” I asked, taking her hands in mine.
“I tricked Mariana into telling me,” she said, biting her bottom lip. “Don’t be angry at her. It wasn’t
her fault.”
I shook my head in amazement. Only Zara would be the one who could get information from
someone and blame herself.
“I am not angry,” I said, pecking her lips. “I actually have wonderful news.”
“Oh? Do share,” she said, her gray eyes gleaming with excitement.
“The council now knows about us,” I said, causing Zara to stiffen and her eyes to widen in fear.
“No need to worry,” I said, brushing a stray hair from her face. “They have given us their blessing….”
It took Zara a moment to process what I just said. Her eyes were full of confusion.
“Wait, what? How?” Zara eventually gasped out in disbelief, and I chuckled at her response.
It was the same response we had after Beta John grabbed the Council’s attention, and they agreed in
favor of us.
“Beta John intervened,” I started to explain.
“How? I don’t understand,” she cut me off. “What does Beta John have to do with this?”
“He spoke to the council and warned them,” I said.
“Warn them against what?” Zara asked.
“Does it matter?” I asked, tenderly kissing her neck. I didn’t want to go into detail about it right now.
“I guess not,” she moaned, and I lifted her onto the bed. “So does it mean that we can…?”
I nodded, my breath racing.
Zara snaked her arm around my neck, and she pulled me closer. She crushed her lips on mine while
her other hand ripped my shirt off.
“That’s better,” she said, a smile forming on her lips. “I love feeling your body rubbing on mine.”
Zara licked her lips as her hands traveled down my body, stopped at my belt, unbuckled it, and
unzipped my pants.
My pants fell to the floor, leaving me in my boxers.
Zara’s gaze shifted down, seeing the huge bulge, and she bit her lip.
She slipped her hand into my boxers, a hiss escaping my lips as she took my shaft in her hand and
gave it a few quick pumps.
“F*ck, Zara!” I moaned. “Everyone will hear us…”
“I don’t care if they hear,” she whispered, pumping my cock. “I want everyone to know…”
My lips curled around her lips, sucking up her last words as if they were my oxygen.
I pulled and gripped her hands above her head, extended my claws, and shredded her clothes into
pieces, leaving her in only her undergarments.
Zara’s breathing raced. She didn’t expect me to do that.
I lifted Zara’s legs onto the bed, shifted her panties to the side, and slid my middle finger inside her
to give her a few deserved pumps.
She was already soaked for me, and I loved the smell of her arousal.
“This is officially my favorite pastime,” I huskily whispered as I pushed my whole shaft inside her,
making her moan out loud and curve her back. “F*cking you first thing in the morning.”
If only our blissful and joyful moments could last forever.
