CYRIL
It hurts to find out that Olivia is cheating on me with Adrian. After everything I’ve done for her, the bitch still had the nerve to sleep with another man while we were still married. If it wasn’t for me, she wouldn’t be running the company, let alone know how it feels to be a CEO.
As I drove back to Rene’s apartment, I started imagining all the insane things I could do to hurt Olivia.
I don’t see myself letting her go scot-free-especially Adrian. He has to pay for betraying the bro code. He knew Olivia was still married to me, yet he went ahead and had sex with her.
Different thoughts plagued my head. I wasn’t even certain of where I was heading anymore. Parts of me wanted to go see Rene and wrap myself in her arms for solace, while the rest of me wanted to visit my lawyer, Andrew, to finalize the divorce process between myself and Olivia.
He was taking too long to get the necessary documents ready, and I wasn’t pleased with it. I was desperate to get rid of Olivia and spend the rest of my life with Rene.
The thought of being married to Olivia, knowing that she is cheating on me with another man, will forever haunt me. However, I stand a chance to heal quickly when we are separated.
“I need to go speak with the lawyer. He needs to tell me why the process is taking forever,” I said to myself. It was a tough decision to make, knowing that Rene would be waiting for me at her place. She wouldn’t stop texting me.
As I was about to start the car and drive, I got a call from an unexpected person of importance.
I zoomed in on the name of the caller a thousand times, hoping that it wasn’t a dream or a prank. Yet, I kept seeing the same result.
It was none other than Dante, Adrian’s uncle. He happened to call at the right time, just when I was distressed.
I had a feeling that he was quite aware of my predicament and decided to reach out to me.
The Dante I know rarely calls. My company might have signed some partnership with him, but he made it clear to us that Adrian would be his representative until the final days of the contract.
Bewildered, I ignored the call due to unreadiness. I needed time to prepare my utterances to suit my situation.
Then a voice spoke in my head, “This is the right time to bring up Adrian. Tell Uncle Dante about Adrian’s relationship with Olivia.”
I wasn’t sure if I’d heard the voice before, but I was thrilled that it spoke at the appropriate time, just when I was running out of ideas to solve my riddle.
I salivated, sighed, and chanted all the words of encouragement I needed to excel before returning the missed call from Dante.
“Good day, sir. Sorry I missed your call. I wasn’t close to my phone,” I started with an apology, just to patronize Dante.
“What a surprise this is. I am thrilled to hear from you. It’s been quite an age,” I proceeded with that sweet talk.
I ensured that my voice was soothing enough to complement my mood. Although if he were next to me, it would be easy for him to tell that I wasn’t being honest.
“Same thing your wife told me when she called barely an hour ago to ask about the whereabouts of Adrian. Is she anywhere near you?” Dante revealed, dropping a bombshell.
My tone of voice changed immediately. “My wife called you to ask about Adrian?”
“Yes, she did.
Didn’t she tell you?
That’s the reason I called-to know if there’s a problem because she sounded a bit tense over the phone,” Dante added. I was hearing new information for the first time.
“No, she didn’t.” I stuttered. I couldn’t bring myself to defend Olivia anymore.
In normal circumstances, I would have defended her with my life, but after the betrayal, I stopped seeing her as an important person. She doesn’t even matter to me anymore.
“Sir, I need to speak to you.
Are you at home? Do you mind if I show up?” I requested with humility.
“Okay! Are you free to come? Is there a concern? Is there something I should be worried about? You are beginning to sound like your wife already,” Dante raised the alarm.
He pressed my button to speak up, but I was reluctant and managed to seal my lips. The kind of act committed by Adrian wasn’t something to discuss over the phone.
It didn’t take me too long to arrive at Dante’s mansion. Thankfully for me, it wasn’t too far from where I was.
As I walked into the living room, I was welcomed by some domestic staff who made sure I was comfortable.
For once, I was treated like a king-something Olivia was unable to achieve in our years of marriage.
It’s barely a year since I last showed up at Dante’s mansion, and it already feels like forever.
A lot has changed about his home, from the interior to its atmosphere. It’s safe to say that Dante’s mansion is a paradise made on Earth.
“The boss already informed us about your arrival. He’s busy upstairs. Be not dismayed, he’ll join you shortly. Meanwhile, what would you like us to serve you?” the butler welcomed me after a brief introduction.
“Anything will be fine,”
I answered. I was too starstruck to respond freely. The most exquisite eatery in the city doesn’t even possess such courtesy.
It didn’t take too long for the butler to return with a bottle of vodka and a pack of juice, neatly arranged on a tray.
He dropped them on a golden stool right in front of me and said, “I hope you do enjoy the rest of your day, sir.”
Then he left afterward. The way he treated me, I was tempted to tip him as though he were a waiter due to his hospitality.
“I can see you are having a good time, aren’t you?” I heard a voice from close range. Before I could turn around to find out who spoke, a light-skinned man dressed in a brown robe walked down the stairs to join me.
