“Okay.” With him around, Agnes felt very reassured, and she finally found a bit of confidence. The car moved forward at a steady pace… The windows were rolled down, and the sunset streamed in, bathing them in a warm, soft light. Her foot lightly tapped the accelerator, and before she knew it, she had reached a speed of around 40.
Agnes was vigilant, in a very focused state. After all, she hadn’t yet obtained her driver’s license and didn’t want any accidents or to cause him any trouble.
“I have a coach’s license,” Tom said, seemingly noticing her tension. “Drive with peace of mind; if anything goes wrong, I’m here.”
“A coach’s license?” Agnes was surprised. She quickly glanced at him while driving. “How do you have that?”
“At my age, I’ve gotten every certificate I could,” Tom said nonchalantly. “In today’s society, having more skills is always good.”
Agnes admired him even more. This perspective was fantastic! This man was too outstanding!
“You’re amazing!” Agnes couldn’t help but praise him and then asked, “Was it busy at the company today?”
“Not too bad,” Tom replied. “Except for missing you a bit, everything else was fine.”
The girl couldn’t help but laugh, her heart feeling sweet. So longing really could be mutual.
Tom shared his day at the company with her and asked about her day at home. As they chatted, the car had traveled quite a distance without her realizing it… The initial tension of driving gradually faded away.
Today’s sunset was truly beautiful, painting half the sky red just like yesterday. The colors and shapes of the clouds constantly changed.
Even while driving, Agnes felt the gentle warmth of today’s sunset. It was an extremely romantic moment that lifted her spirits.
“Find a place to park up ahead,” Tom said to her. “The sun is setting; we can watch it together.”
“Alright.”
They hadn’t encountered many cars along the way. Agnes parked the car beside some reeds, turned off the engine, unbuckled her seatbelt, and got out of the car with him.
A gentle breeze brushed their faces as they stood there. The sunset was tender and romantic; the ever-changing clouds in the sky were beautiful. Just standing quietly together made them feel deeply enchanted.
Agnes didn’t want to go on a honeymoon trip, and Tom didn’t push it.
Perhaps this simple happiness was enough to satisfy her.
About half an hour later, as the red sun slowly sank below the horizon, Tom’s phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID; it was his mother calling. He answered with a swipe of his finger, “Hello, Mom.” He put it on speakerphone.
“When will you be back? Dinner is almost ready.”
“Okay, we’re heading back now.” With that, Tom hung up.
On the way home, Tom sat in the driver’s seat while Agnes sat in the passenger seat. As usual, he intertwined his fingers with hers, their palms quietly sharing warmth.
Peaceful and beautiful…
At the same time, in a university faculty office, lights were on inside.
Ansel sat at his desk, typing away on his keyboard, busy with work.
The youthful and vibrant Susan Clark walked in lightly. Seeing him still there made her quite happy.
She walked over to his desk. “Mr. Johnsons hasn’t left yet?”
Ansel looked up briefly from his work. “Yes, Miss Clark. I need to work late tonight.”
“What a coincidence; so do I.”
As she made coffee for herself, she also made a cup for Ansel.
He looked up in surprise. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” The girl smiled sweetly with bright eyes and white teeth before sitting down next to him and getting into work mode herself.
