ANASTASIA
“His Mate?” He asked, taking the word right out of my mouth.
I held back for a few seconds before nodding. “Yeah, that. You know people can spread rumors and make one look bad for bringing in someone unknown.”
“Are you unknown?” He questioned, rising to his feet and approaching me slowly.
I took a brief pause from that question and replied, clinging to the dress in my hold, “No.”
“Are you a stranger to me?” He asked, standing before me, with his hand running across my cheek.
Again, I responded without looking at him, “No.”
“Then why bother about some dogs who knows nothing about us?” He took my chin, lifting my head to face his.
I stared into Diego’s serious gaze, as he said, stealing my heart with every words he made, ” Mate, Luna, Whatever it is they are looking for… I own them no explanation about my personal life. If I choose to bring someone I find comfort in, then why not?”
I flushed, glancing and trying hard to resist the temptation of locking his lips with mine.
“I don’t care about what they say or think when they see Alpha Diego with a damsel like you,” He flirted, stroking my lips with his thumb. That feeling made me gasp out softly, almost causing my body to drool right into his arms.
“All I know is that I need my naughty girl by my side. So, you are coming with me,” He smirked, sliding his thumb off my lips so smoothly.
I almost had it in my mouth. I wanted to suck down on that hard thumb and just lose myself right there.
But I held back, allowing it to slid off freely, leaving my craving lips behind.
“So, does that mean I’m a part of the Mafia world?” I asked, seductively turning my back at Diego, with the dress close to my chest.
“Do you finally accept that a girl like me can actually fit in your dark world?” I bit down on my lower lip, stepping closer to the mirror to check the dress.
Diego came behind me and responded, whispering directly into my ear, “After everything I’ve witnessed so far… Maybe not completely.”
I saw how he smirked from the mirror, teasing me like always.
His naughty side got to me. I felt that heat burning inside my body.
“You just can’t accept the truth, can you?” I rolled my eyes, pushing him aside.
He chuckled and told me to keep the dress safe, expressing his desire to see me in it.
“Whatever?,” I said, acting like I didn’t care.
But as soon as I left his room, my whole body came engulfing with steaming vibes from the Alpha’s closeness and alluring words.
“His naughty girl,” I picked that nickname he gave me, and blushed beautifully at it.
Why does he have to be so attractive?
Gosh!
.
As Diego had said, we got ready for the party and went down to a hotel in Red Moon pack, taking a room which Alpha Lord here had booked before we arrived.
Once it was time for the bonding ceremony, Diego took me down to the party, which was located at the top floor of a luxurious Hall, and led me into the building like we were a couple.
The way he held me got me feeling like the most beautiful and luckiest girl alive.
I saw how other ladies, who came for this party, stared at us with envy in their gaze.
That bloomed my confidence further, making me proud.
I clinged closer to Diego, as we headed to the main Hall in an elevator.
On arriving at the top floor, I was amazed by the beautiful interior design of the place.
“Waw, your business partner really went all out on this,” I said, looking around.
The place was filled up with guests. Most of them looked familiar from the TV or from past occasions I’ve attended with my father.
The only thing that made me relieved more was the fact that none of the guests, mostly the familiar ones, weren’t present at my failed wedding with Damian.
Who knows how I’ll react if one person suddenly points out and calls me a freak.
“Be cool. Just relax,” I muttered, taking in a deep breathe, then out.
“Are you okay?” Diego asked on noticing my action.
I lifted my head to face him and nodded. “Yes, I’m…” I paused, picking something in the air.
It sensed familiar.
“Are you sure you’re okay? You seem lost, ” He pointed out, seeing how my attention fell on the crowded Hall, like I was searching for someone.
Yes, I was searching for someone, and that’s the owner of this scent that seems so common to me.
But where have I smelt that odor before?
“Crap! One thing I hate about parties,” Diego groaned, pulling me out of my thoughts.
He was referring to a chubby robust man, who walked up to Diego, looking all surprised to see him.
“I thought you don’t attend parties, Alpha Diego. This is the first time I’ll see you at one, ” The man chuckled, taking Diego’s hand without his concert and shaking hands with him.
When he saw me… “Oh waw. Who’s this angel next to you?” He asked curiously, running his eyes on me.
Diego responded, sounding cold and rude, “Why are you still fat?”
“Wow, relax man. I only asked a question.”
“Same thing here. I thought you said you were going on a diet? Seems your plans aren’t going well.” Diego hovered his gaze on the fellow, making him frown.
Having no other words to say, he just drew back and told us to enjoy the party.
“I hope to see you around, Alpha!”
“In your dreams,” Diego mumbled, walking to a different corner with me.
I didn’t want to ask any question about that whole drama, but when he repeated this with a few other people, I had to speak up.
“That’s harsh. Are they enemies in disguise or…”
“Just five percent are Mafias in disguise. The rest are just idiots who like to meddle in things that doesn’t concern them.” He ran his eyes around, before settling them on me.
I lifted my brow and asked, crossing my arms, “And the people you just destroyed with your words are?”
“Idiots, ” He responded with a shrug.
Honestly, I don’t know what to say about this man. It’s like his sweet side vanished after stepping into the hall.
“I know it’s not in your nature, but can you try to be less harsh and rude with others? Fine, they are idiots like you said, but just for my sake, put on a smile, please?” I pleaded, taking his hand into my hold and giving him the innocent gaze.
He stared at me emotionlessly but broke into a smile, agreeing to do as I wanted.
“Fine, as you wish.”
“Thank you,” I appreciated.
Soon, Diego’s phone began to ring out. He told me to wait for him while he went aside to answer the call that came in.
As I waited patiently for Alpha Lord’s return, while trying to blend in with the crowds, that scent from earlier came in again. But this time… It was close!
Before I could turn and search for where this troubling aura was coming from, I felt a hand pat me on the shoulder from behind.
Turning around to see who it was, my whole body system froze in shock!
“Oh my Goodness. Anastasia?!” Cassandra, my stepsister, exclaimed out in surprise!
Beside her stood my ex-mate himself, Alpha Damian. He was the one who tapped me from behind, gazing into my eyes astonishingly!
Dammit! They are here?!
