DIEGO
The next morning, I began preparing for the trip to Southern Dale.
My plane was set for the evening, but I wasn’t completely ready yet.
“Anna,” I thought about my aid and went over to her room to make sure she was set. She’s the only thing left on my list before this trip can commence.
Getting closer to her door, I met Anna holding a pile of clothes in her arms and talking to a maid outside her room. The maid took them from her, nodding at her words.
When she saw me, her smile faded and she became all serious like last night again.
I don’t know why she has decided to act like this towards me. I won’t allow her to get into my head.
“Are you ready?” I asked her, watching the maid leave with her laundry.
Anna sighed and responded, crossing her arms at me, ” Not yet. I want to see if she can get those clothes cleaned and dried before evening.”
“Don’t you have any other clothes in there?” I signaled to the room, wondering why a lady like herself would lack clothes.
When Anna narrowed her gaze at me, I was swift to understand the message behind that look.
“Don’t give me that stare. You should have told your Beta lover to get you more dresses that night. He even gave you some money. Why don’t you use your money to buy wears?” I frowned at Anna, who squinted her eyes and responded, “Like you’re going to give me the freedom to get the dresses I want without making my life miserable.”
“Misera…” I paused, holding back the anger rising in me.
“Just be cool, Diego. Remember the plan. You need her help, so just stay calm,” I calmed my temper, reciting those words in my mind.
Once my anger came dying down, I sighed and suggested to Anna, “How about we head out for shopping? You can pick all the clothes you need and I won’t bug you.”
That idea brought a shimmer on her face. And when I saw it, I felt… Strange.
Anna agreed and decided to get her phone so we would leave. I returned to the living room to wait for her.
“We’ll just get her some clothes and back here,” I said, drumming my fingers on the wall.
Anna soon came over and we left, heading into the pack to shop in one of the luxurious boutiques in Crescent.
When we entered the store, the attendants began to hover around me like flies, showing their delight in having their Alpha in their store.
Even their customers had their eyes on me, looking excited.
“Please, have a seat!”
“Tell us what you want and we will get it for you, Alpha Diego.”
“You want nice suits? How about trousers?”
They were too excited that they completely ignored Anna’s presence. They didn’t realize we came together. She was behind me when they all gathered, snubbing her.
“We have the best offer for you, Alpha. You are going to love it.”
“Have some tea. It’s on us,” One said, pouring a mug for me while the others were trying to get me to have a seat on a comfy chair and buy something from them.
Their hospitality towards me began to irritate me. Not because they were being too nice, but due to the fact that they just ignored Anna.
I watched her move into the ladies section, checking out the dresses she laid her eyes on. She had a smile on her face, looking quite adorable and innocent. She didn’t look like the crazy brat I knew, but someone else.
When she caught sight of a dress she liked, she tried to get the attention of an attendant, who was dressed differently from the others. But the lady she was signaling just glared at Anna and walked away, heading towards my direction.
Her action made Anna upset. I saw her smile fading away. And that affected my mood.
When Anna dropped her eyes at my point and saw how they all gathered me, she became annoyed. She angrily dumped the dress aside and walked further into the section, vanishing out of my sight.
That got to me. I became angry with the way she was being treated.
The lady who didn’t answer Anna drew nearer to me with a suit in her hold and said, “It’s so nice to have you here, Alpha. I’m the manager. I noticed this design matches the one you’re wearing. And we have a lot of them here.”
“Why didn’t you answer that lady when she called you?” I questioned, silencing them all.
The manager kept smiling and asked, ” Which one, Alpha?”
“Are you blind now? You mean to tell me that you didn’t see the woman you just ignored?!” I raised my voice, startling everyone.
They froze and dropped their eyes on the manager, who shivered at my tone and said, “Oh, that lady? She… She was just asking for something we don’t have. I didn’t want her troubling me when you need our attendance. It was important to face our ruler.”
The liar. She thinks I didn’t see everything?!
“Did I ask you or anyone here to get me anything? You’ve been displaying your items at my face yet I didn’t utter a word! Does that mean I want to buy something?!” I questioned, glaring at them.
They quivered, dragging their feet back.
The manager lowered her head and began to apologize. “I’m sorry for the misunderstanding, Alpha. We thought you wanted to shop. We are sorry.”
“I don’t need your fake apologies. The one who needs it more came here with me. But you just disrespected her because you don’t know her! Is that how you treat my people when they come in to shop?!”
On hearing what I said, they immediately realized that Anna and I were together. They gasped and began to look back, trying to spot where she had stepped into.
“We didn’t know, Alpha. We are so sorry.”
“Quick, go and get our guest and…”
“Enough!” I shunned them, stepping into the lady’s section to find Anna on my own.
As I walked in further to the back, I finally spotted her standing in front of a mirror in a hidden spot, staring at her reflection.
She was checking her appearance and didn’t look happy.
Her mood affected me in a weird way, forcing me to walk up to her and see how she was doing.
When she saw me coming through the mirror, she immediately frowned and turned around to face me.
She crossed her arms and asked, sounding annoyed with the way things went, “Why are you here? You’re not the one who’s shopping for new clothes.”
“But I’m the one who brought you here to shop. Doesn’t that give me the right to be here?”
“Yeah, because you’re the Alpha. A very important person. Woohoo,” She spoke sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
Her behavior was a clear sign that she was bittered with the treatment she got, and I could tell through the way she spike rudely to me.
I’m supposed to spark and start arguing with her, but this time… “How about we ditch this place?” I suggested, wrapping my arm around her shoulder.
“This people don’t know how to treat a customer. They are only after those they find interesting, and I don’t like people like that,” I said, frowning my face as well.
Anna saw this and slowly mellowed her temper. She asked, looking at me, “What did they do to you? Did one of them try to hit on you or what?”
“No, they disrespected you, and I won’t stand for that,” I revealed, surprising Anna.
I saw her cheeks glow red, as she flushed at my words, lowering her head quickly.
The sight of this shy side sent a wave into my body. I didn’t know what was happening right there with us, but… It was clear we were communicating like normal people without annoying the other, for the first time.
“Hmm, you want to leave because they disrespecred me? Why do I smell a foul play here? ” She lifted her head, squinting her eyes suspiciously at me.
“Just say you’re trying to be so nice so I won’t make my request when we’re done with the mission.”
“You keep proving to me every time that something is indeed wrong with your head.” I poked the side of her head.
Anna immediately drew away from me with a groan and said, ” You can’t fool me, Alpha. But I’ll only leave this place since you want me to. I also don’t like the service here.”
She gave a smirk, rolling her eyes at me before walking pass my way.
I found myself simpering at her stubbornness, before turning over and following Anna from behind.
