The swimsuit was placed in front of Charlotte. She didn’t move, seemingly nervous, looking up at Nelson.
He seemed puzzled because what Callie had said earlier made some sense.
“The swimsuit is very revealing,” she said.
Nelson glanced at it, “It’s just a few minutes, you can change after swimming.”
There was no tenderness in his words.
“Miss Ellison, do you still have concerns?” Mr. Melton, who had been enthusiastic, gradually lost interest, seemingly blaming her for being troublesome.
“No.”
Feeling a bit disappointed for not receiving Nelson’s support, Charlotte took the swimsuit and went to change.
While waiting, Callie appeared calm on the surface, but her palms were sweating with nervousness. She wasn’t sure what she was worried about; perhaps it was anticipation…
Jamir handed her a glass of orange juice from somewhere, “Drink some, it will calm you down.”
Callie frowned but took it after a moment.
Then she stared at one of the women in the pool and suddenly said, “I’ve seen this person before. She works in Dragon City.”
Jamir didn’t understand the significance of this.
“Being able to mobilize someone from Dragon City to entertain your business partners here, Jamir, that’s impressive,” Callie said with a half-smile, staring intently at his expression.
Jamir was momentarily surprised but quickly regained his composure, “You’ve been to Dragon City?”
Callie admitted, “Yes, and I saw you there.”
He chuckled, “No wonder I thought that person looked so much like you that day. You weren’t with Nelson, were you?”
His voice was neither too loud nor too soft. Callie feared Nelson might hear and changed the subject, “What’s your relationship with them?”
Charlotte came out after changing. Jamir watched her walk over, “The Quinn family has many businesses. Is it strange that I invest in one or two promising clubs?”
Of course, it wasn’t strange, but the fact that it was Dragon City made Callie suspicious. She nodded, “I don’t have any evidence, so whatever you say goes.”
Charlotte stood in front of Nelson, “Nelson, does this look okay?”
She was wearing something thin. He glanced at her, “It’s fine.”
“Since everyone is ready, let’s begin,” Mr. Melton finally regained his interest.
Callie stood far away. Charlotte was facing her directly, so she couldn’t see her back.
At Mr. Melton’s whistle, several people entered the water and swam towards the other side. Charlotte wasn’t a strong swimmer and lagged behind. By the time the others were almost done, she was just starting her return trip.
It was then that Callie could finally see Charlotte’s back. It wasn’t very obvious, but there was indeed a birthmark.
As she swam closer, Callie saw the exact location of the birthmark-a small red mark on the butterfly bone area, shaped like a cloud.
Callie confirmed she wasn’t mistaken. Her whole body tensed up, and the glass she was holding slipped from her hand, crashing to the ground and spilling orange juice everywhere.
Jamir was the first to react, “What’s wrong?”
Nelson looked over and saw Jamir shielding Callie behind him. Jamir was extremely tense while Callie’s lips were pale as if she had seen something terrifying.
Nelson instinctively took a step forward when Charlotte suddenly called out, “Nelson.”
He stopped.
She reached out from the water, “Help me up.”
He looked down, his gaze falling on her birthmark. That mark made his furrowed brow slowly relax and his expression softened a bit.
“Get up,” he said as he bent down to pull her up, ignoring the strain on her back injury.
Callie continued to stare at Charlotte. Besides her pale face, even her hands were trembling.
