Andrew’s POV
I got up and looked at my phone for probably the thirtieth time today only to see Shenaya’s name disappear because of the low backlight on the LCD screen of my phone. She still wasn’t picking up. Not a single call or even a damn text message from her.
She had been acting weird since the night we kissed and it’s been awkward between u. She had been avoiding me like a plague since the last time e saw her at the club. I do not want to drag Lilah into this, but with Shenaya’s attitude, I think I will have to. Aiden is here and this is the time I have to make her mine. Even if I have to play the victim here to make her mine I will. I know Lilah would be in my favor because she had always wanted Shenaya and me to be together. She once mentioned that we would be a perfect couple.
Everyone could see it, I don’t know why Shenaya herself isn’t seeing it the way she should. I could have used a spell on her like Skylar did on Aiden years ago but she wasn’t my mate. It could only work on fated mates and not chosen mates.
I got into my car and drove straight to where Lilah’s store. I crossed the driveway to the store, I felt like a schoolboy with a heartache when I spotted Shenaya’s car already parked outside. She was here. I tried to calm my nerves by releasing a heavy breathe I didn’t even know I was holding. This was something I could not afford to lose and I took my chance immediately.
As soon as I entered the store, the little bell hanging above the door swung to announce my arrival, and both Shenaya and Lilah turned to see me. They were in the middle of a conversation when I walked in but the moment that Shenaya saw me she tensed up and her face became pale. She didn’t want me here. Ok.
“Andrew? It’s been a while!” Lilah said, my eyes caught Shenaya and I could see her mouth form the word, ‘hello,’ before a cough cut her off.
“How are you?” she finally said.
I smiled back at her Pulled out a chair beside Lilah and sat down, I forced a smile.
“Hey, Lilah.” I glanced over at Shenaya. “Hi,” I greeted her. She couldn’t even raise her head to meet my gaze.
“Hello, it was nice to meet you both too,” I continued in a mocking tone, and saw Lilah laugh a slight giggle, I’m sure she didn’t sense the tension between me and Shenaya.
“What’s up?” I asked, focusing on Shenaya. “What’s with the long face?”
Lilah’s face changed from her usual friendly look to a sad face and let out a sigh.
“Aiden’s crazy ex-mate, Skylar is back, she has been coming to see Zoey at school.” she paused and I froze. “This is why Shenaya is looking all pale because she had been on the lookout for the crazy witch.”
My heart stopped. Skylar? Skylar is back?
My thoughts began churning with this in mind. Skylar shouldn’t be alive, I made sure of that myself. It simply would have been impossible for her to be back to life. And If she was back, how did she find Zoey? Our daughter? How? This didn’t make any sense.
I faked a smile and looked away quickly to hide my shock.
Shenaya didn’t say anything, her hands twisted on her lap. There was something more to this than what Lilah was saying and whatever that was she was not willing to let it out.
I needed to get out of there. I couldn’t stay. My thoughts were fast and already trying to plan the following actions. If Skylar was alive and decided to contact Zoey, it was only a matter of time before she turned to me. I know I am Poerful but Skylar should not be underestimated. I killed her myself and now she’s back to life.
“i… I have to go.” Lilah frowned, she seemed worried. “Are you all right, Andrew?”
I simply nodded my head “Yes, yes just realized I have some important work to attend to. I’ll see you both later.”
With that, I pivoted around and walked out not waiting for her response feeling the heat of her gaze on my back. I knew Shenaya was hiding something from me but first, I had to come to terms with, Skylar was indeed alive again. I was the man she should be chasing, there was no need for her to be chasing after Shenaya.
I started my car and drove away; as soon as I could get out of the driveway, I called one of my most reliable sources.
“Brent.” I say immediately he got on the line, “I want you to tail someone for me now.”
“Sure thing, Mighty. Who is it?”
I hesitated for a second. To say her name meant that she was indeed alive and even not anywhere in the world but Paris under my nose. “Skylar. To me and only me Skylar has to be found and I want her to be brought alive.
I heard a silence for a while on the other end of the line. “Wait… Skylar? I thought you-”
“I did,” I jerked back, and my voice came out aggressive. “But she’s back. Alive. I don’t care how you want to find her. Just find her. Fast.”
“Yes, Mighty. I’ll make the team get on it,” Brent replied, and the line dropped on him.
I held the wheel firmly feeling the darkening color of my knuckles. If Skylar was alive, then she must have a plan. And I had to know what it was before she could put it into action. Shenaya and Zoey might be her way of getting to me, but no chance would happen.
I stayed in my home office and walked around, trying to be patient for Brent to call me back. It had been hours since I received the news of Skylar’s resurrection and I couldn’t get used to it. Every possibility went through my mind and none was good, each one was worse than the other.
Finally, my phone rang. I picked it up before it could ring again.
“speak.”
“We’ve located her,” Brent said, I released a breath of relief. “She’s been quite on the down low in one of the cabins on the outskirts of this town.”
“Good. Keep her there. I’m coming.” My heart pounded in my chest.
Deciding not to replace the coat I had worn all day inside the house, I stepped out with a slight chill in the air. My thoughts tumbled back to the day I took her life and I was so sure she wasn’t using any magic and that she was dead. How could she be Alive?
I had to see her. I had to know what the hell was going on there.
When I got to the cabin, Brent and a team he had assembled were already Outside. I stood in front of the door.
“Are you ready for this?” Brent asked standing next to me.
I didn’t answer, but instead, I pushed the door.
The cabin was entirely covered in dimness, and only a small candle was lit on the table.
And there she was. Skylar. Sitting in the corner with a nasty-looking grin that only seemed to be intensified by the fact that she had been, unquestionably waiting for me.
“Might or should I say, Andrew? ,” she said seductively, and for some reason, her voice gave me the shivers, so I shivered. “It’s been a while.”
For a second or two, I was rooted to the spot and simply gaped at her, my brain was unable to absorb what my eyes were telling me. She was alive. Alive. Which makes it rather bewildering to look at her now and get the feeling that she is the same girl that gave birth to my child, Zoey.
“How the hell are you alive?” I said this in a growling voice.
She giggled softly and got up from the chair, she began to walk towards me slowly.
“Do you think it will be so easy to get rid of me? Oh, Mighty, you should know better. I always come back.”
I tightened my fists, I felt my heart thumping and I stopped just an inch away from her. “Why Zoey? Why are you pursuing my daughter?”
She looked suddenly grave and the delight fled from her face, she drew in her breath and her lips tightened.
“Because she’s also my daughter.”
The grin on Skylar’s face grew back, even more sinister than before.
“Oh, Andrew. You don’t need to get her for me. I know my way around.”
I just wanted to punch her in the face but before I could do something, Brent moved closer and held me. “Do you want us to take her?”
“No. Not yet.” I looked at her steadily, shook my, head
Getting here no made me realize that we didn’t find Skylar, she found us first and made us come to her. Whatever her plans may be I knew this was just the beginning.
