Aiden’s Pov
It had been weeks since the attack on my Pack and the taste of defeat left me broken in more ways than one. The ambush was swift, brutal, and unexpected. Mighty didn’t just come for Skylar, he came to destroy me and words had spread across territories, leaving my pack vulnerable to attacks from any other pack. I cried for my failure at defending my territory and now my pack which used to be one of the most feared and most peaceful packs in Rome is left stack naked.
I couldn’t bear the humiliation. I buried myself in the room for a while before I could stand feet again. I knew this was not the time to be weak. So I stood up and was ready to take responsibility for everything. I told my warriors to go back into training because now that word had spread across the territories, Alpha would wan to claim my pack and they would come with war. I already lost my dignity, I wasn’t ready to lose my pack. Not now, not ever.
I searched every nook and cranny of territories and packs in Rome for Skylar and her shadow lover, Mighty but I found nothing, it was as if they had disappeared into thin air. They didn’t leave a trace behind. Every source Interrogated knew nothing about them. I sent some of my men to Sylar’s pack and what they found left me with more questions. It turned out Skylar had been sidelined by her people because that same night they attacked My pack, they also attacked Skylar’s pack. Why they did that, no one knew.
Now Skylar is an outcast because they had severed every tie with her completely and no one knew where she had gone since then. Even her mother tried to trace her but she was cloaked in dark magic so she was untraceable.
I knew this war had just begun. Mighty’s assault was just the beginning, a prelude to something dark. It wasn’t like his attack was unexpected but the way they attacked wasn’t something they planned just to rescue Skylar. There was more to it. When I looked into his eyes, I caught something familiar but I couldn’t figure it out. The thought of him planning another attack on my pack to take over my territory, made my blood run cold.
My thought clouded around Shenaya again. She and my pup are vulnerable. I knew they were safe because the fight happened far from the pack so it didn’t affect pack members in any way but it was strange that I hadn’t heard anything from her since the day she last came.
I couldn’t blame her for not showing up, I threatened to kill her if she ever showed her face in front of me again. I am determined to bring her back. I had failed them once but I won’t fail them again.
I set out for her father’s house and as I drove down there, my mind ached with the thought of her face. It’s been so long since I last so her. She would have given birth to our pup by now and I wondered if my baby was healthy. Is it a boy or a girl? Did the child look like me? Would she allow me to be a part of their lives after everything she’d been through because of me?
I just realized how cruel I had been to her. She wasn’t ready but I made her pregnant just because I wanted her so bad, she had to deal with my crazy made who threw her from the cliff while she was pregnant, and aftersurvivingd that, I betrayed her by denying the pregnancy even though I was under Skylar’s hold. She didn’t know that. To top it all, none of my family members had checked up on her, not Lucy, not Moth, er, and not even my father. How do I face her right now?
The guilt weighed heavily on my shoulders, but I was the Alpha, and if Shenaya refused to return, I had other ways to ensure her compliance. The contract we signed was still valid, and if necessary, I could use the Alpha’s command on her. After all, she was my little Omega, and her duty was to obey.
I stopped the car right in front of her father’shouses stepped out of the car, and made my way to the front porch. I could hear the pounding in my chest but I had to maintain my composure. I knocked on the door and waited for a response but I got nothing. I knocked harder to make sure someone heard me but nothing came. It was so quiet and evident that no one was home.
I find it strange that no one was home, not even her father. I wanted to know what was going on so I twisted the door knob and to my greatest surprise, the door cracked open. I stepped in slowly, my eyes adjusting to the dim light in the house. The whole place was dusty and crusty. It looked like no one lived here formonthsh. It looked abandoned and deserted.
“What is going on here?” I muttered under my breath. “Where could they have gone?”
I made my way out to find answers. I knocked on the door and after a few moments, a middle-aged woman appeared. She looked like she had seen a ghost because yeah, I wasn’t someone to be seen just anywhere.
“Alpha,” she bowed slightly to greet me, “To what do I owe the visit.” She said with nervousness evident in her voice.
“Where is Shenaya and her father?” I asked trying to keep my voice composed.
“They no longer live here, they left.” Still keeping her head down.
“They left? What do you mean, they left?” I asked in confusion, taking a step closer. “Where did they go?”
“Shenaya left months ago, and her father left last month,” she explained, glancing back at the empty house.
“Left to where?” I pressed, my frustration growing.
“No one knows, Alpha,”
“Give me details of how they left”
“I honestly do not know anything Alpha,” she said while still shaking her head, “All I knew was, a few months ago, a black SUV drove in to pick her up and she never returned. Last month, after the attack, the same SUV came to pick her father up and he hadn’t come back,” she said.
“He didn’t happen to mention where he was going?” I asked again.
“No Alpha, Shenaya and her father are the most secretive people I know. They barely told anybody anything.” She finished.
A black SUV? Shenaya and her family had lived in my pack almost all their lives. They had no family outside this pack, they knew no one that I knew of. Where could they have gone?
As I turned to leave, a sudden flood of emotion washed over me. A feeling of loss and emptiness settled inside me. I staggered slightly to maintain my balance. I put my hand over my chest to stop the pain in my pounding heart. A realization of what was happening hit me. Two people are rejecting my pack at the same time and I think I know who they are. Shanaya and her father are breaking their both to me as their Alpha. They are accepting another pack. Which pack could it be? Will I ever find them?
