Callie couldn’t grasp his meaning and walked around him, still calm. “I’ve bandaged it up, I’m leaving now.”
Nelson just looked at her nonchalantly.
Before leaving, she reminded him, “Remember to go to the hospital for an X-ray.”
“Anthony will remember.”
He didn’t seem to care about his own body. Callie fell silent, said nothing more, and left the room.
Just before the door closed, she saw the lonely figure of the man standing in the light and shadow. However, they were no longer related.
Thinking of this, Callie couldn’t help but smile bitterly.
From Nelson’s room to her own, she had to pass through a corridor with a viewing balcony overlooking the endless river view. Many business people gathered there to discuss matters.
Callie hurried past with a mask on, not paying attention, and suddenly bumped into a figure. The person’s chest was hard, causing her to step back and cry out in pain as her forehead hurt.
The nearby waiter’s voice stopped abruptly. “Miss, please be careful.”
Callie raised her eyes. “Sorry.”
Before the word “sorry” fully left her lips, she saw who it was and immediately frowned.
Jamir was dressed in a black suit today, looking very ascetic. His face was calm, exuding the demeanor of someone in power, no longer resembling the spirited young man from years ago.
Callie didn’t recognize this side of Jamir but knew it was him.
“Miss?” The waiter repeated when he saw her dazed.
“Oh.” Callie came back to her senses and saw the waiter holding a suitcase. She guessed that Jamir had just checked in. Most people in this hotel were here for the summit; it would be strange if he, being from Anbusea, wasn’t here.
“Sorry.” Callie nodded slightly and tried to leave directly after apologizing, but her wrist was grabbed, making her body stiffen.
Jamir held her slender hand for only two seconds before letting go. “You’re hurt.”
Her hand had been scraped during the fight earlier. The wound was small, but he noticed it.
“Thank you for your concern, Jamir. I’ll take care of it.”
Jamir raised an eyebrow, his lips tightly pressed together.
Callie withdrew her hand without looking at him again and walked away.
Even after returning to her private space, she was still somewhat surprised. Although Jamir had expressed his feelings and appeared in front of her once or twice, his presence was very low. It seemed like his words were casual and not serious.
Like an insignificant item, if he didn’t speak first, she almost forgot he existed.
The summit continued the next day. The round table meeting was still crowded with people. The media focus was no longer on Nelson and Callie.
“Jamir, Jamir is here.”
Callie looked up and saw Jamir entering surrounded by a group of people. He had the same dignified demeanor as yesterday but appeared more approachable in front of the cameras.
“Hello everyone, I am Jamir, acting executive of the Quinn Group. I am pleased to see you all in such a setting.” Jamir stood on the podium and gave a speech.
Callie wore gold-rimmed glasses and watched him from afar, trying to see the arrogant boy from back then but found nothing.
He seemed to sense something unusual and casually glanced at her. His strong demeanor suddenly softened.
Callie almost panicked and looked away quickly, but in doing so, she fell into Nelson’s gaze, who had been watching her all along.
He didn’t know how long he had been looking at her. His eyes were full of amusement. Seeing her flustered, his amusement deepened.
