~YULIA
“He can hear you, Lana,” I whispered as we both sat together in the living room on the sofa where Issa and I had fucked.
“Oh, super hearing, I forgot,” Lana said as she covered her mouth with her right hand and blushed in embarrassment.
She had called Jamal handsome and I glanced at the detective’s direction to see that he was smiling.
Why did Issa call Jamal here? To be a bodyguard? I was not so sure but I did not mind it because he was part of the team now.
“So, tell me, how have you been?” I asked her, genuinely interested in her response.
“I do not know how loaded your uncle is, but he has got me living like a princess,” Lana said excitedly. “When I asked him about the expenses, he told me not to worry about it,” she added in disbelief.
“He believes what happened to you was his fault, and this is how he is trying to make amends,” I told her. “But have you gone back to the house?”
“Yeah, everything is back to normal, and even the windows have been fixed,” She said then her expression turned to worry. “But I can not help feeling like I am being watched every time I go back to that apartment.”
I frowned a little. “How so?”
“I get goosebumps every time I get close to the apartment and sometimes, I keep feeling like someone is waiting for me to sleep over and pounce on me all over again, that is why I just stay for like a minute before I run back to the hotel,” She replied.
I felt so sad that she could not return to her home because of me.
“I am so sorry, Lana, this is all my fault,” I said in a dejected tone.
“Do not be like that, Yulia, if not for you and Issa, I would be dead right now, so please come off it,” She said.
I sighed and changed the subject. “So, how is school?” I asked.
“It is pretty much the same,” Lana said with a shrug. “Oh, and do you remember Pete? That cute guy that you dated for a while?” She asked and I grew very worried.
“Yeah, I do. What about him?”
“You would not believe it, but he has been asking me out on a date for some time now, it was so out of blue,” Lana said with a mixture of a smile and confusion.
“Have you gone on any with him?” I asked quickly.
“I told him to give me time to think about it, because you and him dated and I do not want things to be weird,” She replied.
I heaved a sigh of relief. “Do not in any way be alone with him, Lana, trust me, he is bad news,” I warned her.
Lana widened her eyes in surprise when she saw my switch of mood. “What happened?”
“He got physical with me in my new school, and Jamal had to come to my rescue,” I told her. Lana looked over at Jamal who was busy on his phone. If he heard me, he made no attempt to show it.
“Then I found out that his father sells drugs for the Russian werewolves,” I added. “You should have heard the things he said to me when Issa confronted him, he is a piece of shit, Lana, stay away.”
“Then why was he calling me?” Lana asked herself.
“To hurt you or worse in order to get back at me,” I told her.
“Why?”
“Issa broke his arms,” I said with a guilty shrug.
Her mouth dropped in surprise and she stared at me, wide eyed for a while before she finally got the courage to speak. “Your uncle is so… overprotective.”
I was still trying to decide if I should tell her that Issa and I were now beyond uncle or niece but the sound of a vehicle interrupted our discussion.
Jamal was quick to get on his feet and headed towards the door. “You both stay back,” He ordered. I heard the car door open and slam shut.
“Who is it?” Lana whispered.
I shrugged. Then Jamal walked in with Iris behind him and my stomach churned.
She was clad in a sexy but elegant business dress suit and the heels on her feet were high. She looked around the house like she owned it until her eyes fell on me and Lana.
“Where is your uncle, Yulia,” She asked and I could feel her cold voice wash over me.
“I thought he was at your company?” I asked.
“He did not show up at the office today, so I came here to check up on him,” Iris replied.
Did Andrea ever tell her about Issa and I? She did not seem to look like she knew what was going on between us for now.
I shrugged. “I don’t know what to tell you, he said he was going to the office,” I replied.
Iris took a seat on a sofa across from Lana and I. “I will wait for him,” She said as crossed her legs.
“Suit yourself,” I muttered.
“Human,” Iris said in a firm voice as she looked at Lana. “Be useful and get me a drink,” She ordered.
I scoffed and pulled Lana back on her seat.
“You are not a guest, Iris, get it yourself,” I spat out maliciously. “And no one here is your servant.”
Iris smiled coldly. “You are friends with the human, how sweet,” She mused. I could hear the mockery in her tone.
“And you have no friends, how sad,” I replied.
“Issa and I will do something about your accommodation here when we finalize our wedding plan, I can not have his adopted niece living with us,” Iris said.
I scoffed. “Your delusions are so expensive,” I replied and scoffed. “I cannot even afford to understand it.”
Iris glared at me. “He told you,” She said with cold realization.
“He tells me everything…” I replied with a smug smile.
“Why would he tell you about our business? Why are you so important that he would tell you such a thing?” Iris asked, looking me deep in my eyes.
Have I said too much?
