I stayed up all night, impatient for the sun to rise.
Whereas my Yulia slept like a baby though. It had been a long day yesterday and thankfully, it was the weekend, so there was no school today.
I ignored numerous calls from Deucalion as the morning came. It was supposed to be a big day at the office but I had no desire to enter the Callion building for now. I needed to figure out another way to get the moon key from Deucalion.
I changed into a fitted black jean and a t-shirt of the same colour. I went to the closet on the right side of the room, careful not to wake up Yulia.
I parted the clothes that I had hanged until I could clearly see the box. It was more like a chest but it was made of pure adamantine. It was near indestructible and it had ancient markings of runes and hieroglyphs of stories etched all over it. I had not been able to translate the words because the language was a lost forgotten one.
I called it the moon box and, on its lid, it had a small round intricate hole where a key was meant to be placed on it. That key was in Deucalion’s possession.
Marianna had found the box hidden behind the doors of a secret room at Yulia’s home where we had found her dead parents. They had given their lives to protecting the box, so I knew that whatever was inside was very important.
I felt Yulia stir in her sleep and I quickly hid the box and closed the closet. There was no need for her to know about the box just yet. There were still some sacrifices we needed to stop from happening.
I turned to see Yulia and I saw that she was still deep asleep but she had a faint glow all over her body. She was pulsing with a warm bright light and I stood there mesmerized by how almost angelic she looked as she slept and glowed.
I held my breath afraid that I was going to wake her and interrupt whatever was happening before my very eyes. I knew that her powers were beginning to awaken and this was only going to attract more dangers lurking in the dark.
Then again, all those who worshipped evil had to deal with me first before they could even dream of getting to her.
I was the shadow they had to go through before they could even get to her light. It was happening all over again, I could already see the lives that I was going to end. Yulia came with light, a beautiful light, but this light of hers was going to bring death in the thousands.
After a while, the glowing light dimmed and everything went back to normal. That was when I heard a car pull up in my driveway. I raised my brows as I was expecting a package for Yulia. I left the room and went downstairs to the door.
It was a big black escalade with tinted glasses. The door opened and out stepped Miles. This was not the package that I was waiting for but I knew that Miles showing up here meant that he had valuable information to share.
“You look like shit,” I said as I watched him closely.
“I have not had a goodnight sleep in weeks, Boss,” Miles replied. There was a large file of papers tucked under his left arm.
“What do you have for me?” I asked as he approached me.
He handed me the files and I opened them. It was filled with snap shots of some people I did not recognize. The pictures were twelve in number.
“Those are the leaders of the cult,” He said.
Eight women and four men.
I etched my brows at him. “How do you know that they are the real ones?”
“Look closely at their necks,” he said.
They all had identical tattoos of roses etched by the side of their necks.
“Should I show the detective?” Miles asked.
“No,” I shook my head at him. “I will deal with this myself.” Then I patted Miles on the shoulder. “Take the week off, you have earned it, leave the rest to me.”
“Sure thing, boss,” Miles said with a small smile and entered into his car.
He waved at me from the inside before he drove off. I stood for a while watching him leave before I turned around and walked back into the house.
I met Yulia yawning and stretching her limbs.
“Did you sleep well? I asked. She nodded and her ruffled hair shook. I smiled despite the situation we were currently facing.
“I have a surprise for you,” I told her.
“What is it?” She asked in a drowsy voice as her eyes slowly widened.
I gave her a knowing stare and looked down at my watch hoping that the driver would not screw up the package he was supposed to deliver.
As if on cue, a car pulled in and I smiled. The driver made it on time.”Come and see for yourself,” I told her and together we went down the stairs.
We barely made it outside when Yulia saw what I had arranged for her.
“Lana!” She shrieked happily as she saw her friend. They both hugged each other in high excitement.
Jamal was the driver. “You are on babysitting duty until I get back,” I told him.
“I am not your personal chauffeur, Frostwood,” he growled.
“Sure you are, if you really care about her safety, besides, I have a feeling someone will come pay a visit,” I told him.
“What are you up to?” he asked and I could hear the suspicion in his voice.
“Yulia, Jamal is going to stay here with you and Lana, I have to get to the office,” I told Yulia who was still chatting with her human friend. She nodded quickly and continued to pay attention to her friend.
I left Jamal standing there without answering him.
I planned to show him the pictures when I was certain that I could get to the people in the file. I entered my Porsche and rode out of the garage.
I lied. I was not going to the office; I was going to my second secret office that no one knew about. Not even Miles knew about it.
I drove some miles till I reached deep into the city and parked my car in front of a flower shop called Swedish Pollens. I killed the engine and took the files with me before I locked my car.
I entered the flower shop and approached a bald man in thick glasses.
“Welcome to Swedish Pollens, what flowers would you like?” The man said pleasantly.
“Angiospermous,” I said firmly. The man smiled.
“Welcome back Lycan Frostwood, it has been a while,” he said and pushed a button behind the counter. The floor beneath me broke into a square and began to descend. I was lowered underground into a transparent tube.
“Welcome to Sentry Incorporated,” An automated female voice rang out.
