~ISSA
I had a lot of questions for her but I knew that I had to thread carefully.
I had seen the scroll she was reading and I knew that she was beginning to look for answers about who she was. I knew the time would come when I would no longer be able to hide the truth from her.
If Marianna was here, she would be smirking at me right now. She had always wanted to reveal Yulia’s origin but I had been against it because I knew that there were forces out there who wished her harm. A lot of people had plans… evil ones for Yulia and I needed to shield her from them.
I used to believe that the less she knew about herself, the better but now that her dormant powers were manifesting, there was no point in hiding the truth any more. She was not stupid.
“I am so sorry about Ashley,” Yulia said as we walked down the stairs of the library.
I smiled. “I like her.”
Yulia corked her brows suspiciously at me for a split second before rolling her eyes. “The whole fan girl behaviour was unexpected, it caught me off guard.”
I shrugged. “It feels good to have a fan.” I a small smile formed on my face as we continued leaving..
We walked side by side, slowly as we were not in a hurry to go anywhere in particular. I could feel how hesitant she was to speak about what happened in class today. I knew that she had questions and I had no choice but to tell them the answers.
“I can tell that you have questions, Yulia,” I said to her. “It’s okay to ask.”
“That’s the problem, Issa,” She said. “Can I trust you to be open with me?”
She asked. I understood why she felt like she could not trust me. I had been preventing her from talking to Jamal whom she believed had the answers to her problem.
I held her hand and gently pulled her to a stop. The students walking about the campus area were looking at us curiously as they passed but I did not care. I was an attention magnet, so I was used to it.
“You have my word, Yulia. I admit that I was stopping you from asking questions because for the first time in my long life I was afraid. I am still fearful and it is not something I admit to easily,” I softly told her.
“What are you afraid of?” She asked in a soft voice, as if afraid of letting anyone hear us.
Her silver-grey eyes pulled me in and I wanted to lose myself in them. My gaze moved to those soft lips and I pictured them wrapped around my cock for the second time today. It was hard to open up to just anyone about my innermost fears and worries but with Yulia, it was easy to talk to her.
“Losing you to this madness that is doomed to come,” I said to her. “A storm is brewing, Yulia, and it’s heading straight for us.”
“Does it have anything to do with me?” She asked in a voice that was filled with fear and worry.
I clenched my fists in anger. I hated seeing her afraid. I wanted to tell her that she had nothing to worry about but that would be a lie and I had already given her my word to be honest with her.
“You are at the centre of everything, it starts and ends with you,” I told her. “I saw the scroll you were reading. You are looking for answers and I have some of them.”
“Will you tell them to me?” She asked and I could detect the hope in her tone.
I could never deny her anything ever again. My bond with her would never allow it. Even if I lied, I was sure that she would be able to detect my deception.
“Let us go somewhere more private, where we would not be interrupted by anyone,” I told her.
She nodded with a relieved smile.
“Can we go and see Leia?” She asked.
I frowned with clear disdain. I had barely managed to ditch one Craven female, I was not so sure I had the mental strength to lay my eyes on another one. I wanted to decline until I saw the worried look on her face.
“Fine, but we are not waiting long,” I said with reluctant resignation.
We both made our way to the infirmary. On the way, I asked her to walk me through what exactly happened.
“She is a very good fighter,” She said.
“I know, I trained her,” I replied.
“Just how close are you with these women?” She asked in an irritated tone.
“Jealousy does not suit you, Yulia,” I told her with a playful smirk. “And my family and the Cravens have been friends and allies going back generations, long before you came into the picture,” I revealed to her.
“Well, it does not change the fact that you trained her to kick my ass,” She said with a slight frown.
“And who is unconscious on a bed in the school hospital?” I asked, feeling a smile tug at my lips.
“I got lucky,” She said.
“I do not think luck had anything to do with it, you knocked her out cold,” I said.
She turned serious. “I believed that I killed her, Issa, my hands…they just glowed to life and were hot!”
“I am guessing that explains this,” I said, showing her the glove.
She took it from me and examined it closely.
“I am still trying to understand how it happened,” She said, her voice wracked with confusion and fear.
We were already inside the infirmary.
“You bitch!” Andrea appeared, her face hard with rage.
She raised her hand to slap Yulia but I grabbed her hand before it made contact with Yulia’s face and pushed her back.
“She almost killed my sister!” Andrea yelled at me.
And I sighed in defeat. Coming here was a bad idea.
