I needed to get to Yulia immediately.
I just had to find a way to get rid of Andrea and this idiot of an assistant vice president. Mark was currently on his knees massaging Andrea’s right foot. He had the look of a defeated man and I was certain that he had learnt his lesson.
I stood up from where I sat and dropped my unfinished drink on the cabinet before I went to my desk. I put in the password to access the computer before opening the dark web where all of Mark’s money was kept.
I had kept it all in an offshore account. I transferred all his money back into his account. All sixty million dollars in total.
“Check your account,” I said curtly.
Mark hastily got up from where he knelt and frantically reached into his inner suit jacket for his phone. He heaved a sigh of relief as he saw the numbers and ran to embrace me. I flinched from his touch but I did not push him off.
“Oh, thank you, thank you, I promise from now on to be a team player, you will hear no complaint from me ever again!” He rambled on.
“Mark,” I said.
“Yes?” He answered attentively.
“Get off me,” I said coldly.
“Sorry, just got too excited,” He muttered apologetically and moved away from me.
“You can leave now, I have work to do,” I said nodding towards the door. He gave an awkward bow and ran out of the office, afraid that I would change my mind.
“He was such a pleaser and has good hands,” Andrea mused as she wiggled her perfectly pedicured toes. “You could have had him eating out of your palms, you know,” She added and her eyes lit up mischievously.
“I have to go,” I said, reaching for my suit.
“You just came in and you have not even done any work,” She said, puzzled.
“Since when did you ever care about my work?” I asked sarcastically.
“I don’t. I am just wondering why you are leaving work early,” She replied.
My phone buzzed and I picked it up. I frowned as I saw who it was. Why was Khan messaging me? I opened the message.
‘We need to talk. It concerns Yulia.’
I quickly put on my suit and headed for the door. Andrea stood in my way.
“You still have not told me what is so urgent?” She said with a playful pout.
I had no time for this. The illusion was over and she needed to get her head out of her ass.
“Andrea, I owe you no explanation, whatever you think still exists between us no longer does,” I gently moved her out of the way. “And yes, it concerns Yulia, there, I said it. Get over yourself, Andrea,” I stated harshly and left her alone in my office.
She could get the hell out if she wanted to or stay, I did not give a shit. Not anymore.
I pushed the call button on Khan’s number and waited impatiently for him to pick up as I headed for the elevator. He picked up after the second ring.
“You better not be wasting my time, Khan,” I said in a hard tone as I entered the elevator.
I saw Andrea exit my office and stomped with determination towards the elevator I was in. I groaned inwardly. Fortunately, the doors slid close before she could enter.
“This is not something we can discuss on the phone, Issa, it is really urgent that we meet face to face,” Khan said in a hushed tone and it only got me more worried.
“Fine, where?” I asked.
“The old school library,” He said.
“I will be there in five minutes, what about Yulia?” I demanded.
“With what took place, she needed some time alone,” He said vaguely.
“So, you have no idea where she is,” I said scathingly.
“Just get here,” He said and cut the call.
I reached my car and yanked the door open. Yet I was about to enter when Andrea called after me and it caused a sudden outburst from me and Iran.
“Take a fucking hint, Andrea!” I thundered as Iran scratched the surface of my mind.
Andrea flinched a little from my outburst but still looked defiantly at me. “Do not get your claws in up in a bunch, I am not following you because I want to, I am following you because I need to,” She replied.
“What does that even mean?”
“It’s Leia, I just got a call that she was knocked unconscious in a fight,” Andrea answered.
It was all beginning to make more sense now. I had felt a short burst of Iran’s rage back at the office. I saw glimpses of Yulia in a fight with another girl in a red boxing headgear.
“I am headed to the academy too, get in and do not speak to me,” I ordered and entered the car. Andrea joined me at the front seat and I hastily started the engine before recklessly speeding onto the busy streets of the city.
Questions upon questions ran through my mind as I stepped down on the accelerator. What had happened with Yulia and why had she been so angry. How had Iran been able to connect with her?
It was confusing being mated with Yulia because the surprises just kept coming. Where was she?
“She is so lucky if that look on your face is meant for her,” Andrea said as she looked out the tinted window as buildings, cars and people passed us by in a fast blur.
“What look?” I asked, despite the fact that I had told her to shut the fuck the up.
“The worried look,” She replied. “It is a new look on you, I have never seen it before.”
She was right, I was worried about Yulia and it was also the first time that I actually felt this way.
“I wish you would worry about me, Issa.”
