~YULIA
I made sure to keep my head down as I entered the first class for today.
It was a large lecture hall where the seats were arranged in an ascended order. I sat at the far upper left of the class in the back where I could blend in.
I checked my phone to see if there was anything on the academy social media platform and I was somewhat relieved to see that video of the skirmish between Pete and I had disappeared. Maybe Issa had something to do with it, I was not so sure.
The hall began to fill in with students with identical uniforms like mine. The only difference was that the boys had on trousers, while the girls had on short skirts.
A couple of giggles erupted and I knew without looking that it was Leia and her cronies. I scoffed and slid down on my seat to avoid being seen. It was not like I was afraid of her or anything, she just seemed to love chaos and I was going through enough of that.
An elderly woman with stark white hair tied in a bun and a serious expression on her face entered the class and stood on the podium. She has on a black turtleneck sweater with a long skirt that reached her ankle. She wore boots and her glaring face had thick rimmed glasses.
She had a no nonsense look about her. She cleared her throat and the class instantly went quiet. Well except for Leia and her three blonde haired friends. They were still laughing and chatting among themselves and I suspected that they were doing it on purpose.
“I expect total silence in my class, Ms. Craven, unless your father’s money did not buy you decorum, I suggest you and your friend either shut the hell up or leave if you feel this class is beneath you'” The lady said coldly.
Leia scoffed loudly but said nothing. I admired this lady all of a sudden. Whoever she was.
“My name is Professor Sylvia, and I am going to be lecturing you on the Art of Mating and bonding between Werewolves.”
“I wonder who is unlucky enough to be mated to you,” Leia said and the half of the class gasped.
“Well, thank you for asking, Ms. Craven, My Mate was unlucky enough to lose his life when your father killed him due to his incompetence in running a company,” Professor Sylvia said with a cold smirk.
This was personal and it made me wonder how long it had been going on.
An uneasy silence filled the room.
“Any more snarky comebacks?” Professor Sylvia asked with an expectant look on her face.
Leia clamped her mouth shut but her face hardened in anger. I did not think she was going to be saying anything else in this class.
“Very well, then we can get on with today’s topic,” Professor Sylvia began and went on to talk about how and why Mating process between werewolves was the way that they were..
It was very eye opening and it made me understand more of why Issa and I were Mated.
“One of the most important parts of Mating,” Professor Sylvia said. “Is Marking.”
That made me pay more attention, so I listened closely.
“Marking happens when the male werewolf uses his fang to make a mark on any area of his mate’s skin. This helps to solidify their bonds and strengthen their union. It is also a way of marking his territory and making it official that he is Mated.”
My hands involuntarily went to my right shoulder where Iran had bitten me. I could feel it throb as I ran my thumb over the tender area.
“That will be all for today, class, please read more on the advantages of Mating,” Professor Sylvia said as she began to clear up her books.
The students began to disperse from the class. Leia was the first to leave with her friends. She stomped out angrily and it made me wonder about what really happened between her father and Professor Sylvia’s deceased Mate.
“Yulia?” I turned at the sound of my name.
It was the bushy curly red haired and glass wearing Ashley.
“Hey, Ashley,” I said and gave her a polite smile.
“You are wondering what all that was all about,” She said.
“You mean between Leia and Professor Sylvia?” I asked. “It seemed so personal.”
“Yeah, it is,” Ashley replied. “Professor Sylvia’s husband was a genetic scientist, working on werewolf DNA replication but something happened at the lab he was working in and he lost his life,” Ashley reported as she zipped up her bag.
“And the lab was located at Calion Holding?” I asked.
“No, Calion Pharmaceuticals, Leia’s dad owns three factories, a couple of firms and numerous companies, the ultimate business man… or werewolf,” Ashley replied.
I nodded. Intrigued by what Ashley was saying.
“Professor Sylvia sued of course but she lost and she has had it in for Leia ever since,” Ashley finished with a shrug.
“Wow, a lot of drama in this big school,” I mused.
“You have no idea,” Ashley said with a chuckle. “Hey, have you heard anything from Pete? I have not seen him in class today.”
I shook my head and shrugged. “Nope,” I said.
The last thing I heard from Pete was his scream of agony as his own father broke his arm with a sledge hammer.
“Weird,” Ashley said. “Well, our second class will start in a few minutes, I can’t wait to see Professor Khan again.”
I had totally forgotten that we were having Khan’s Defense class today.
I left the class with Ashley and my phone buzzed. Hers also ringed. I checked it out and a message from Khan said that the class will be held in the Academy training center.
“That’s new,” Ashley mused and we both headed there to see what Jamal had in mind.
I had a feeling things were going to get physical.
