~YULIA
“Who exactly are you?”
My voice came out shakier than I had expected. My wolf began to come back to the surface after abandoning me to my fate earlier.
There was no response from either of them. They just ignored me as if I had not breathed a word. Miles was helping him clean off the blood from his hands, but the ones on his clothes were there to stay.
“You played with the weather. You summoned fogs and you moved at inhumane speed. How is that a wolf’s ability?” I dared to ask.
They refused to say a word to me. Miles brought the car to life and zoomed off. I spied on Issa from the mirror.
He looked distant. He looked as if it was only his shell that was left behind. I wanted to ask more questions but since they were both playing mute, I decided to keep it for when we would arrive at his house.
After all, they could not remain mute forever.
I folded my arms as I sank deeper into my chair. The silence was awkward and I wanted to stretch badly as well as call Lana but I did not think now was the best atmosphere for it.
I found myself going back to the moment I saw this crimson eyes in the streets. Had he been there along? Had he followed me outside?
If these men had not attacked us now, I would have believed that he was working with them since he had been there.
What if it had not been him and it was actually someone else?
I ran my fingers through my hair in confusion. What exactly was going on here? How could things get so strange in just two days?
Why did my mother have to die?
If she had been alive, I was sure that I would not have had to face any of these things. Somehow, I knew that I would be safe because she would have protected me with her life.
I almost never believed her the day she revealed that I was adopted. What then was my true identity if I was not her child?
I sighed heavily and I was just in time to see us enter a new pack. It was already night by the time we drove into the town.
It was way different from my home, large and more complicated than I was used to. Street lamps lined the path that Miles drove past and I was fascinated by the sight.
So this was where my mother had lived as a child? I could see why she left. She preferred simple things.
“It’s the Lycan King,” Someone exclaimed as he pointed fingers at the car.
I widened my eyes as I saw people beginning to bow as the car drove past them. People actually held him with respect here, unlike what I thought of him.
I was more scared of his monster side, though.
The silence continued as we pulled up into a grand mansion that looked quite ancient. It was more like a castle on second thought, with pointy ends. There were warm lights at the entrance as well as on the walls of the building itself.
The place was like an estate and I felt as if I had entered a completely different era. What was left was for me to get dressed in big gowns and have a maid following me around.
What was this place? Was I dreaming?
My wolf began to dance as I stared at the castle in awe.
Eventually, the car came to a stop and Miles got out first. He pulled the door to my side of the car open and I helped myself out.
When Issa saw that I was out of the car, he instantly got out. I was about to speak when he stormed into the house as if none of us existed.
“What the fuck is wrong with that man?” I snapped.
Miles corked his brows at me. “You need to be careful when he’s in this mood. He can lose his temper and do things he regrets,” he warned me.
I frowned at him. “What are you talking about?” I demanded.
Miles sighed. “What you saw back there was the power of a Lycan. He can do worse, depending on how angry and detached to his emotions he is,” he revealed. “The red eyed man we saw back there, was his wolf- Iran.”
I parted my lips at him.
“Iran is a monster. He has no emotions and he’s the most dangerous.”
I furrowed my brows at him. “You’re saying it as if they’re two different people. One’s wolf is an extension of oneself, just like the rest of us. We are the ones who have control over our wolves and we can command them to do as we please,” I stated as I scoffed at him.
Was he trying to trick me? Everyone knew about wolves.
“That is true for a normal werewolf. He’s not just any wolf. He’s a Lycan and his wolf has great power. A Lycan’s natural instinct as a wolf is dominance, power, cruelty and monstrosity. Their wolves were made to be monsters. Why else do you think that Lycans killed lots of normal werewolves in the past?”
I gapped at him. “So Iran and Issa are two different people?” I asked in shock. It felt surreal but I had felt it back at the car. I remembered the madness in his eyes.
“It took Issa a long time to learn control over his powerful wolf and he always hates it when he has to summon Iran because he knows that Iran always leaves a trail of blood behind.”
I suddenly felt a heavy breath escape from within me. “He feels guilty,” I whispered.
Miles nodded. “So, just try to stay out of his face until tomorrow morning. I’ll get the maids to take your things in and show you around. You may go in and wait for one of them to attend to you,” he announced.
I nodded and went up to the grand entrance of the castle. The guards at the door pushed it open for me and I walked in.
I was suddenly hit with the strong scent of the forest. It filled up my core and drove me insane. I just knew that I had to find its origin or I would go mad.
I walked away from the main living room and went up the stone stairs that I found. The scent led me down a large corridor until I came to a stop before a slightly opened door at the very end of the corridor.
My heart began to pound as I stood there and I tried to change my mind when the scent forced me to keep going. This time, my wolf started dancing with excitement.
I entered the room and saw the tall outline of Issa in the dark. The scent was coming from him and I was suddenly hit with an overwhelming feeling.
“Mate. . .” I whispered and was shocked by my own words.
He jerked his head up instantly and slowly turned to face me. When I registered the color in his eyes, I yelped.
They were glowing a fierce crimson color. . .
