ZARA’S POINT OF VIEW
” can a get an espresso with one glazed doughnut, please .” I said to the attendant at the coffee shop, I waited for her as I replied to a message on my phone. I am so far behind in my school work, I have to work really hard to catch up, I have a test due the day after tomorrow and assignment due in a few hours.
I took my order from the lady.
“Thank you.” I said and then made my way to an empty table, opened up my laptop on the table and went to work writing a report on ‘the effect of global warming on different systems on the body’. I was still searching through the internet for a suitable research paper when I heard some noise from outside. I frowned, great now I would for sure never finish this report. I slid in my headphones and continued working with Beyonce’s lemonade album in my ear.
I was really into the report writing, was full immersed in the flow of the writing as well as rhythm of the music when someone shut my laptop close, I frown and looked up expecting to see one of my friends, I thought maybe it’s a dumb game a friend of mine is trying to play but when I looked up I saw Maddie. And Delvin by her side.
“Maddie let’s go.” Delvin said, trying his best not to look at me, that made me angry, the fact that he can’t even look at me, that he was such a coward! I got captured by his father because of the love that I thought we both share, apparently not, apparently he never loved me because he is right here with Maddie.
“Don’t you dare chase after my man again, you hear me bitch.” Maddie said, she picked up my cup of coffee from the table and poured it on my laptop.
This spoilt brat! I saw red, any little grain of reasoning and common sense left my body! I lurched for her and slapped her across the face, she tried to hit me back but I moved away just in time to avoid the slap, we started pulling each other’s hair and fighting until Delvin moved in between us.
“Enough.” He said, he looked at me with disappointment, he looks like a disappointed older brother or something.
“Zara we are over! Get that through your thick skull! I don’t want you anymore, I am getting married to Maddison over here so stop chasing me, stop coming to places that you know I will be!” Delvin yelled at me. What is he talking about? Why is he speaking to me in this way? Why is he taking Maddie’s side.
To think that I was captured because of him, to think that I was ready to put my freaking life on the line for the love I thought we both felt for each other, how did I ever think that he loved me? It shows now that he doesn’t, he never did, he was probably just playing me and you know what he won because this hurts.
The fact that he is taking her side hurts so much, the fact that he said they would be getting married breaks my heart.
Maddie has her hands around Delvin’s neck, Delvin has his hands around her waist. They start kissing right in front of me.
I did not mean to but I started sobbing, in embarrassment I ran out the cafe with my damaged laptop in my hand and my heart completely shattered.
DELVIN’S POINT OF VIEW
“Get the fuck off of me.” I said to Maddie in a low menacing voice that I could hardly recognize as my own. She looks confused, she shouldn’t be, she should know the truth.
“I don’t understand.” Maddie said confused.
“I don’t love you Maddie and I never will, I am only getting married to you just so I can protect the one I love.” I said. My father has proven to me that he is not playing around, he fucking kidnapped Zara at the mask party! To set her free from his impending evil clutches I have to marry Maddie, a girl I feel absolutely nothing for.
I know how stubborn Zara can be, I know that I have to push her away, I had to push her away the way I just did just so she would hate me and stay away from me because if she stays away from me, my father will stay away from her and even if we wouldn’t be together at least she would be alive.
The image of her crying as she left the cafe stayed glued to my brain, it took everything… everything in me for me not to run after her.
I feel like my whole world is crumbling, I feel angry, I direct this anger at the spoilt brat Maddie, she is the reason I cannot be with Zara anyway.
I walk into my car, slam the door and drive off leaving her standing there in the cafe stranded. I drive off to my house not even bothering to call and check up on her.
She can go to hell for all I care…
MADDIE’S POINT OF VIEW
Delvin was never like this, he used to love me, we used to be best friends, I knew we would be married. Ever since I was younger, I had dreamt of the day he would be my husband and I would be his wife.
He was fine with the idea of us being married, he was fine with the idea of our families merging up our empires, he was fine with him taking over that empire, he was fine with me being his queen but all that changed with that desperate little wench Zara came into the picture, I have to see to it that she leaves her lives as suddenly as she came in.
In the back seat of my black Porsche with my driver driving me home, I picked my phone out from my purse.
“Hello Stephen. I need you to help me do something.” I said.
“There is this little witch Zara who has been bothering me. I need you to help me end her life.” I said.
“Okay Maddie but what do I get in return.” Stephen said. I smiled, he is such a tease.
“How about me naked and willing in your bed.” I replied with a smile.
“Done… consider her dead already.” Stephen said. I giggled in satisfaction…
