Chapter 43
SHANE
“He doesn’t have hair on his ass.” I reply, then cover my mouth with my hand, realizing what I just said. I’ve practically just outed myself to the entire staff that I’m sleeping with Liam. Gigit laughs out loud while I blush.
“Enough, Gigit.” Liam growls.
“I’m sorry, it’s just so cute to see someone other than me defending you. But publicly showing that he’s your guy makes it even better.” She says as we continue walking toward the exit of the building and directly to the elevators.
“If you keep embarrassing her, we’re going to have problems.” Liam reprimands her.
“I’m sorry if you feel embarrassed, sweetheart. That wasn’t my intention.” Gigit’s apology seems sincere.
“It’s fine. I was the one who made it obvious.”
When we reach the elevator, silence falls, and we don’t speak again until we leave the company. We walk to Liam’s car and get into the back seat while Gigit takes the wheel and drives.
“Why so nervous?” Gigit asks while driving. “I can smell it from here.”
“What?” I try to make eye contact with him through the rearview mirror, but he doesn’t allow it. Instead, I look at Liam beside me, but he also doesn’t make eye contact with me. “What do you mean?” I ask when I know I’m not going to get any kind of response from him.
“It’s just a way of saying that I can see you’re nervous.” He replies, looking at me with those beautiful blue eyes that I love. “Come here.” He pulls me towards him, and so easily, I’m on his lap, sitting sideways on his legs. I love feeling so comfortable and comforted in his arms that I wrap my arms around his waist. I rest my head on his shoulder and place a soft kiss on his neck. I can feel him shudder beneath me.
“You smell good,” I keep kissing him when I realize I’m running my tongue along his neck, the hormones in my body awaken, and the desire to have him grows. “You taste good.”
“Wolf pup, control yourself. We’re not alone.” His words come out muffled. I look at him to find his jaw clenched.
“Liam, I can’t help it…” I whisper as my lips graze his skin, making his breathing quicken slightly. His voice echoes in my mind, and the moment he calls me “wolf pup,” I feel an internal fire growing, making me bolder.
I can feel Gigit watching from the rearview mirror, but I don’t find it disruptive, more like a provocation that awakens my senses. Liam’s proximity is overwhelming, his body so warm and strong beneath mine.
“Shane…” he warns me, but his firmness can’t hide the tremendous attraction radiating between us. “We shouldn’t…”
“I don’t care, just a little more…” I plead, letting my lips drop closer to his neck, my teeth barely touching his skin, and his body responds instantly.
He bites his lip, hovering between desire and self-control.
“I warn you… I have no problem taking you to my parents’ house with your hormones all riled up.” His voice is a soft thunder, a mix of dominant flavoring the situation.
“And what about that?” I dare to say, feeling his hands grip me slightly at my waist, increasing the tension between us. “I’m here with you, and I don’t want that to change…”
His eyes meet mine in a moment of mutual understanding. For a moment, the rest of the world fades away, and all that exists are the two of us and this indescribable desire that burns and crackles between our bodies.
“Tonight, when we’re alone…” he whispers, and I can feel an electric current coursing through my skin at the thought of what might happen. “It’s going to be hard for me to control myself.”
Gigit laughs from the front seat and breaks the spell between us, but she doesn’t extinguish the fire I’ve ignited. My cheeks are burning, and I don’t know if it’s from the heat of my feelings for him or the desire that wraps around me more and more.
“I promise it will be fun…” but my words sound more like an invitation to cross all boundaries. I don’t know what’s happening to me; this isn’t me. But just smelling Liam and I’m already feeling hot for him.
“I don’t doubt that, wolf pup. First, we’ll see my parents.” He responds with a bold but undeniably seductive smile. Undoubtedly, I’m not sure if we can resist what we’ve ignited between us.
“Liam…” I whisper, drawing his attention back to me. I need his closeness, the way he makes me feel; it’s as if he has the power to erase every insecurity and fear within me.
And as I lean closer to him, feeling his breath, the universe reduces itself to an anxious silence where only our heartbeats and the clear impulse of the inevitable exist. The palpable tension in the air between us becomes almost unbearable.
As Gigit turns toward Liam’s parents’ house, I cling to the idea that soon we’ll be in a more private place where we can let this desire consume us completely.
Anticipation fills me with energy while leaving me impatient. I can’t wait for our bodies to meet, and I know that by the end of this journey, we’ll both give in to the connection we desire, surrendering without reservations to the fire we’ve already begun to stoke.
Finally, we arrive at Liam’s parents’ house. Mrs. Rosa, Liam’s mother, appears at the door with a huge smile on her face. Gigit is the first to get out of the car and greet Rosa; Liam and I follow, and although I’m nervous, the warmth radiating from Rosa helps me relax a bit.
“Liam, sweetheart, it’s so good to see you!” Rosa exclaims, opening her arms to welcome him. He hugs her tightly, then steps back to introduce me.
“Mom, this is Shane…”
“Silly, of course, I know it’s Miss Shanelle. Do you think your old mother has lost her memory?” she says with a smile, opening her arms for me to hug her too, and that’s what I do, feeling familiar with her.
