“It’s her! It’s her! It’s Nadia.” Kender squealed happily.
The Blackwells and everyone in the room who knew her stared in shock. While those who were seeing her for the first time admired how elegant and expensive she looked.
“Oh my God.” Mrs. McCall muttered as her heart started to race. Same as her daughter’s.
“Wow.” Kendra gasped.
“Come on.” Kender said and pulled his sister towards her. The Blackwells were too shocked to stop them.
They were about to get to her when the guards standing next to her stopped them.
“It’s fine. Let them.” Nadia said and the guards stepped out of the way, they moved to her and smiled at her.
“Hi, it’s me. It’s Kender, do you remember me? You came to my school… ”
“Of course Kender. I remember you.” She cut him off with a smile.
“This must be your twin sister.” She said as she looked at Kender.
“Yes. My name is Kendra. My brother told me about you, nice to meet you.” Kendra said with a wide smile.
“Well, I hope he said positive things about me.”
“Yes. He said you are so pretty and it’s true.”
“Yeah, I know I am pretty.” She replied and they giggled.
“Can everyone else see this?” Max asked as they stared at Nadia.
“She didn’t die?” Nora muttered.
Axel just kept staring, he couldn’t say anything. He wasn’t thinking straight, a lot kept popping into his head. He had mixed emotions.
“Come meet our family. They would love to meet a new person in the society.” Kendra said and held her hand, before she could respond, they both pulled her towards the Blackwells.
“She’s coming.” Nora muttered as she felt her heart race. Mr. Blackwell also watched.
The guests were starting to pay less attention as the activities of the ball kept going.
They got to the Blackwells and Nadia stared at them.
“Hey guys, meet Nadia. Nadia, meet our dad, his name is Axel. Our aunt, Nora, our uncle, Max, and finally our grandpa and his wife.” Kender said and Nadia nodded.
“Well, it’s nice to meet them.” She replied. The kids noticed they were just staring.
“Is something wrong?” Kendra asked them.
“I guess they are just so surprised to see how pretty I am.” Nadia replied and smiled at them.
“Well, I have people to meet. I will see you guys later.” Nadia said and they nodded happily at her before she walked away.
“Why are you guys just staring?” Kender asked and Mr. Blackwell walked away.
“Nothing.” Nora replied with a smile.
Axel suddenly gasped as he felt it hard to breathe, his hands started to tremble and he hurriedly walked away from the crowd.
“Daddy.” Kendra called worriedly and was about to rush after him with her brother but Nora stopped them.
“It’s okay. He is fine.” Nora said as Max rushed after him.
“Are you sure?” Kender asked and she nodded.
“Come on, let’s go take some pictures.” She said and pulled them with her.
Max caught up with Axel in the hallway, he leaned on the wall as he gasped.
“Hey, are you okay?” Max asked.
“You have to breathe man. It’s okay.” He added but Axel ignored him. A lot kept going on in his head.
After a minute, he was able to calm himself and he looked at Max.
“It’s Lily. She is alive.” He said and Max nodded.
“And your kids met their mother already.” Max replied and Axel shook his head.
“Well, we are leaving.” Axel replied and walked back towards the party.
They got there and he looked around for the kids, there were couples on the dance floor.
He was about to start searching for his kids when Dexter suddenly showed up in front of me.
“What a surprise. Your wife is alive.” Dexter mocked and Axel glared at him.
“Get the fuck out of my way, I don’t have time for this.” Axel replied.
“Hmm, I wonder how El Diablo would react to this news.” He chuckled and walked away.
Axel decided not to bother about that yet, he just had to find his kids and leave.
“What are two gentlemen doing here? Why aren’t you on the dance floor?” An old lady said to them and Axel was about to walk past her but she pulled him with her to the dance floor.
Her husband also pulled Max to the dance floor too.
Axel was about to pull away from her when he noticed his kids dancing too. Almost everyone was on the dance floor. Including Nadia.
The McCalls too were there.
Luckily, the dance involved switching partners.
Axel danced with the old woman and waited impatiently for the time they would switch partners. It was finally time for it and he switched partners. He ended up with Emily, Dexter’s sister.
“Blackwell.” She called with a smile but Axel ignored her. Just his kids were on his mind.
Emily felt embarrassed but she managed to cover it up with a smile, she has always had a crush on him but he never noticed her.
It was time to switch partners again and Axel tried to get to one of his kids but he couldn’t. He ended up with his father.
His kids were dancing with other kids.
“Tell me you have this under control.” His father said.
“I am fucking working on it.” He replied. He looked at Nadia and noticed she was dancing with Dexter.
Out of the blue, he suddenly got mad and wanted to end up with her. They switched partners again and this time, he ended up with Nora.
“She is acting like she doesn’t know us.” Nora said but Axel didn’t respond. He kept staring at her.
“Do you think she is up to something?” Nora asked and Axel didn’t respond again.
“Should we talk to her? Should we wait till after the ball? What are you going to do about this?”
“Axel, answer me.” Nora snapped.
“I am fucking working on it.” He replied and they switched partners again and finally, he ended up with her.
He felt his heart race as she wrapped her arms around his neck and he held her waist.
“Lily.” Axel muttered and she raised her brow.
“It’s Nadia now.” She replied with a calm expression. She was so relaxed and enjoyed the situation.
“You are alive.” He said surprised.
“I know right? It must be shocking.” She replied.
It was time for them to switch partners but Axel didn’t let go of her.
“I am not done talking to you.”
“I am done.” She replied sternly and pulled away from him, she ended up with her mother and she froze in fear.
“It’s okay Mrs. McCall. Don’t be scared, I am not a ghost.” She said as she danced with her.
Mrs. McCall kept trembling and Nadia smiled at her.
“I heard your husband’s business isn’t moving really well. How do you feel about becoming a millionaire again?” She asked but Mrs. McCall was too shocked to speak.
“Can’t speak Tania?” She asked. Mrs. McCall let go of her in fear and walked off the dance floor.
Before she could blink, Axel showed up in front of her again and she rolled her eyes.
“We need to talk, Lily. What… ”
“It’s Nadia.” She cut him off and he exhaled.
“Okay, Nadia. What happened? What is going on?”
“Oh, you don’t know what is going on? It’s been over a decade, Axel and I am back to ruin you like I promised.”
