“You really are naive, Lily.” Axel said to her and she stared at him confused. What the hell was he talking about?
“Huh?”
“You should get some rest.” Axel said and walked up the stairs before she could give a response. Lily scoffed and lay back on the chair.
‘What the hell is going on?’

It was morning again and just like Axel had said, someone got Lily and her kids things they needed before they woke up. She got her kids ready for the day and made sure they were comfortable.
When she woke up, Axel wasn’t around but he told a guard to inform her that he would be back soon.
It was just her and her kids in the house.
She was in the living room with her kids, she was lost in thought. She kept thinking about how her life would be one that she was back in New York, how she would stand before her mother and her step sister.
What would the people in the city think of her? And what happened the night of the last ball of that season?
She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a knock on the door, she flinched a little and glanced at her kids before looking at the door.
It was weird, it was weird to knock if it was Axel. She wondered who it might be, she was sure no one knew she was in New York yet.
But it couldn’t be a random person, the guards were outside. They wouldn’t let anyone dangerous in.
She heard the knock again and she slowly stood up, she walked to the door and with a shaky hand, she opened it.
She drew her brows together as she stared at the person in her presence. She wasn’t expecting the person at all.
“Hi… hey.” She stuttered nervously but Lily didn’t say anything.
“Can I come in?” She asked. Before she could say anything else, Lily slammed the door and locked it behind her.
Her kids flinched and Kendra started to cry.
“Hey, I’m sorry.” Lily muttered and picked her up, she stopped crying seconds later and Lily felt tiny hands on her leg. She looked down to see Kender and sighed.
“He really had to make twins.” She scoffed and rolled her eyes. She recalled her first pregnancy and thought about it, what if they were twins too?
She heard a knock on the door again but this time it was louder.
“Lily, it’s me.” She heard Axel’s voice and she sighed. She walked to the door and opened it, Axel walked in and as she was about to close the door, Nora rushed in.
Lily didn’t say anything, nor did she react. She walked to the couch and took a seat. Nora stared at her nervously, she was too scared and ashamed to speak.
Lily looked at Axel and noticed he was holding a bag.
“The Blackwell’s family dinner is tonight. We will be going together.”
“I am not a Blackwell.” Lily replied and looked at Kender as he stared at them with his hand in his mouth.
“You are attending the dinner, Lily. With the kids.” Axel said sternly and dropped the bag on the couch, Lily didn’t give a response.
Instead, she stood up, carried Kender too, and headed up the stairs.
“I think she hates me.” Nora sighed and creased her forehead.
“Do you blame her?” Axel asked and turned to her, Nora glared at him.
“This is your fault. This wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t fight with her that night.” Nora said and Axel scoffed.
“So? We all played dumb like we didn’t know she was innocent. You could have done something back but you didn’t, you also cared about the dumb family’s name.”
“What was I supposed to do? We could have lost everything.” She replied. Axel rolled his eyes and ignored her.
“Hey, did you later find out what happened to her that night?” Nora asked but Axel didn’t respond to her question. Instead, he changed the topic.
“You should leave. I don’t think she wants you here. If you want to see her, you will during dinner.”
“Yeah, I better prepare a long nice apology speech.” Nora sighed before walking out of the house.

Lily stared at her dress in the mirror and sighed again, a thousand thoughts were going on in her head. She wasn’t ready, she didn’t want any of this.
She doesn’t want to be a Blackwell, she does not want constant family drama. She wants to be far away from them, she just wants to be happy with her kids.
Being with the Blackwells means she can’t have her own life, she can’t make a decision on her own. She doesn’t want to attend the family dinner but she has no choice but to.
She closed her eyes and breathed out heavily, she let her hair down and looked at herself in the mirror again.
Lily heard giggles and turned to the bed to see her kids, they had fancy dresses on. Kendra was in a pretty gown while Kender was in a cute little tuxedo.
He didn’t seem comfortable though, he kept trying to take the jacket off which made Lily smile.
“I hate fancy things too.” She said and walked to the bed. Kendra seemed to like her dress, she kept smiling and playing with it.
The door to the room opened and Axel walked in. He was dressed in a tuxedo and looked elegant as always.
“Are you ready?” He asked and Lily nodded in response.
He walked to the bed and carried Kender while Lily carried Kendra.
“Hey.” Axel called and Lily looked up at him.
“It is going to be a little rough tonight, are you ready?” He asked.
“Do I really have to go? Can’t I just forever don’t exist to them?”
“You can’t. You deserve better.” Axel replied and she sighed.
He sighed too and moved closer to her.
“I am still married to Malia and your mum has so much power now but don’t worry. I will be there so nothing can happen to you.”
“And Susan?” Lily asked.
“Ignore her.”
“We should leave now. We are late already.” He added and she nodded.
He walked ahead of her and they both walked out of the house. They got into the car and the chauffeur drove out of the mansion.
After a while, they arrived at the Blackwell’s estate and Lily’s heart raced as her hands trembled.
The chauffeur drove into the mansion and tears welled up in her eyes.
Why the hell was she freaking out?
