The phone fell from Lily as her hand trembled. She couldn’t believe what she just saw. She wished was dreaming and it wasn’t real! It had to be a dream, it had to be a fucking nightmare!
“Oh my God.” Nora gasped and looked up at Lily.
Axel looked up at Lily and she stared at him. A lot of emotions were building up in her and she was confused about how she felt. Although she was sure of one, fear!
“Where are you coming from?” He asked and her lips quivered as she couldn’t say anything.
“I asked you a question, Lily. Where are you coming from?” He asked again.
He had a cold expression, she could tell he was mad.
“I… I don’t know.” She whispered in response and a tear rolled down her eyes.
“This is bad. This is really bad.” Max said as he read the news under the post.
“The rumour about Mrs. Lily Blackwell was true after all. She is a slut who has one night stand with strangers. We received information that that was how she met Mr. Axel Blackwell. Here are photos of Mrs. Blackwell with a stranger last night.” Nora read out loud.
The pictures weren’t ordinary pictures, they were naked photos of Lily and the man she woke up next to.
She wasn’t asleep in the picture, she was awake. With a smile on her face. There were different pictures, somewhere she was kissing the man, and the others were just part of her boobs and her face.
“I… I swear to God, I don’t know anything about those pictures, I… ”
“They look real. They are real.” Max cut Lily off and she gasped as she felt her heart clutch in her chest.
With tears in her eyes, she looked at Axel.
“You have to believe me, I can’t do something like this, I… ”
“Where were you last night?” Nora cut her off too and she turned to her as the tears rolled down her cheeks.
“I don’t know. I can’t remember, I can’t remember anything.” Lily cried and turned to Axel again.
“Axel, you have to believe me.” She pleaded and Axel ignored her and turned to Max.
“Get the news off the internet. Be fast about it.” He told Max and he nodded and walked away to start making calls.
“What do you mean by you can’t remember anything?” Nora asked.
“I don’t know. I really can’t remember anything. The last thing I remember was… ” Lily trailed off as she realised that she couldn’t remember anything that happened the previous day. Not even in the morning.
It was like the last twenty four hours of her life never existed.
“Wh… what happened yesterday?” Lily asked Nora and she scoffed.
“To justify your actions, you are playing dumb.” Nora said and Lily gasped. How can she not trust her?
“Fuck! Our name will be ruined!” Nora yelled and threw the pillow on the couch angrily.
Lily was surprised that it was coming from her, she couldn’t believe it. Nora cared only about their family’s name.
Lily looked away from her and turned to Axel who was going through his phone.
“Axel.” Lily called faintly and he turned to her.
“Go take a bath and clean yourself up. You look dirty.” He said and walked out of the living room.
Lily felt her heart shatter and her chest hurt.
Did Axel just call her dirty? She looked at Nora again and Nora rolled her eyes at her.
“Fuck!” She cursed angrily and started going through her phone.
Lily slowly dragged her feet towards the stairs. She climbed it and eventually got into her room.
She got into her room and fell to the floor then she started to cry.
This was the worst humiliation anyone could go through.
It hurts so much more because she had no idea what happened. How come she doesn’t have the memory of what happened twenty four hours ago?
And how come no one believes her? Not even Nora!
The fear of Axel hurting her because she ruined his name was so much in her. She knew how much he valued his reputation and didn’t joke with it.
She knows his business and his name comes first before her. After all, the only reason he married her was because he wanted more respect and to help his business.
She could tell he was so mad at her, but he of all people should understand this might not be real.
She can’t do something like this, she would never cheat on Axel.
At the same time, Lily started to doubt herself. Max was right, the pictures do look real! Did she really have a one night stand with a stranger?
She looked happy in those pictures, she didn’t look like she was forced or drugged. If she really wasn’t drugged, why can’t she remember?
It all feels like a dream to her. Each time she tries to remember, her head hurts and it all remains blank.
She exhaled heavily as she remembered how Axel called her dirty.
She cried and hurriedly stood up, took off her dress and rushed into the bathroom.
She got under the shower and started to scrub her body, she cried as she did.
She scrubbed her chest down to her stomach and suddenly froze when she recalled she was pregnant.
She cried harder and slowly bent, she wrapped her arms around herself and cried like she had never done before.
After the long bath, Lily stayed in her room all day. She was too ashamed to go out.
Everyone in the city saw that post, she was humiliated.
She couldn’t sleep, neither was she hungry. She couldn’t cry anymore too, she had already cried too much and the tears weren’t coming anymore.
She sighed for the umpteenth time as she pulled the covers close to her chest.
She suddenly heard noises and she slowly stood up from the bed, she walked to the window and her eyes widened in shock when she saw different cars parked and a lot of reporters outside.
She rushed out of her room and walked down the stairs, she got to the living room and froze when she saw Axel’s stepmother, Nora, and Max.
Before Lily could speak, Susan rushed to her and slapped her hard.
Lily’s eyes widened as she held her cheek in shock. She wasn’t expecting that.
“You fucking slut!” She cursed and as Lily raised her head, she slapped her again.
Max and Nora were watching, they didn’t do anything.
“You have brought shame to this family!” She screamed at Lily and she bowed her head. She cried due to how her cheek hurt.
“I’m sorry.” She whispered and Susan scoffed.
“You are sorry? You think sorry can fix this?” She yelled and Lily looked up at her. She was about to hit her again but Nora spoke up.
“I get that everyone is mad at her but I don’t think Axel would appreciate it if you hit his wife.” Nora said and Susan glared at Lily before walking to the couch.
She took a seat and kissed her teeth.
Lily sniffed and wiped her tears, she looked at Nora but she looked away from her immediately.
Lily sighed and ran her hands through her hair as she tried so hard to remember.
