“The way you say it makes it sound bad.” Axel said as he pulled away from the hug.
“Is it?” Lily asked with a fake smile. She couldn’t hide the fact that she was sad. She loved the man in her presence so much and she was willing to do anything for him but he had never told her he loved her back.
Instead, he thinks having a child isn’t the best for them.
Axel noticed she wasn’t in a good mood, she looked sad and he didn’t have much time to cheer her up, he was running late.
“We will talk when I get back.” He said and she nodded her head, he leaned closer to her, kissed her cheek then walked out of the house.
Lily breathed out heavily and walked to the dining room to have breakfast.
Hours later, she got ready and Nora arrived.
They both headed out, they took one of Axel’s cars instead for the driving test.
Nora noticed Lily wasn’t as excited like she was supposed to be, she wondered what was wrong.
She asked her multiple times if she was fine and she said she was but Nora was sure she wasn’t.
They got to a yard where Lily could drive around freely and they swapped seats.
“Okay, Lily, are you ready?” Nora asked and she nodded with a little smile. She already explained the basics to her and she understood them.
“Please don’t get us killed.” Nora said and she chuckled. She was starting to be happy again.
“Did Axel upset you earlier?” Nora suddenly asked and Lily glanced at her before nodding.
“What did he do this time? I thought you both were all over each other at the party.” Nora said and she sighed. She decided to tell Nora about it, after all, Nora was her best friend and she told her everything.
“Last night, I puked and Axel thought I was pregnant but I told him I wasn’t. He was so bothered about it, he called Dr. Gerad over and made him run some tests. Turns out I wasn’t pregnant and I guess he felt bad because he overreacted, he doesn’t want me to have a child.” Lily explained and sighed.
“Ugh, what is wrong with having a child? Axel can be so annoying sometimes.” Nora said and Lily shrugged.
“One more thing though.” She said and Nora raised her brows.
“What is it?” Nora asked and she bit her lip. She wasn’t sure if she should say it or not. It had been something she had been thinking about since last night.
“What is it, Lily?” Nora asked again, noticing she had been silent for too long.
“I think Dr. Gerad lied.” She said and Nora’s eyes widened.
“What? Really?” She asked and Lily nodded in response.
“You think you are pregnant?”
“I am not sure but I have a feeling that I am.” She replied and Nora giggled.
“Let’s head back to my place. I have a pregnancy test kit.” Nora said excitedly.
“What? What about the driving lessons?”
“We have a week to learn, you will catch up.” Nora said and got out of the passenger seat. Lily sighed and got out too then they both switched seats.
“What if I am wrong?” Lily asked as Nora drove.
“Doesn’t matter. At least we cleared our doubts.” Nora replied and Lily sighed.
Her hands were trembling and her heart was racing. She started to question herself if she really wanted to find out.
What if she was really pregnant? Is she really ready to be a mother? Can she be a mother? Can she take care of a child?
