Lily breathed out heavily as she sat on Axel’s bed, she looked down at her fingers and played with them.
It’s been minutes since Axel had called Dr. Gerad, they were both waiting for him. Axel hasn’t said a word since then, Lily couldn’t tell if he was mad or not.
He was seated on the couch and was focused on his phone. As Lily played with her fingers, she kept glancing at him.
He was being that way because he believed she was pregnant, a while ago he was all over her.
His phone suddenly rang and he picked it up immediately.
“Yes, you can send him up.” He said and ended the call, Lily sighed as her hands started to tremble. Dr. Gerad was around already.
What if truly she was pregnant? Will she go through another abortion again? Another torture? Or will she get to keep it this time?
Lily’s heart skipped a beat as she heard a knock on Axel’s door, Axel stood up and walked to the door.
He opened it and Dr. Gerad walked in with a smile.
“Mr. Blackwell, you called.” He said and glanced at Lily who had a nervous expression on.
“Yes, I believe my wife needs a check up.” Axel replied and put his hands in his pants pocket. Dr. Gerad knew what he meant and he nodded before turning to Lily.
“Good evening Mrs. Blackwell.” He greeted her as he walked towards her.
“Evening.” Lily muttered in response and gulped.
“Shall we begin?” He asked and she nodded nervously.

MINUTES LATER
Lily sat up on the bed as she stared at Dr. Gerad, her heart kept racing as different thoughts ran through her head. Axel was standing and was staring at them.
Dr. Gerad seemed done with whatever he was doing, he looked up at Lily and she held his gaze. He could see how scared she was.
“Are you done?” Axel asked.
“Yes sir.” He replied without looking away from Lily. He held her gaze for a few more seconds before turning to Axel.
“She is not pregnant.” He said and Lily breathed out in relief, Axel did too. She looked at him and she could see how relieved he was. He really doesn’t want to have a child.
“I guess she is just stressed. The puke might have been due to what she ate, but it’s nothing. She is okay and not pregnant.” Dr. Gerad said and stood up.
Axel stared at him and watched him closely, he smiled at Axel and was about to walk away but Axel stopped him by holding his arm.
“What else sir?” He asked nervously with a chuckle and Axel turned to him properly.
“Are you lying to me?” He asked and Dr. Gerad smiled and tried to stay calm. No doubt he was intimidated by Axel, everyone is.
“What do you mean Mr. Blackwell?” He asked and Axel glanced at Lily. She was staring at them worriedly. Axel moved closer to the doctor.
“If she is pregnant, tell me. Don’t lie to me Gerad, you know what happens when someone lies to me.” Axel whispered and Dr. Gerad pulled away a little and smiled.
“She is not pregnant, you know I can’t lie to you. Like I said earlier, she is just stressed.” Dr. Gerad said and he nodded.
“Bye then. Bye, Mrs. Blackwell.” He said and smiled at Lily before walking out.
Lily hurriedly got off the bed and rushed towards the door.
“Lily.” Axel called and she stopped as she got to the door. She gulped and blinked rapidly to fight her tears before turning to him.
She stared at him and waited for him to speak. The way he changes his mood never ceases to amaze her, he could be all caring and nice this second and the next he could have a plain expression.
He would be difficult to read, he would be mean and scary.
“You know I care about you right? And I always want the best for you.” He said and she nodded in response.
“Being pregnant and having a child isn’t a bad thing. I am not just ready yet.” He added and Lily nodded in response again.
“You can’t also take care of a child now, you can barely look out for yourself. It would be best if you stay on the pill.” He added and she nodded again.
“I would appreciate it if you could use your words.” He said and Lily gulped.
“Okay.” She muttered and turned to leave but he stopped her again.
“One more thing.” He spoke up and she turned to him.
“Yes?”
“You will start taking driving lessons tomorrow.” He said and she nodded but hurriedly spoke up.
“Okay, is that all?” She asked. He didn’t give her a response immediately, instead, he stared at her. She couldn’t read him, she couldn’t guess what he was thinking. She couldn’t tell if he was mad or not, happy or sad. If he was in a good mood or not.
“Good night Lilyana.” He finally spoke up.
“Night, Axel.” She replied and walked out of the room.
Axel breathed out and ran his hand through his hair, he slowly took off his jacket and loosened the first three buttons on his shirt.
He sat on his bed and exhaled again, he couldn’t help but start to think if what he did was wrong or right.
Having a child right now would be so wrong, not when he is in a mess.
He decided not to think about it, it was the last thing he wanted to be thinking about at that moment, he never for once saw himself being in a marriage not to talk of being a father.
He lay on his bed and sighed, he couldn’t wait for the day to end already.

THE NEXT DAY
MORNING
Axel was dressed in a tuxedo and was ready to leave for work but he wasn’t leaving yet. He was waiting to see Lily before he left.
He had been waiting for over an hour for her, he just wanted to know if she was mad at him or not.
He didn’t mean to upset her, he was just being careful and doing the right thing.
He was about to go up to her room when she walked into the living room, he looked up at her and she stared at him too.
He stood up from the couch he was sitting on and walked to her.
He ran his eyes on her clothes as he got closer to her.
“Good morning.” She muttered and he leaned closer to her, he planted a kiss on her forehead.
“Morning.” He replied.
“Be ready before twelve, Nora will be the one teaching you how to drive.” He said and Lily nodded in response.
She was being cold and dull which bothered him.
“Are we cool?” He asked and she nodded with a smile. She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him, he felt relieved and he hugged her back too.
“I want the best for us Lily.” He muttered as he held her.
“I know, having a child isn’t the best for us.”
