“I didn’t cheat on her, I didn’t sleep with Lydia.” Axel said.
“Really? How did your shirt end up with her and why did you admit it?”
“That day, when I went to drop the file with her, she intentionally spilled something on me. I had to take off the shirt and give it to her to clean it up. I guess she wore it then and took the picture.” Axel explained.
“So why didn’t you tell Lily about it?” Max asked and he shrugged.
“I don’t know, I just felt like admitting it just to avoid talking to Lily about it.”
“Well, now you have to talk to her about it.” Max said and he sighed.
“I know.”
“Oh, I hope you know we might be broke in a month if we keep going on vacations after this car you just bought.” Max said and Axel nodded.
“Yeah, I know. The crime rate in New York is about to go up.” Axel said and Max chuckled.
It was night again, no one came down for dinner, and everyone still wanted to be alone.
Malia was alone in her room, she was frustrated and desperately thinking of how to get Lily out of the way.
Taylor and Lydia were in their room talking about the issue.
Lily and Nora were together in Nora’s room.
They both kept on chatting about random things and laughed as they did.
It came to an end when they suddenly heard a knock on the door. Lily stood up and walked to it, she opened the door and saw Max standing.
“Hey.” He called and Lily smiled at him, she moved out of the way and he got in. Nora rolled her eyes as she saw him, Lily chuckled and walked out of the room.
She sighed and walked to her room, she walked into the room and met Axel there. He was on a phone call. Lily ignored him and walked towards the bed. She was about to get to it when he stood in her presence and blocked her path.
She looked up at him and he stared down at her as he answered the call. Lily tried to move away but he blocked her path again. She tried to push him out of the way but it was in vain, she ended up being exhausted.
He ended the call and he poked her forehead, Lily tried to put on a stern look. She wanted to smile so bad but she didn’t.
As they stared at each other, Lily slowly started to feel less angry at him.
She loves the man in her presence so much she can’t even stay mad at him for so long.
“Excuse me.” She muttered and tried to move away but he didn’t let her, this time, he poked her nose and Lily bit her lip.
“Are you going to keep poking me or just talk?” She asked and he sighed, he pulled her to himself and wrapped his arms around her. As they hugged, Axel sighed in relief as he held her.
“She wore the shirt without me knowing about it. I just found out from you today and I didn’t sleep with her. I just lied because I was looking for a way to avoid having a conversation with you.” Axel explained and Lily pulled away from the hug and then stared at him.
“Really?” She asked and he nodded in response.
“You didn’t want to have a conversation with me because I said I love you?” Lily asked and he shrugged.
“Maybe.” He replied and Lily smiled.
“I don’t care if you don’t say it back, my love is enough for both of us.” She said and Axel chuckled.
“I will say it back.” He replied and she raised her brows.
“Soon, not now but soon.” He added and she nodded.
“I’m sorry.” He muttered and Lily smiled. She was happy again. She wasn’t mad at him anymore, she stopped being mad at him since she saw him.
“Is there anything else you are hiding from me? Something else you want to tell me?” Lily asked and he thought about it.
“No, nothing else.”
“Are you sure?” She asked and he nodded in response.
She hugged him and placed her head on his chest, she could hear his heart race and she smiled. Even if he doesn’t want to admit it or say it, she knows he loves her and cares about her.
“Ugh, I can’t wait to get out of this house.” Axel said as they pulled away from each other.
“Yeah, me too. This weekend wasn’t so fun.” Lily replied.
“Are you okay though?” he suddenly asked and Lily nodded.
“Yeah, why are you asking?”
“Everyone knows about your relationship with Malia and Mrs. McCall.”
“Oh, it’s nothing. They will know eventually.” She replied and Axel raised his hand to her hair as he held her waist with his other hand.
“How did you know Malia isn’t pregnant?”
“I overheard her telling her mum on the phone. She thought she was pregnant.” Lily replied with a wide smile. She was so happy she wouldn’t get to share her husband with anyone.
“I feel so relieved.”
“Me too.” Lily replied. They both smiled at each other and Axel slowly kissed her.
**********
A WEEK LATER
It’s been a week since the beach house incident, and everyone was aware that Malia wasn’t pregnant and that she lied.
Her mother was so embarrassed because of the shame it had caused them. Axel’s step mother too was disappointed. Her effort to get Malia to be with Axel kept falling. Nothing was working out.
Axel’s father was more furious than anyone else, he felt fooled. He was already happy that he would have a grandchild soon, or maybe it would have been a grandson.
He was so upset when he heard that she wasn’t pregnant.
This made the McCalls lose the little benefits they were gaining from the Blackwells.
Mr. McCall was so mad at Malia, he was this close to upgrading his status. He was supposed to be a billionaire, he was tired of being a millionaire. That was all about the McCalls.
Things have been going smoothly between Max and Nora. Their relationship wasn’t a secret anymore. Axel still wasn’t fully in support of it but it kept getting better every day.
Nora was glad things walked out.
Lily could also say she has had a great week so far. Although she spends most of her days and time with Nora.
Axel has been so busy, sometimes he doesn’t come home. If he comes home, he comes past midnight and leaves very early in the morning.
There are days Lily would try to wait up for him but she would end up falling asleep in the living room and meets herself in the room when she wakes up.
She wasn’t mad at him for being busy, she knew he needed to work and earn a lot, he had already spent millions on her and he needed to recover that.
Just like every other day, she was with Nora. She preferred going to Nora’s place rather than her visiting.
She just wanted to be away from home for a little while. She spent the day with Nora and every bit of it.
It was getting late and it was time for her to head home. She walked out of the house with Nora behind her, her chauffeur was already waiting for her by her car.
Since she couldn’t drive, the chauffeur takes her around in her car, she no longer uses any of Axel’s cars.
She was looking for a perfect time to discuss how she would take some driving lessons with Axel, she wanted to be able to drive herself, but she wasn’t so comfortable having the chauffeur around her every time.
She said goodbye to Nora and she headed home.
As she got closer to the mansion, she decided not to keep her hopes up about seeing Axel. He would be busy at work.
She got home and as expected, Axel wasn’t home.
She was sad, she understood the fact that he was busy but she missed him so much. She craved his touch and wanted to talk to him. She had so much she wanted to tell him.
Just like the way it had been going on for a week, she had dinner alone and went to bed. She decided not to stay up late, it was always in vain.
*******
Axel stared at his men as he watched them carry boxes filled with illegal substances into a truck. He was in one of his warehouses with Max. The week has been a really busy one for him.
They doubled their mode of operations because they needed to balance a lot of things back.
He had barely had time for himself not to talk of his wife. He had really missed her so much and he couldn’t wait to get the week done so he could spend the weekend with her.
As he stared at his men, his thoughts were filled with Lily. He couldn’t stop thinking about her. There are days he would meet her asleep in the living room, she would try to wait up for him but she would end up falling asleep.
He couldn’t wait to hear her whine about how he had been so busy and didn’t have time for her.
“What are you thinking about?” He suddenly heard a voice ask and he turned to see Max.
“Nothing.” Axel replied and Max raised his brows.
“Really? You had a smirk on.” Max said and Axel rolled his eyes.
“You were thinking about Lily, weren’t you?” Max teased and poked him. Axel shook his head at him.
“You can go home early today, I will wait till they are done.” Max offered.
“No, you don’t have to worry about that. We have the weekend free.” He replied and Max nodded.
Axel stayed till they were done, after that, he and Max left the warehouse.
Axel got home and he checked the time, he sighed when he saw it was past 2:00 am. As he walked out of the car, he wished Lily would wait up for him. He had missed her so much and wanted to see her.
He walked into the house and he was disappointed, she wasn’t there. He thought about going to her room to see her but he could wake her up. He wouldn’t want to do that.
His phone suddenly beeped and he looked at it. It was a text from Max.
“Oh shit.” Axel muttered and hurriedly called Axel.
“How the hell did the cops find out?” Axel asked.
“I have no idea.” Max replied.
Their last shipment of drugs wasn’t so successful. The cops found out.
“What are we… ” Axel trailed off and groaned when he heard the sirens.
“They are here already, I will call you.” He said and ended the call. The sirens got closer and louder.
In less than a minute, he heard them drive in. Axel wasn’t bothered about getting arrested, it wasn’t the first time. He was bothered the sirens would wake his wife.
He walked out of the living room and got outside, there were three cops’ cars. A man dressed in a suit walked out and walked towards Axel.
“Blackwell, it’s almost three in the morning. Why do I have to arrest you by this time of the day?” The man asked tiredly and Axel rolled his eyes.
“Turn off your fucking sirens, my wife is sleeping.” Axel said and the man turned to the cops, he nodded at them and they turned it off.
“Axel.” Axel suddenly heard Lily call his name and his heart skipped a beat before turning to see her. She was in her pyjamas and looked sleepy.
“Hey, baby.” Axel called and she walked to him. She hugged him as she got to him and Axel smiled and hugged her back.
“What is going on?” Lily asked as she pulled away from the hug.
“Nothing much. Don’t worry. Sorry, I woke you up.” He said trying to distract her from staring at the cops but her eyes were fixed on them.
“What did you do wrong?” Lily asked and turned to Axel. He smirked and played with her hair. He leaned closer to her and whispered in her ear.
“Your husband is a bad man.” He whispered in her ear and she chuckled.
