The drive back to the hotel was fast due to how Axel was driving. Axel pulled over and got out of the car, he waited for Lily to get out of the car but she didn’t.
He slowly walked over to her and leaned on the door. Her eyes were shut and her hair fell over her face.
“Get out of the car Lily.” He said but she ignored him.
Axel sighed and looked around since it was midnight, the front of the hotel was empty. No one was around.
He could easily carry her again but he didn’t want to, she had screamed and cried a lot already. Her head must really be hurting.
He sighed and turned to her again.
“Please, Lily. Get out of the car.” He pleaded and slowly, Lily opened her eyes.
He saw how red and swollen they were, she moved her hair from her face and Axel got a clearer view. She wasn’t looking so good.
Axel took a step back so she could open the car door, she did and walked out of the car.
She didn’t wait for him, she took off her heels and headed into the hotel. Axel trailed behind her.
Without saying a word to each other, they both entered the elevator.
They finally got to their suite, but still, they didn’t say a word to each other.
Lily was exhausted and needed to shower, she also wanted to sleep.
She paid no attention to Axel and made her way into the shower, she spent minutes under it as she was numb. She wanted to cry but she couldn’t.
She couldn’t tell if it was because of how high she was or if she had just cried too much and her tears were already dried up.
After she got tired of staying so long in the shower, she walked out and walked into the closet. She put on a free gown and walked out.
She got to the bedroom and met Axel sitting on the bed. He stood up as he saw her.
She tried to walk past him but he stood in front of her and she looked up at him.
“Are… are you okay?” He asked and she nodded in response.
“About what you saw at the club… ”
“I just want to sleep.” She cut him off and he sighed.
She tried to walk away again but Axel stopped her.
“I don’t want to hear your explanation.” She said and Axel scoffed.
“I don’t owe you an explanation. I wasn’t even going to explain anything to you.” He replied and Lily’s eyes widened a little. She couldn’t believe her ears. Did he really just say that?
“What?” She muttered.
“I was going to say, what you saw at the club was exactly what happened. The way you choose to take it is your choice.” He said and Lily’s lips parted in shock.
“Wh… what?” Her voice trembled.
“You can go to bed now.” Axel said and was about to walk away but she stood in his presence this time.
“Tell me you didn’t mean what you just said now.” Lily said with her voice breaking. Tears were already clouding her eyes.
Axel didn’t give her a response, instead, he just stared at her with no expression on.
Lily let out the breath she was holding and tears streamed down her eyes.
“You cheated on me and this is all you have to say?” She asked.
“You weren’t supposed to see that. You weren’t even supposed to be in a club, you are married. A married woman isn’t supposed to be clubbing and following strangers to their homes.” He replied and Lily scoffed.
“So it’s all my fault now? You were making out with a stripper!” Lily yelled in tears at him.
“You followed a stranger home. What were you going to do with him? What do you think he was going to do? Comfort you? I know you are gullible but I had no idea you were so dumb.” He snapped at her and she flinched.
Axel thought it had all ended there due to how she flinched but it didn’t.
“You know what? I would pick that stranger over you a million times. And do you know why? Because he is caring, he is the nicest person ever, he pays attention to every little detail and he knows how to treat a woman right.” Lily replied and was about to walk away from him but he pulled her back roughly and held her arm.
“Let go of me.” Lily said and tried to free herself from him but his grip on her tightened which made her let out a whimper.
“Watch what you say to me, Lily.” He warned with a stern look before letting go of her.
“Or what? What the hell are you going to do? Shoot me? Kill me? What are you going to do Axel?” She screamed at him.
“Quit being dramatic and go to bed.” He replied and tried to walk away from her again but she stood in his presence.
Axel was expecting another scream from her but instead, she burst into tears.
He was about to speak up but she beat him to it.
“I just want you to apologize. Apologise for what you did, I am not mad at you, I just want to hear you say you are sorry.” She pleaded in tears. Axel didn’t give her a response, he just stared at her.
“I understand it was a mistake and I wasn’t supposed to see it but I did and I want you to apologize. Just say you are sorry and I will let it go, please.” Lily pleaded again in tears but still Axel wasn’t saying anything, neither did he have an expression on.
“Come on Axel, please.” Lily cried and moved closer to him.
“I can’t.” He muttered.
“I can’t apologize.”
“Why? I will take it any way you say it.”
“Just go to bed, Lily.” He replied and Lily took a step back and placed her palm over her mouth as she cried. She was trying to stop herself from crying so loud.
She really wasn’t mad at him, she had no idea why she wasn’t mad at him though but she was sure she wasn’t. She just wanted him to apologize, his apology would go a long way.
He has hurt her a lot in different times and ways but he has never apologized to her. He never apologized for hurting her during sex at different times, he never apologized for making her do things she didn’t want to.
He never apologized for putting her through an abortion, he never apologized for sleeping with her sister and getting her pregnant. And now, this.
She knows it’s his ego and pride getting the best of him.
“You need to stop crying or your head will hurt.” He said and Lily shook her head.
She withdrew her palm from her mouth and sniffed.
“Why can’t you apologize to me?” She asked and looked at him. She didn’t break eye contact, she held his gaze.
“You weren’t supposed to see it. It’s not my fault.” He replied and Lily nodded.
“Okay. What about other things you have done to me? Can you apologize for that?” She asked and he sighed, he broke eye contact and clenched his jaw before looking at her again.
“Everything I have ever done was for a good reason. I don’t see a need to apologise.” He replied and Lily felt her heart shatter and her hands shaking.
“Forcing me into a marriage contract was for a good reason?” She asked and Axel furrowed his brows.
“Forcing you? I never forced you into anything. You signed that contract yourself because you were desperate.”
“What about the abortion?” She asked and Axel scoffed and groaned.
“Don’t bring that up now, come on. I had to do that, I don’t want a child.”
“Then get Malia to abort the pregnancy too!” She yelled at him.
“I am done having this conversation with you. I can’t really put up with your childish attitude anymore, if you think you can’t put up with the way I live then leave. Leave Lily, go get a life.” He snapped at her and she froze.
He really asked her to leave.
“Fine.” Lily replied and Axel paused. He wasn’t expecting her to agree to what he said, he was just bluffing.
“I will leave.” She replied and took off the ring in her finger and threw it at him.
Axel’s eyes widened and he hurriedly held her hand as she was about to walk away.
He stared at her as his heart raced, he thought of what to say but he couldn’t think of anything.
“Of course, you don’t have what you say, you always don’t have what to say.” Lily said and jerked her hand away from him. She walked out of the suite and Axel sighed.
He ran his hand through his hair and breathed out heavily.
A part of him wanted to apologize but he couldn’t just do it. Apologizing will make him look weak. He didn’t want that.
Will he really let her go just because he can’t apologize? Is he really ready to take that risk?
