Axel helped Lily out of the car and she chuckled out loud.
“Axel, I can walk myself.” She said.
“Are you sure?” He asked and she nodded in response.
“Okay, I will hold your hand then.” He said and Lily smiled at him as he held her hand.
Lily was just discharged from the hospital, she spent a day there and the doctor assured Axel she was fine before she got discharged.
They both walked into the house together. They got to the living room and they both paused when they saw Malia in the living room with Mrs. McCall.
Axel was surprised, and so was Lily.
Mrs. McCall smiled as she saw Axel, she stood up and walked towards him.
“Oh, welcome home Axel. The maids let us in.” Mrs. McCall said. She ignored Lily’s presence, it was like Lily was invisible to her.
“The maid let you guys in?” Axel asked as he looked back and forth between both of them.
“Yes.” She replied with a smile.
Lily couldn’t stand what was going on, she couldn’t watch it. She was about to walk away when Axel held her hand firmly, she gave him a look and he pulled her closer to himself and wrapped his arms around her waist.
Mrs. McCall forced a smile on her face, she felt so mad seeing Lily with Axel. That should be her daughter with Axel, not Lily.
Malia who was seated also had a fake smile on her face.
“What are you doing here Mrs. McCall?” Axel asked and her smile grew wider.
“Well, I already spoke to your father. Turns out you got my daughter pregnant and he asked you to take responsibility for it and asked her to move in with you.” She said and Lily sighed.
She tried to walk away again but Axel held her firmly, he hugged her from behind and pleaded his head on her shoulder.
“Just wait, don’t go.” He whispered in her hair before turning to Mrs. McCall.
She was glaring at Lily but she hurriedly replaced it with a smile when she noticed Axel looked up at her.
“I am not denying the pregnancy, I am not also saying I won’t take responsibility for it. But what I would not do is accept her into my home. I will get an apartment for her where she would stay but she is not welcome here. Everything she needs will be provided and if she wants to contact me in any way, she should go through one of my men. That is all I can do.” Axel explained and Lily felt joy in her heart but she didn’t show it. She still kept a straight face.
She so much hated her mother’s presence.
Malia who was seated stood up immediately and walked to her mother.
“But Axel, your father… ”
“I don’t care about the discussion you had with my father, no one can tell me what to do. If you are not okay with my terms and conditions, she can do whatever she wants. But if she goes about saying things she isn’t supposed to, I would get your family arrested. I have stated what I want, leave my house when you guys are done.” He said and Mrs. McCall’s lips parted in shock.
Turns out, things didn’t go as planned for them.
“Come on, Lily.” Axel said and pulled away from the hug, he held her hand and Lily looked at her mother who stared at her with an irritated look.
As much as she hated her mother, a part of her softens when she sees her. She just wants to be looked at the way a mother should look at her child properly. Not with hate in her eyes.
Lily felt her heart break as her mother glared at her. She has always wondered what she did to her mother that made her hate her so much.
She was so young when she left, she could remember the day she left clearly. Her father was on his knees begging her not to leave, her father begged her to not leave a child with him, he had no proper experience in taking care of a child.
Lily has always wondered what her father did so wrong that made her develop so much hatred for them. The hate was so much to the point that she didn’t care he was dying and she also wished Lily to die with him.
Axel’s voice snapped Lily out of her thought and she broke the gaze she held with her mother.
“Come.” Axel said and pulled Lily with him, they both walked up the stairs and Mrs. McCall glared at them as they did.
“Mum, what am I going to do?” Malia asked in tears and she turned to her with a glare.
“Will you quit whining and let me think of what to do?” Mrs. McCall snapped and walked out of the house. Malia groaned and trailed behind her mother.
Axel and Lily got to her room and Lily slowly sat on the bed, she didn’t want to cry, not over her mother’s issue.
“I don’t get why she hates me so much.” Lily said and Axel took a seat next to her.
“I don’t know what I did so wrong. I can’t even remember anything from my childhood.” She added.
“Don’t think about it.” Axel said and she turned to him.
“Do you think you handled what happened so well?” Lily asked.
“That was the best way I could handle it.” Axel replied and Lily sighed.
“You have nothing to worry about. She won’t be staying here, you will be seeing less of her just like the way it has always been.” Axel assured Lily and she nodded in response.
“You should get some rest.” Axel said and she shook her head.
“No, I am tired of resting. I feel so better now.” Lily said and smiled a little.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I feel okay.” She replied.
“Good. Then I think I should tell you this now.” Axel said and Lily drew her brows together as she wondered what could be wrong. Axel had a stern look on. He only had that look on when he had something serious to say.
“What? What’s wrong?” Lily asked.
“According to the contract, you have only six months left to spend with me.” Axel said and Lily felt her heart skip a beat. She gulped before nodding in response.
“What are your plans when you leave?” Axel asked and she bit her lip as she thought of a response.
She has always thought about it but never came up with the best answer. She knew she had no other life outside her fake marriage with Axel.
“Don’t you have an answer to my question?” He asked and Lily played with her fingers and stared down at it.
“I… I was thinking of maybe going to a proper high school for a year and after that, I could get into a college.” She replied.
“You want to go back to school?” Axel asked and she nodded in response.
“Yeah, I don’t know most things.”
“Okay. How about we make a new deal?” Axel asked and she looked at him.
“What deal?”
