Lily took a few steps backward from him and he ran his hand through his hair.
“Lily… ”
“Don’t say anything.” She cut him off, sounding upset a little. She felt like he took advantage of her because she was naive.
“I don’t like this, Max. But I won’t say anything about it because you are not in your right state of mind.”
“Ugh, I am in my right state of mind.” Max said and took a few steps closer to her, in fear, Lily took more steps back.
“Please, let’s just go back to the party. I promise not to tell Axel anything about this or… ”
“Come on. Axel doesn’t care.” He cut her off and she sighed.
“I know he doesn’t but… ”
“Axel doesn’t care about you Lily, he doesn’t give a shit about anything you do. He is at this party right now, having a conversation with other ladies without even being bothered about where you are. The sooner you accept it, the better it will be for you… ”
“Stop, stop it.” Lily yelled and cut him off.
Max sighed as he saw the tears in her eyes, she sniffed and wiped them as they streamed down her cheeks.
“My marriage with Axel is none of your business. Stay the hell away from me.” Lily said and walked away, Max sighed and ran his hands on his hair.
“Fuck.” He muttered.
Lily headed back towards the party, she kept wiping her tears as she walked. She got closer to the ballroom and paused when she realized the party was still going on.
Since she wasn’t feeling too well, she decided to head home. She walked to the parking lot and sighed seeing a lot of cars, she looked around and saw a lot of chauffeurs too.
All she needed to do was find Axel’s chauffeur.
She held her dress in her hand and walked to the midst of chauffeurs, she got there and used her eyes in search of him. She finally found him and waved at him, he noticed her and walked up to her.
“Hey, I want to go home now. Can you take me?” Lily asked.
“Of course ma’am, please come with me.” He said and Lily trailed behind him as they headed towards the car.
They got to it and both got in, the chauffeur ignited the car and drove off.
In minutes, they arrived at Axel’s mansion, Lily walked out of the car and walked into the house.
She wasn’t hungry, neither was she in the mood to do anything, she headed up to her room immediately.
She got in, changed into comfortable wear, fell on her bed, and drifted to sleep.
AT THE PARTY
“Lily.” Nora called as she walked around the mansion. She has been searching for her for almost an hour and hasn’t found her yet. She headed to the garden to continue her search for her.
On her way, she bumped into Max and she was surprised to see him. She thought he was with Axel back at the party.
“Max.”
“Hey.” He replied and tucked a hand in his pants pocket.
“Have you seen Lily?”
“Yeah, we were… ” He trailed off and Nora furrowed her brows.
“No, I have not seen her.” He replied.
“But you just said you… ”
“No, I don’t know where Lily is.” He cut her off and walked away. Nora groaned loudly and brought out her phone again to call her.
“Lily, for the fucking love of God, pick up your damn phone.” Nora groaned in frustration and headed back to the party.
The party finally came to an end, but still, there was no sign of Lily. Max left early, Axel was nowhere to be found.
Nora was bothered about everything that was going on, she wanted to inform Axel that she couldn’t find Lily but he wasn’t picking up, and neither was he around the party.
Nora was about to give up and head home when she noticed Axel walking out of the ballroom. She rushed after him and caught up with him when he was about to get to his car. She was about to speak up but paused when she noticed something was off about him.
She couldn’t tell what it was but she knew something was wrong.
“What?” Axel asked and she shook her head in response.
“Where have you been? I have been searching for you all night.”
“Why?”
“I can’t find Lily.” She replied.
“She is at home already. The chauffeur informed me.” He said and she sighed in relief.
“Okay but… ” Nora was cut off as Axel walked away from her, Nora chuckled in disbelief and scoffed.
“What the fuck is wrong with everyone today?” She asked out loud and shook her head.
Axel sat in his car as his chauffeur drove him home, he wasn’t feeling so good and he couldn’t wait to take a shower.
After what seemed like a long drive to him, they arrived home.
He walked out of the car and into his house, he rushed up into his room. Immediately he got in, he got out of his clothes and got into the shower.
He exhaled heavily and placed both his hands on the wall with his head bowed. He shut his eyes and images popped up in his head and he opened his eyes back immediately.
He felt so mad at himself and disgusted. He couldn’t get it all out of his head no matter how hard he tried. The thought of Lily finding out feared him, he didn’t know why it felt so wrong but it did.
It felt so wrong than taking a life to him.
After spending up to an hour in the bathroom, he walked out and got dressed.
He was about to lay on his bed when he thought of Lily again. He decided to check up on her, he needed to know how she was doing.
He walked out of his room and walked to her door, he slowly opened it and walked in.
He saw her sleeping peacefully on the bed and he walked towards her. He got to her bed and slowly took a seat next to her, he could hear her soft snores as he stared at her.
He stared closely at her and saw dried tears on her cheeks, she cried herself to sleep again.
He knows he hurt her, he hurts her every single time and never makes her happy.
He slowly lifted his hand to her hair and creased it, he sighed and made a promise within himself.
He promises to never hurt her anymore, all he wants now is to make Lily happy.
