Axel paid for everything Lily bought and they both walked out of the store with Axel helping her carry the bags out. He placed the bags in the back seat and they both entered the car.
Axel ignited it and drove into the streets.
Lily kept glancing at Axel as he drove, she was so curious to know what he and the female employee were talking about but at the same time, she wanted to ignore it. She wanted to act like she didn’t care.
She couldn’t hold it anymore, so she decided to ask.
“What were you discussing with that employee back at the store?” She asked and Axel glanced at her.
“Nothing much or interesting. Just random stuff about the store.” He replied and she furrowed her brows. That was obviously a lie.
“A random stuff that involves her writing down her phone number for you?” She asked and Axel turned to her. He noticed a stern look on her face which surprised him.
“It’s nothing, Lily.” He said and she rolled her eyes.
“Of course.” She scoffed and turned away from him.
Axel was surprised by her attitude, was she mad at him? He decided to let her be and he continued driving.
“Are we heading back to the hotel?” Lily asked after a few minutes of silence and Axel shook his head in response. He glanced at her again and she still had a stern look on, surprisingly he found it funny and he let out a chuckle.
He heard her gasp dramatically and he glanced at her again.
“What is so funny?” She asked.
“You. And I didn’t laugh.”
“You did.” She replied and he looked at her.
“I didn’t. I chuckled.”
“It is the same thing.” She replied with a frown.
“No its not. Laughing and chuckling are two different things.” He said and she huffed and folded her arms.
Axel shook his head at her childish behaviour and continued with the drive.
After a few more minutes on the road, he pulled over in front of a saloon.
“Come on.” He muttered and they both walked out of the car, Lily walked to him with a frown expression still on her face.
“Can you stop doing that?” He asked.
“Doing what?” She asked back with a glare. Again, Axel found it funny and he chuckled again. She was trying so hard to look mad but instead, she was looking so cute and funny.
“What is so funny?” Lily asked, raising her voice a little. She was upset he wasn’t taking her seriously.
“You.” He replied and she rolled her eyes. Axel held her hand and used his thumb to crease it.
“Let’s go in.” He said and she glanced at the saloon.
“Why did you bring me to a saloon?” She asked.
“What is done in a saloon?” Axel asked back and she smiled a little. He pulled her gently with him and they both walked into the saloon.
A lady walked up to them with a smile and Lily smiled back at her.
“Good morning sir and ma’am, how can we be of service?”
“Just take care of her.” Axel replied and the lady smiled at Lily.
“Please come with me, ma’am.” The lady said and Lily turned to Axel.
“What will you be doing? It might take up to an hour.” Lily asked concerned and Axel shrugged.
“I will wait.” He replied and she nodded at him, she walked away with the lady and Axel took a seat in the waiting area.
Thirty minutes passed and Lily was almost done, she had her hair done and her nails too. Lily kept staring at Axel through the mirror, he was really waiting for her.
He has been busy on his phone for the past thirty minutes. She was still surprised about his sudden act towards her. Was it because of what happened in the mirror? Was he trying to apologize to her through all this? Or is he just being this way because of the honeymoon? Or is he starting to enjoy her company?
Lily had a lot of questions that she knew she would have to find the answers to them herself.
Lily snapped out of her thoughts when she noticed one of the hairstylists seated next to Axel and talking to him.
Just like that lady at the store did, the hairstylist wrote down something on a piece of paper and gave it to him.
The stylist smiled at him then stood up and walked away. Axel turned to Lily and she hurriedly looked away from him.
“All done ma’am.” The lady painting her toenails said and Lily faked a smile at her.
“Thanks.” She muttered.
“All done?” She heard Axel ask and she turned to see him next to her.
“Yes sir.” The lady replied and helped Lily up from the seat.
They waited for a few minutes for her nails to dry then Axel paid the bill and they both walked out of the saloon.
Lily knew if she asked Axel what he was discussing with the lady, he wouldn’t tell her but she was too curious not to ask.
They were about to get to the car and she stood in his presence and Axel gave her a questioning look. This time, she wasn’t just upset, she was worried, sad, and insecure.
“Why do you keep talking to those ladies and collecting their number?” She asked with tears welling up in her eyes. Axel was surprised to see the tears in her eyes.
“What?”
“I am your wife and we are on our honeymoon. It is wrong for you to ask for other ladies’ numbers.” She said with her voice breaking. Her eyes were already filled with tears and would spill in any second.
“I am not collecting anyone’s number.” He replied and she sniffed, the tears streamed down her cheeks and Axel pulled her into a hug. He couldn’t watch her cry.
“Don’t cry, Lily.”
“Stop talking to other ladies.” She sniffed and Axel chuckled as he raised his hand and creased her hair.
“I won’t.” He replied and she pulled away from the hug, she wiped her tears and Axel watched her.
“I’m fine now.” She said and smiled, Axel shook his head and smirked.
His wife never ceases to amaze him.
