Dimitri POV
…..
Watching Sadie waddle towards the living in her walker. I notice how she stops a few times to turn around to make sure I am still following her.
She is adorable and getting more independent by the day. Soon she won’t even need that walker to walk. She will be running around without it in no time.
Walking around the corner I see my father sitting on the couch watching cops.
” You told Sadie to get me?” I asked him.
” Yeah, I wanted to tell you that a shipment is coming in tonight.” He says as he takes a sip of his coffee.
” I didn’t order any shipments.”
So there shouldn’t be anything arriving tonight.
” I order it. We need more to make a deal with the surrounding mafia families. We don’t need Daniel spreading lies about us, and getting support from powerful families.”
He isn’t wrong about needed to cut Daniel off from other mafia families. If he manages to get more people on his side. It will be hard to take him out. Not to mention I would have to dig more holes for all the bodies. Anyone taking Daniel’s side deserves to be killed.
” What is the shipment?” I question him.
” It’s just drugs.” He tells me.
Feeling a tap on my leg I look down to see Sadie holding her arms up to me. I lean down and gently pick Sadie up out of her walker carefully.
” What time does it get here?”
” It arrives at ten thirty.” He tells me.
That is good timing. Sadie will already be in bed sleeping and Amara would just be relaxing in bed.
” Fine, but don’t buy anymore drugs. I don’t need anymore shipments coming in.” I tell him, before I head back into the kitchen.
I am still hiring men and sorting out the mess Daniel made. So, having more shipments coming in would be a pain. I would have to figure out where to put it all. I already had to move all of my drugs, and buy new warehouses with different locations due to Daniel planting his spies. Although a lot of that is partly my fault for doing things my father’s way. I shouldn’t have continued doing things his way. I knew at a young age that there was a flaw in the way my father ran things. I should have started doing thing my way. The second I took over the family business. If I had Amara wouldn’t have been taken or raped.
” What about all of our stuff?” I hear Amara question both Lucia and Liam.
” It has been moved into a storage unit. Until the new mansion is ready for us to move into.” Lucia says in a reassuring tone.
” What about all the men you guys hired?” I hear Amara question them.
” They are living in a remote area. So, it is nothing to worry about.” I tell Amara.
I had to move all my men into a secured location. That way Daniel couldn’t sneak anymore spies in. I personally hired each man myself to keep Daniel out of my business and to not have a repeat of another disaster. It even keeps him from being able to kill my men.
I watch her stare at me and at Sadie who I was carrying.
” Dada, go outside?” I hear Sadie ask softly.
I smile at her, ” Yes, we can go outside in a little bit.” I say giving her a kiss on the forehead.
I look over at Amara to see that she is deep in thought. ” You okay?” I ask her.
Amara smiles at me, ” Yeah, I am fine. Maybe we can go to a park. So, Sadie can play on the swings and in the sandbox.”
I shake my head, ” No, she can play just fine with her toys in the backyard.”
Sadie isn’t going to a park. Not with Daniel still running around. I don’t want to let Sadie or Amara out of my sight. They are to stay here at all times. Until I say otherwise and allow them to go anywhere.
” Dimitri, it is just a park filled with children and parents.” Amara tells me.
” Yes, and kids get taken from parks all the time.” I tell her.
” Kids get taken from school, parking lots, stores, and homes. You can’t keep her locked away Dimitri.” She tells me.
I want to laugh at that comment. I can keep Sadie safety locked away from the outside world. I can give Sadie everything she will ever need. I can even homeschool her.
” Yes, I can and I will.” I tell Amara as I take a seat next to her with Sadie in my lap.
Amara rolls her eyes, ” How is she suppose to make friends. If you don’t let her be around other kids.”
” She can make friends, but only with kids I pick out for her.” I tell her.
” You, Lucia, and Liam all went to a public school, parties, and parks filled with children and strangers. You guys turned out fine and so did I.” She points out to me.
” Yeah, because we knew how to take care of ourselves. The world has changed since we were kids. So, she isn’t going to public school.”
” Can you two talk some sense into him!” Amara says looking at Liam and Lucia.
Liam shakes his head, ” Nope, don’t put me in the middle.” He says getting up from the table.
” If he say no. It is going to be a no.” Lucia says getting up from the table. I watch him walk over to the counter and get a small bowl down from the cabinet. I watch him pour cheerios into the bowl, and walk back over to the table.
He puts the small bowl filled with cheerios, and places it infront of Sadie. I watch her smile, ” Tank you.” She tells Luica happily as she gets a handful of cheerios, and shoves it into her mouth.
Amara smiles watching her, before looking at me. ” Will you at least consider letting her go to public school?” She asked me.
” No, there isn’t anything to consider. She isn’t going to public school. She is staying home where I can keep an eye on her at all times.”
I watch Amara angrily get up from the table and storm out of the kitchen.
” You could have lied and said you would consider it.” Lucia tells me.
” Why lie about it. When I can tell her the truth now. Sadie isn’t going to a public school or out of my sight. She is staying home.” I tell him as I watch Sadie eat her cheerios.
” Juice!” Sadie tells us.
Lucia chuckles, ” Right, I forgot about your juice.” I watch him walk back over to the cabinet. He grabs Sadie favorite Paw Patrol sippy cup .
He than sets the sippy cup on the counter, before walking over to the refrigerator. ” Red or orange.” Lucia says asking Sadie if she wants Kool-aid or orange juice.
” Red!” Sadie shouts happily.
I watch Lucia nod his head, ” Red it is.”
I kisses Sadie on her forehead, before standing to my feet. I gently put Sadie into a high chair and buckle her in. Grabbing her bowl I place it on the adjustable food try.
” Keep an eye on her. I am going to go talk with Amara.” I watch Lucia pour the red colored kool-aid into the Paw Patrol sippy cup.
” Yeah, I can do that.” He says nodding as he puts the lid onto the sippy cup.
” Thanks.” I say giving Sadie one last kiss on her forehead, before I walk out of the kitchen. I check the living room, before going down the hallway.
I find Amara in the bedroom folding clothes and place them into a pile. She looks at me and rolls her eyes, ” What do you want?”
” I just want to talk.” I say shutting the door behind me.
” Why?! You already made it clear that you want to homeschool Sadie and keep her locked away.” She says grabbing a handful of clothes and walking over to the dresser. I watch her open a drawer and start placing the clothes inside.
” I want to homeschool her, because it will be a safer option.”
” It maybe a safer option, but you aren’t allowing her to grow. She needs friends and life experiences. She can’t have those things with you being overprotective.” Amara says as she slams the drawer shut.
” She will have life experiences.”
” No, she won’t! Because you are being an overprotective ass!” Amara snaps at me.
” You are being over dramatic. Kids get homeschooled all the time and turn out just fine.”
Sadie will have a good childhood. She is being dramatic.
