“Mr. Alfonso.” Michael Bruce called loudly, to loud for my liking.
“Do you know him.” Dad questioned quietly.
“He dropped by at the office days ago.” I replied, he’s drawing too much attention for my liking.
“We meet again, sooner than expected.” His loud voice came again, he wants those around to know we are acquaintance.
I glare at his outstretched hand, waiting for me to receive it. I reluctantly took his hand briefly.
“I didn’t know I will meet you here.” His horrid chuckle sounding like a female giggle irritating me. The fuck he doesn’t know I will be here, when has his men look keep track on me.
“Are going to say why you’re here?”
I don’t entertain foreplay with words,
“Ah, we are working together now, I just want us to be more….”
“I don’t remember working with you.” I think I should make things clearer, I don’t work with be anyone. I’m a lone fighter, I don’t mix myself with pretentious and manipulative people.
“About the trafficking case.”
“I don’t remember agreeing.” My words are blunt and cold just as I intend them to be.
“Oh, I know you will.” He’s smug, he knew I’d look into the case once brought to my desk.
And he’s right, but he’s wrong for thinking I will be doing it for him. My targets are those fuckers, risking young lives for benefits.
Now, I’m no Saint, I’m a killer but only those that targets me first. I don’t go for innocent lives, I eliminated only the evil intent ones.
My gaze went over to my standing across the room, a glass of wine in her hand. The second I saw her in that dress, I wanted to rip it off her with my bare hands.
It’s fucking criminal the way it hugs her body, which hasn’t been easy to ignore in the first place. I’ve been gawking like a fucking pussy all night, I blame it on her for being this sexy.
She must have felt my stare on her because she looked directly at me and wink. Damn this woman, I curse under my breath.
“Your wife is indeed a beauty to behold.” Michael murmurs into his drink.
I toss him a bland, one he failed to see since he’s too busy staring shamelessly at my wife.
My woman!
My jaw ticks, I feel the rage boiling in my veins.
“Keep staring at her, and I’ll make sure you don’t see for the rest of your life.” I hissed, barely keeping my fists by my side.
He raised a brow, he has a challenging look in his eyes.
“You being in the military won’t save your ass from me if you mess with me.”
He nods, he sighs deeply.
“Enough with the seriousness.” He smirked, the gilt in his eyes darkened. “I’m eagerly awaiting our cooperation.” And he left.
“He’s up to know good.” Dad said, he’s been silent throughout my exchange with that military guy. Observing the man and his movements.
“I know.” I replied, slightly agitated. Dad pat my shoulder twice, it’s his form of reminding of his support.

After so chattering among everyone, the started. Everyone moving to their respective seats, Mom and I went over to where dad and Marco are seating. It’s a round table for four, with a tag written boldly, The Alfonso.
The host came on stage, addressing the crowd and thanking everyone for coming. He introduces himself, James Jnr Ricco. His family runs a nonprofit charity organization, they aim to help raise funds and distribute to orphanages and elderly homes.
So all elite personal, business moguls, and politicians are invited.
This event isn’t just all about charity and raising funds, it’s also a way for businessmen and women to merge ideas and collaboration.
“Everyone let’s welcome one if our distinguish guest, Marco Alfonso!” James called with a smile, sending a nod to our table.
All eyes rested on our table, applauding as Marco stoop up and make his way to the stage. He exchanged a brief handshake with James and went on to give his speech.
Marco was very snappy with his speech, just a little introduction of his business, his legal business. He spoke about the purpose of this event briefly, then hastily concludes his speech.
Good guess, he doesn’t like these
Other important guest gave speeches, Marco Dad was supposed to address the crowd, but he simply waved it off. And then they proceed with the main course of today’s event, fund-raising.
