We are trapped.
Silence fell on the room, with great tension hanging in the air. My breathing slow down as I took in everything, they were forging oblivious to our presence.
Not acknowledging us, or intentionally hanging us in suspense. Camila and Isabella cower to my side, both of them held on to my hand. I couldn’t dictate what Camila was feeling, but I could easily feel the fear radiating off Isabella.
I was panicking inwardly, but I try not to show it out, I know better than to let my enemy perceive my fear.
“Observations…. Observations.” The man on the chair spoke up, bringing his gaze upon us. He wasn’t very handsome, but he had the most beautiful pair of sea green eyes, they are dreamy and alluring.
His left fingers tapping on the armrest softly, his legs crossed over the other in a typical Mafia boss way, while a cigarette in between his right fingers.
He brought the cigarette up to his mouth, I watch as his lips parted before wrapping on the cigarette. He dragged from it then puffed out the smoke, from his mouth and nostrils, at the same time.
“That boy didn’t teach you to be observant of your surroundings?” He taunted with a smirk, he was trying to provoke us. “Any smart person would have sniffed this trap out, but obviously, you’re not that smart.”
“No, That Alfonso failed in teaching you the ways of our lifestyle.” He continued his taunting.
I remain passive, not affect by his words, one because Marco wouldn’t be so careless as to let us wander around without any form of inspection. Marco ones told me he had spies in everything of his enemies team, just as they have on him.
Secondly, this might be one of Marco’s traps, this place is his territory and nothing will occur without him sniffing it. So I’m not entirely sacred, but I can’t say the same for Isabella, she’s scared to death.
“Zoey, right?” He didn’t ask more like teasing. “Marco Alfonso’s little weakness.”
Weakness? That is true, I know Marco would do anything to protect me but right now, I’m open to danger, Why?
To lure his enemies out of hiding.
Haa, I got it now.
“I would say he’s a bit too careless to leave his little slut out in the open, they are dangers around.” He made a thoughtful face, that’s your clue to know this is a trap, dummy.
“Right Rebecca?” He added.
Rebecca? Yeah, I almost forgot we all came in here together.
“Yes boss.” She answered.
Boss? Boss who? Him? How come? How come this is happening right under our nose?
I glare at her, her state was already waiting for me. She wasn’t smiling neither was she frowning, her expression was passive.
“Why?” I grit, my whole body grew tensed with anger. I took her as a friend, a very close friend.
She didn’t reply immediately, she stared at me for a few seconds longer.
“My inheritance is on the line.” She simply stated, no form of long explanation. My glare intensifies, I was boiling in rage. Was it not the same inheritance that made Marco forge an engagement with her?
How could she stab him in the back, this will be a massive blow for Marco? He won’t be expecting this betrayal, I can’t stand to see him go through it.
“You bitch!” I spat, “Shameless and disgusting.” I hissed.
She didn’t retaliate, neither did she respond not fazed by my words. She simply turns to the bastard she’s working for.
“I’ve done my end of the bargain, keep yours.” She said coldly. I didn’t know she could be this cold and distance, like a robot with no emotions, no feelings.
“I’m out.” She turns and left not before giving me another cold look.
I just wish I could strangle her to death, I am left breathless from her betrayal.
I return my glare to the bastard as he stood up from his almighty chair, he wore a sly smile
“Make do with them.” He instructed, just then I felt a prick on my neck, instantly I was clouded with darkness.
Marco p. o. v
I was bored, this fool has been going on and on about the movements of the business, he even had the time to talk about an informant disguise as a stripper.
Was that piece of information necessary? I smirked to myself.
He was buying time, for whom? We will know soon.
I wasn’t able to continue watching his face as he goes on rumbling like a nagging wife, so I closed my eyes and relaxed more on the chair.
“Don, I’m done.” He said lamely, chuckling nervously.
“Is that all.” I ask casually.
“Yes Don. I will inform you immediately if anything comes up before you leave.” He was trying too hard to please me, which already gave him out.
“Why then do I sense that that’s not all there is for me to know? Are you leaving any information out?” I played along, giving him a soft smile, one he immediately fell for.
His tensed shoulders relaxed and his posture straightened.
“I wouldn’t dare, Don. I am your very loyal servant.”
I hummed in response, nodding my head to make it seem more believable that I believe him.
“I trust,” I told him. “The same way I trust him.” Just then Matthew brought in fellow accomplice of his.
Beaten to the brick of death, a few more punches will send him straight to coma.
Seeing he has been caught, he fell down on his knees.
“Don, it’s not what you think, we were trying to gather information for you. We will never betray you, not in this life.” He nervously mumbled out.
Desperate for his life to be spared.
“Oh…..” I made a thinking face, “Why didn’t you say this earlier, I’ve had Mr. Rocco beaten for no reason, how do I compensate for it now.” I smirked, but this time in a more fearsome manner.
Mr. Santino flinched back from the look in my eyes, he saw his death in my eyes.
“Don….. please.” He fell on his butt. “Have mercy…. please.”
“Mercy? Do you think you have the access to it? No, I don’t think so.” I questioned.
He didn’t think of the consequences when he colluded with my enemy, now I’m supposed to have mercy on him.
Too bad I don’t forgive snakes.
“Matthew.”
“Yes, Don.” He answered.
“According to my law, how do we punish snakes.” I asked, looking directly to Mr. Santino as he shook his head desperately.
Silently pleading for a miracle, the miracle that is never going to happen.
For an escape from me. Not an option when you decide to stab me in the back.
“Strip them off their skin.” Matthew answered.
“Very good.” I nod.
“Marco.” A feminine voice caught my attention, I smiled sweetly as she emerges through the door.
She watt her way towards me, giving Matthew a little wave of hand.
“Rebecca.” I breathe out.
