Eloise Knew All Along

Book:The CEO Contracted Wife Published:2025-2-8

POV: Raphael
She’s smart…
She knows that It takes ten minutes to disrupt a trace after the alarm goes off. I guess she knew she was being traced all along. Or maybe she found out after the alarm went off, I really can’t say. It was gathered that she did an upgrade to her security system, I am beginning to think that it’s more than just an update it’s like a hack detector and the likes of it that iswould keep her gadgets safe from hackers.
It still amazes me how she acted so normal, pretending to care deeply about Eloise. She knew her device was being traced, and yet she still called her back like she promised and continued to pretend to care about her.
“I’m sorry to hear about that, Eloise. How can I help, is there something I could get for your on my way to Havana?” she asked her, chuckling like an over excited schoolgirl that is preparing for prom with her besties.
I felt like something was off when she inquired about Raphael’s mom’s mental health and how his dad was taking care of her. She knew they were still in the city, and she knew they were in a hotel too. That seemed weird and I felt she was fishing for clues. I had no idea that she was still playing us, down to this moment.
We made sure Raphael’s Mom kept her engaged, we kept them talking about silly things that don’t matter while we kept tracing her phone. But we were still unable to get to her. She ended the call just when we were about to get to her, and I knew immediately that she was doing it on purpose to stall our investigation. She knows already, she knows we are on her case and she is toying with us on purpose.
I wanted to say something to draw their attention to what I thought was happening here, but I kept mute because I wasn’t sure yet, and I didn’t want to interrupt their call or give her clues to find out what we were planning. They ended their call on a good note, and then she said she had an emergency to attend to. She hung up with a pleasant smile and promised to come bearing gifts tomorrow.
“Did you get it?” I asked my guys after the call ended, but he shook his head sadly, telling me he didn’t succeed.
“It was as if she knew what I was doing and she was checking a timer to monitor me. She hangs up just at the right moment to disrupt my trace, she never missed or made a mistake!” he responded with a frustrated sigh as he tapped nonstop on his computer.
He could have gotten her location through his tracing link, he was so close to getting it. But Eloise kept hanging up before the trace was completed, we couldn’t locate her no matter how hard we tried. While I was here thinking that finding her was the only problem we had, I had no idea that we had a bigger problem on the way.
I thought that Carl and my tech geek had everything under control. But the other guy wouldn’t stop typing on his keyboard relentlessly. We have established the fact that the trace did not go as we planned, and I was expecting him to pack up and leave because I was getting upset from seeing him in front of me after he just failed to get a simple task done.
It’s one thing to have a tech geek, and it’s another thing to have a tech geek who is good at his job. This guy is obviously not good at his job and I may have to get rid of him sooner. I was already getting ready to ask him to get the fuck out of my sight when I noticed that he is worried about something.
He kept looking worried as he tapped on his keyboard, typing and trying as much as he could to avoid my eyes. He wasn’t looking at Miguel, too, and I could see the fear and guilt in his eyes. He is actually so strange and that seems too weird to ignore, so I asked him about it.
“What the hell is going on there?” I asked in anger, glaring daggers at him. He raised his head for a brief second, giving me a look I could not even interpret.
“Boss, I think we have a problem. I tried stopping it, boss, but her devices are top grade, and they are customized to fit her description. She has top-grade military tracking devices, and I’ve been unable to get one for many years now that I have been searching for it. She did not only block my tracking devices, boss, but she also hacked my system to trace us and trace the Myers as well.” He told us sadly.
” You mean you weren’t able to find her like you were instructed to. But somehow, she got my mom’s location from your device, and now she has sent her boys to eliminate my parents?” Miguel asked in both anger and frustration.
“Just how incompetent are you? How could you let that happen?” he yelled at him, glaring at him furiously.
“You are the most incompetent fool I’ve ever worked with, and you have to find a way to make this right, find a way around her hacks before I use you as bait for fish!” I threatened him furiously. I knew she was up to no good; I knew she had a trick up her sleeve. Honestly, I don’t even need to blame him for not knowing that she could do something like that.
She has been playing us from the first day, she has always been way ahead of us in this game. We are only trying to keep up with her. Luckily, the tech guy discovers her trace link before she sends thugs over here or to the hotel.
“Get Mom out of there right now; she knows you are there, and they will soon get to you,” Miguel ordered his head of security, named Shaun. We had to get them into hiding before her thugs arrived. We were able to warn Shaun and get them ready for the fools before they arrived.
But just as Shaun was getting ready to take them away, we heard the sound of a phone call, and it was coming from the tech guy system that he used to initiate the trace. We all stopped to gaze at the screen because we knew that it was only Raphael’s mom’s phone that was linked to this system. We looked at the screen carefully, and true to our thoughts, it was his mom’s phone, and she was calling Eloise again without our saying so.
“What the hell is she up to?” I thought within me.
“What is she doing this time?” Miguel asked aloud, sounding as confused as the rest of us.
“Hi Juliette, did you have something you want to say to me?” she asked Mom in the same tone she had been using since their first call.
“You can quit the pretense, you snake!
I know it’s you all these years, and I know that you know what I was trying to do when I called you earlier. So why don’t you quit the pretense, Eloise Kendall?” She asked her in a fierce tone that scared the shit out of me.
