POV: Dominic
“I love Claire, Capo. It’s very difficult for me to give up my fiancee. I would love a little compensation if in going to let her go. I need some extra cash and a little compensation.” He told me the day I met him to offer him the deal. He also requested for my connection and backing to move around some territories that belong to Carlos.
I smiled at his bravery to speak before me and make demands from me when he knew that he owed me so much money already. I bought all his debts and yet he doesn’t think it’s enough. I could have just killed him on the spot and no one will dare question me about it. But I simply smirked at him and agreed to all his requests without question.
He made her believe that the drugs were collected on her behalf. The bag pack contained drugs worth a million dollars and I offered him half the money and a place to sell it faster to save her mother. That was the best deal ever, he gets a clean slate and she gets the money for her mom’s surgery on time. He brought her over to see me after telling her the drugs were all he was getting from me.
He made her believe that after peddling the drugs, she could then have money for her mom’s treatment. He told her that after her mom recovers, she is expected to pay back the money for the surgery. He wants to take every dime from her and I would have let it go if he kept to his end of the bargain. But he crossed the line when his greed made him sell my drugs and keep the whole money for himself.
Apparently, her sister found a way to pay for their mom’s surgery and she didn’t need to move drugs to get the money anymore. I found out from the hospital that an anonymous patron cleared the bills and sponsored her mother’s treatment. I really wished I was the anonymous patron that the doctor spoke about. But I wasn’t and I was glad to see her smiling again.
I expected her to return the drugs back to me, I hoped she would be smart enough to get the drugs away from him. But she trusted him with it and he sold it all and gambled the entire money away without remitting a dime to me. She never asked him about it anymore, she just went about her business and I got really pissed when she didn’t even call to tell me how she sorted her issues.
I extended a hand of friendship, but she didn’t take it. She moved on with her life as if I never existed. That fucking pissed me off. I could only watch from afar as she cared for her mom. I left a guy to watch over her and report back to me. He’s my friend and personal assistant. He had only one job, watch over her and keep her safe until I decided to come for her.
He watched her for a few days, but she left the hospital and he couldn’t follow her to where she moved to because he was blocked from getting to her. It turns out that they were moved to a secure location by a powerful man in the city. I have no idea who the powerful man is at that time. If I knew it was Raphael, I would have just run him over with a truck to prove a point.
Since I didn’t know who it was, I had to get in touch with Kyle and demand that he keep to his end of the bargain and bring her to me. But Kyle had already decided to play me for a fool, so he refused to speak with me and he kept running away from my boys each time I asked them to bring him. But I really wanted to know her hideout and I didn’t want to announce my presence in her life yet.
So I had no choice but to keep searching for the asshole around the city like a lunatic. When I found him, I offered him money to get her location. And then he told me all about her sister’s fiance and how he is a wealthy billionaire in the city. I didn’t care much about the details after I got her location. He even offered to help me find her and bring her to me.
“Claire wishes to come over and spend some time with you, Capo. But her new residence is so far in the estate. She needs a car to move around the city,” he lied, demanding a car to bring her over. To think that he didn’t say anything about my money anymore, he didn’t say one word about our initial agreement. I played along and let him keep thinking that he was the wisest and that he was playing me for a fool. Whereas, I know for a fact that he is the biggest fool ever.
I let him have a car, and as long as he agreed to bring her to me, I was willing to do whatever he desired. In fact, to show him that I was serious about her, I let him choose a car of his choice, a car he claimed that she loved. He looked too excited as he drove my sports car out of my garage. I knew he was up to no good the moment he asked for that car, but I let him have it anyway.
It was when I had him trailed around town that I found out that he was making plans to elope with my car and my money. He has a girlfriend who is a close associate with Carlos. She rode with him around town in my car, and together they tried to steal my car and my money. As if that was not enough, he even tried to double-cross me. His lover linked him up with Carlos and he was going to betray me after stealing from me.
I couldn’t wait for that to happen and that is why I put a price on him and his girlfriend in the street. I made them the target of every thug and hired assassin in the city. I didn’t stress myself after that, I just stayed in my house and waited for them to be brought to me. I got a call that his girlfriend was killed in her apartment a few hours after I asked for their heads.
The open contract had nothing to do with Claire, I already knew her location and I was going to go and get her myself. But after his girlfriend was killed, Kyle knew that he could never escape me. So he went over to her house and picked her up to use her as a human shield to protect himself. When he was seen with Claire, the guys didn’t know that she wasn’t the girl I demanded for. They thought it was her and that is why she was brought to me along with him.
When I was informed of her presence, I felt so bad when I saw the bruises on her face. I can’t bear to see her hurt, I could have let her go, but I wanted her to see through his disguise. I wanted her to know that he was not the right guy for her. First, I will make him expose his true character to her. I will push his buttons until he gets it all out and expose himself.
I heard her sister lamenting about her deep undying love for him. I’ve seen it for myself as well, I’ve seen her doing crazy things for him. She is so innocent and gullible whenever she is around him. I know it will be so difficult to get her to love me this soon, but I’m hoping she finds out the truth about his fake feelings for her. If she is as smart as I think, then this is supposed to be an eye-opener for her.
“Sit Claire, I want to have a word with you.” I told her when she was brought to my living room by my order. I saw defiance in her eyes, and I love her resilient soul. I wonder how such a smart, beautiful lady ended up with that idiot, Kyle. She looked like she could use a drink. So I got up and poured her a glass of sweetened red wine with ice.
I felt her eyes on me as I moved to the bar, and poured two glasses of wine for the both of us. I almost smiled at her to make her feel at ease, but I need to be stern if I hope to achieve any results with her. I kept my gaze stern and professional, and I didn’t let my gaze linger on her no matter how much I desired to stare lustfully at her. I placed the drink on the table in front of her, ignoring her fierce gaze,
“So, here’s the deal. I’m going to ask you a question and I expect you to respond to me fast and truthfully. I’m not a patient man and I don’t want to get upset with you. Trust me, you don’t want to get me upset, you may not live to tell the story. Do you understand me?” I warned her. She nodded slightly, refusing to look at me. But that’s fine, I’m sure she gets my point.
“Where is my money, Claire? Did you really think you and your boyfriend could steal from me and get away with it?”
