Lets Keep Faking It

Still Mavericks POV
“I’m surprised you do not recognize these cars, Alpha. I know you are the Alpha and you have a lot of things on your mind, but that doesn’t mean that you cannot recognize your cars, Alpha Maverick,” she responded calmly, trying to avoid looking into my eyes. I groaned within me as I thought she wanted to lie about it and pass it off as mine. Maybe she thinks I won’t know the number of cars I possess because the cars in this packhouse are just too many. But she is so wrong to think that I’m gullible and stupid. It’s true that there are many cars in the pack house, and yes, she is right to think that I won’t know the number of cars in the whole building because they are just too many and I won’t abandon everything I have to do and start keeping tabs on the number of cars that are being used in the pack house.
“Are you saying I’m now stupid too stupid that I don’t know the number of cars that I drive, would you like me to call Leroy over here and ask him to come here with my account books so I can trace every penny I’ve spent in the last ten years?
Would you want me to show you receipts to every damn thing that I own in this pack house, is that what you want?
I mean, will that make you believe that I know my car when I see it?” I asked her furiously, adding mild insults and sarcasm. She turned pale when she realized that she could lose her job for what she just said to me. She fell to the floor and bowed her head in shame, looking so pale that I feared she would pass out in front of me.
“I’m so sorry Alpha, I never meant it that way. I would never speak ill of my Alpha, that would be a punishable offense and I really do not want to get in trouble with you, Alpha. I’m so sorry if I crossed a line, I promise it won’t happen ever again. I was just trying to remind you that this is your car that your father gifted to Harold Armstrong and the one parked outside belongs to your fiancee, the future Luna, Cameron.” She explained calmly while still trying to avoid my face. I guess she didn’t mean to lie to me after all, I should have waited a few more minutes and let her finish her statement before attacking her with questions. I really need to work on my patience, I’m becoming too grumpy.
“Why is Cameron parked outside the gate, won’t it be difficult to walk the rest of the distance to the pack house?
And why the hell are they all here, what are they doing inside my packhouse when there is no one in there to receive them. Is there a meeting fixed for today that I do not know about, are my parents back from their cruise ship, or did my sister decide to pay us all a surprise visit from the states?
What are they doing here, and for how long have they been visiting the pack house in our absence, and why the hell did you keep mute about it?” I let out loudly, throwing the question to the maids and guards as I dialed Roy’s number. They shared a gaze with each other and they looked away, trying to avoid my eyes. I’m guessing that they have learned how to speak with their eyes so as not to offend anyone with their words. They have been doing it for so long that they are now so perfect with it.
“I would appreciate it if you speak with your mouth and not with your eyes. Why didn’t you alert me to their visits, why am I just finding out today?” I repeated my question, sounding angry and displeased.
“We are sorry, Alpha. We thought they were granted access to the basements by you and your father, considering your relationship with Cameron. Besides, Cameron makes us believe that she has the right to move around in the pack house as she pleases. Who are we to question her decision, she’s our luna, and there is nothing we can do about it.” She let out sadly, bowing her head in regret and submission. Hearing her speak about Cameron this way made me feel so bad for every one of them. It must be so hard to put up with her overbearing attitude, every fucking day. I’ll make sure I don’t add to their misery by making her the Luna. That would be the worst mistake of my life and I’m glad Val is here to make sure that never happened.
“How fast can you get to the pack house, I need you here as soon as possible.” I told Roy on the phone. I dismissed the guards and maids when I was done with them. I let them go because I needed to see if some of them are loyal to the Armstrong’s. I know that they must have some loyal guards and maids that look out for them and instruct them on what to do to avoid the security cameras. I’m counting on these ones to pass the information to Harold and his kids. I want them to know that I’m around, I want to see what their reactions would be.
“Put a team of handymen together. I have a job that requires the expertise of a construction team, I mean, a good construction team. Just get the team together, my PA would call you in a few minutes and ask you to come up with a rough estimate for a job in my basement. I need you to accept the job, no matter what his offer might be. I’ll see you later in the day and I’ll let you know what I’m planning. Just accept the damn job and wait for my next instructions.” I told him sternly. I never knew I would send my scientist to handle something like this. But as they say, desperate times call for desperate measures.”
I’m going to show these folks that I am not my father or grandfather. I am not the kind of man they can take out so easily. They may have succeeded in getting my dad to comply with their requests and ignore their conniving, manipulative spirits. I know I could be taken down, but I’m not scared anymore, and that is simply because I’m different from the kind that has sat on this throne before me, and I have a plan. I am not alone, I have Valerie and together, we will put an end to all this madness and take us back to the way we used to be.
“Alpha Maverick!
What a pleasant surprise!
It is so good to see you, although I must admit, I wasn’t expecting you back here so soon. I was informed by the guards that you are asking questions about us, son. I decided to come up here and personally see you. Your fiancee said some horrible things about you, but trust me, I don’t want to believe a word she said because I know you can never accuse my son and my daughter falsely. You are such a gentleman, you would never treat my daughter badly.” Harold let out with a smile, trying to be diplomatic. I scoffed at his silly excuse of an explanation, does he think that I’m stupid?
“It was just a misunderstanding, Harold. There was an incidental at the club, but don’t worry, I’ve got it all figured out and I know who my enemies are now. It’s quite unfortunate that I am still being underestimated.” I let out sternly, speaking indirectly, smiling evilly at him, faking normalcy. Since he wants us to keep deceiving each other, then I’m game. Let’s just keep faking it and see who wins.
