Still Mavericks POV
“Do you think the belladonna is doing the job, why is she still walking, should we have used the Wolfsbane?” he asked, sounding curious and stupid at the same time. I recognize that plant he just mentioned. It is called belladonna, and it is a type of nightshade plant that is poisonous to werewolves and humans. Belladonna is a slow poison, and Val still has a chance to survive it. But if they had used wolfsbane on her, her chances so survival would have been next to none. Who are these people, and what are they up to?
“Are you fucking insane, why would you suggest that, do you want her dead before we can extract her powers?
Elaine said her powers would die with her, is that what you want, is that what we came here for, did we risk our lives and betray king Gerald just to get here and kill her?” A lady responded to him furiously, scolding and answering him at the same time.
I don’t know who they are, there is no way I can get that information from their voices, but I can confidently say that they see very dangerous people. They know too much and sad to say, they have dangerous weapons that could harm us. When I first heard him speak about the belladonna plant, I was wondering how they got to know about this plant, and how on earth did they get their hands on it?
King Gerald had made sure he destroyed every poisonous plant that we could use to hurt the lycans. He hoarded the wolfsbane and every other poisonous plant or liquid that could hurt his people. Getting belladonna or wolfsbane is as difficult as booking an appointment to see the king. Even the king’s trusted warriors do not have access to these deadly poisons.
Not to mention the fact that they couldn’t have mixed the potion by themselves. They needed a strong witch or wizard that has been in this game for a long time. It is very tricky to get the mixture right. Getting the plants was one thing, mixing them to get the right results is another thing. These plants are deadly, the wrong mixture could kill the victim in seconds. It involves a bit of magic and lots of calculations and study. Only a great witch or wizard could get it right, and finding a witch or wizard these days is quite difficult as well.
She mentioned Elaine as the name of the witch that gave her the potions. If I’m not mistaken, I think she is referring to the great white witch, Elaine Mondrian. She is from a long line of wishes and to the best of my knowledge, they have never used their powers to harm anyone. She is one of the pitches I sought out in the forest close to the king’s courtyard, but I couldn’t find anyone of them there. Instead, I met with an impostor who made me poison my own people. But why is she helping these clowns to hurt the chosen one, why did they even leave their last location, have everyone suddenly gone mad?
They are not supposed to leave their home, the moon goddess places them in the forest at the back of the king’s courtyard for a reason. Their magic protects the king of all wolves, and they were always close by whenever the king needs them. Although they stole their powers from the magical powers the healers had stolen from the moon goddess several years ago, the moon goddess still allowed them to retain their powers because they deserve it more than the healers. You see, the healers already have a gift that was given to them by the moon goddess. They were healers, and that was all they were meant to buy. They didn’t delve into magic to protect the king or to help the people. It was sheer greed that made them engage in practices that has nothing to do with their gifts. Their greed is what had annoyed the moon goddess and that was why she wiped them off the surface of the earth.
Besides, apart from their greed, it was discovered that they weren’t going to use their powers for good. They were going to usurp the king and cause chaos in the lands. They couldn’t be allowed to possess such powers, it would have turned them into evil villains that cannot be controlled. The White witches were the perfect people to wield such powers, they never hurt anyone with their gifts, it was always used for good and they were always there for the king when he needs them and they worked pretty hard to maintain the peace amongst us. Good deeds and peace talks have been what they are known for, so I couldn’t help wondering why they had abandoned their duties, why the hell are they trying to hurt Valerie and steal her powers, what could have pushed them to this, what drove then out of their home, why weren’t we informed of their departure?
These questions keep turning and churning within me as I scrunched behind the car and waited for Liam and Valerie to get there. It’s obvious that Val is the reason why they haven’t gotten here yet, she is so tired and helpless. I feel so hurt in my heart as I watched her begging him this way, the fact that he acts as if she was at his mercy is even more annoying. Who the hell does he think he is, acting like a freaking god in front of my woman.
“Liam…
M… My love please, I’m dying slowly, I can’t breathe. W… whatever it is, we can sort it out amicably. I… I’m so sorry my love. I never meant to hurt you. I don’t know why you are treating me this way, but please stop. I can’t take it anymore.” she pleaded pathetically, but the dude was bent on telling his sob story, he just went on ranting like a fucking lunatic, spilling information that no one cares about.

He is one demented bastard. I think he is messed up in the head, he certainly needs to be checked into a facility or something. He sounds like a complete lunatic, and I couldn’t help feeling pity for him. He must have gone through a lot when she left it actually broke him. I guess he must have bottled up his feelings and hidden them petty well because if he had let it out, I’m sure he would have gotten the help he needs by now.
“I was no longer the most popular kid in school, girls no longer flocked around me, and I no longer had the clearance to go out as I please. I tried to reach you, Val. I needed comfort from the girl I risked everything to protect, I needed to make sure you were doing okay, and I needed to share my story with you and get comforted by you. I tried calling you Val, I tried and tried and tried, but what do I get?

I would have let everything he did to her go, but calling her a whore is just unacceptable. I stood up a d glared in their direction, and I would have stopped him straight away, but the vicious lady in the SUV beat me to it.

She doesn’t want to do all that, does she?
She doesn’t deserve the ha d of friendship you are extending to her, dear husband. She would only hurt you and trample on your love as she did before. Asking her about her past life won’t change the fact that she left you all along, she doesn’t deserve you, my love.
You are mine now, let’s get this over with before king Gerald finds out that we at trying to double-cross him. We won’t make it out alive if he finds out what we are up to, besides, the effects of the poison would wear off pretty soon, she could hurt us if she regains her strength and powers. We need to act now if we ever want to…”

You have no right to tell me what to do. This is why I signed up for this mission and you fucking know it. I want to hurt this whore, I want her to know how much I despise her. She needs to feel what I felt several years ago when she left me to face your father’s wrath. Do not take this away from me, Charr, don’t deprive me of a perfect chance to take revenge on this whore. I’ve let you have your way with me all these years, I let you use and control me as you desire, but not today, Charlotte. Today I’m going to get my revenge on Val, and there is nothing you or anyone else can do about it.” He stated firmly, shoving her aside as he dragged Val on the floor, dragging her to the car. She must have fallen down to the floor at some point, and he didn’t bother to pick her up, he simply picked up her long, beautiful legs and dragged her on the floor. I’m sure she would get some blisters after this ordeal. But that wasn’t my problem, she would find a way to get rid of the blisters, after all, she is the last true healer. My problem now is that these people seem to be too close to Val. They could be her friend from her childhood days. But why are they trying to hurt her now, did she do something to hurt them the way she did with Liam?
And if they succeed in stripping her of her powers, what the hell are they going to do with it, will they be able to harness her powers and use it?
“Fine, suit yourself, Liam!
You bastard!
How dare you remind me that our marriage was fixed by our parents?
I loved your stupid ass and I waited for you to ask me out. But you chose her instead, and you fucking tossed me aside. See what you caused for everyone?” she let out angrily, glaring daggers at him. But that’s not all, I heard the sound of the car door opening and shutting quietly as if the person coming out of the car does not want to be noticed. I could only see him because I’m hiding right behind that car. It seems it’s the stupid guy from earlier who kept asking stupid questions. From the look of things, the girl was giving hand signals to the guy while she engaged Liam in a fierce conversation to keep him busy and distracted.
It’s obvious they are both more dangerous than Liam, and they are about to double-cross him as well. I don’t know much about these two, but I certainly won’t let them get to Liam. I don’t want to be blamed for the death of my foreign investor, it’s a bad omen and it’s not good for business. And at the same time, I can’t leave Val in the hands of these two. Compared to Liam, these two are worse, and I’ll be damned if I let them take her out of my sight.
“Get your hands off her!” I scolded harshly from my hiding spot, drawing their attention to me.
“Who are you?
Come out to the open, I dare you!
I fucking dare you!
Show your face!” the girl screamed in my direction, and I almost laughed at her confidence. Does she actually think she can beat me in a fair fight?
Oh please…
She is nothing without the poison and potion that she gets from the witch. Even Valerie would have taken her out if she wasn’t poisoned.
“Let her go, right now!
I won’t repeat myself!
Trust me, you don’t want me to repeat myself!” I warned fiercely, scaring them even more.
