Michaels POV
It’s been six months since I came to Los Angeles and found my mate Arabella. I finally got the house renovated and my friends and I now live in the house of Brandon Wellington.
I left the house in Bella’s name, although she kept insisting that I change it to my name. I just don’t know how to make her understand that I really don’t care about those stupid documents, all I care about is her and I am so glad that she agreed to move in with me.
At first, she had stubbornly refused to move in with me, not because she doesn’t want to but she just doesn’t want to live in this house. She is so sentimental about this house, she said it reminds her of her parents.
I totally understand her reasons, who would want to stay in a house that my father had built for his family before he was brutally murdered. Worse still, she is even mated to the son of her father’s killer.
Damn!!
This is so messed up. It’s nothing short of a miracle that we are both together. She is so amazing. Her powers are getting stronger every day. I am teaching her how to use her powers to anticipate her opponent’s next move in a fight and she has been learning so rapidly, gaining more experience every day.
The rogues at have proven to be quite honest. Their leader, Alpha Smith has proven to be very loyal and understanding. He called a meeting and invited all the other rogue leaders, and I got to meet them all. They are good people and I hate my father for cheating them and causing them to live their lives in hiding.
Two months after my meeting with all the rogue leaders, I finally introduced Arabella to them. They were so shocked when they found out that the great white wolf is my mate. They all agreed that it is the work of the moon goddess, she made it that way so it would be so much easier for the great white to get into the palace. I was made her mate so I can help her to achieve her destiny and that’s exactly what am going to do.
I’ve managed to keep all this under wraps for the past six months. All I told my parents is that I have finally found my mate and soon, we will return to the palace.
Mom was super excited, she just couldn’t wait to meet my mate. Dad had no reaction to my good news, none at all. It’s not that I was expecting a reaction from him, but he just acted unconcerned about it, all he wanted to know was my progress with the task he assigned to me.
I lied to him, telling him that there are no rogues in Los Angeles. There is absolutely no way he’s going to find out about them. When I am crowned king, I would call the rogues together and he would have to apologize for all he did to them, including Arabella.
It’s 6:00 am in the morning. I was training with Derek and Brian. The girls are out so early. They are planning a surprise birthday party for Arabella’s human friend Debbie.
Debbie has been acting strangely according to Arabella. I don’t know her too well but I saw how close they were on the day I met them at the stream, the very first day that I set my eyes on my mate. They were so close that you would think that they were sisters. Arabella had confessed that she is the only friend she had.
They were so fucking close, which is why It is bothering me that she is avoiding her best friend because of a boy. Bella told me that her friend has a crush on her ex-boyfriend and she is acting this way simply because Bella left him for me. Isn’t that just weird?
Girls are just so complicated, I can never understand them. She claims she had been in love with this guy, even when he was with her friend Arabella. Now she has the chance to be with him but she still won’t have him because he has been with Arabella.
That’s so stupid, I mean so very stupid. As I said, girls are so damn complicated. I give up trying to understand them. It’s a good thing that Bella is not that difficult. She is just so sweet and amazing, so remarkable. Am so lucky to have her.
The girls are working on a surprise birthday party for Debbie and they are also trying to get Debbie and Declan together today. The D-couple as Celine calls them. Setting up the D-couple on a blind date, pretty cool if you ask me. Although it wouldn’t have come down to this if only Debbie wasn’t so stubborn. She should have just listened to her friend and just told that dude the truth. That would have saved Bella the stress of planning a blind date.
Am itching to see how this day ends, I really want their friendship to get back to how it used to be, it would make Bella so happy to see them together and happy.
I was sparring with Brian when I heard my phone ringing. It’s got to be Alpha Smith. He’s helping me plan some secret operation that would serve as our backup plan, just in case something happens to my original plan of keeping my father in the dark. I took a quick break and went to pick up my call.
Imagine my surprise when I found out the call was from my father. He doesn’t call me often and when he does, he only asks about the rogues, reminding me about my duty to people. I wonder why he’s calling me so early today.
“Good Morning dad,” I spoke into the receiver.
“How are you son?”
“Am fine dad, how’s mom.” I asked him back.
“Your mom is fine. There was a rogue attack in my palace. The rogues set the palace ablaze, claiming I am not their king. But we stopped it before it could escalate and luckily, no one got hurt during the attack. The fire could only destroy some part of the palace, no one got burnt.” he said brusquely.
I knew he was lying. The rogues have never left their camp since I bet them and they are not violent. I’ve met all the rogue leaders and I’ve worked with them too, they would never jeopardize the safety of their people. That is not their way, it’s all lies. I wondered what he hopes to gain with these horrible lies.
“Oh my God!!
That’s so horrible. Are you okay dad, did you manage to catch any of the rogues?” I asked him, feigning surprise, acting like I actually believe him.
“Am fine son, we weren’t able to catch any of them, they were just well coordinated and they were so fast. The council is not happy about it. They think that am getting too old for the job and they are asking me to step down and let you take over. I know I promised to let you stay in Los Angeles until your 80th birthday, but I think you would agree with me that you are needed in the palace.
You have found your mate and according to your reports, there are no rogues in Los Angeles. There’s actually no need for you to remain in Los Angeles when your people need you right now.
Come back home son, it’s time to wear the crown and shoulder your responsibility.” he ordered me in a cool tone, leaving no room for arguments.
I smiled as I thanked the moon goddess for making it so easy for Arabella and I to fulfill our destiny. I quickly agreed to his request, promising to be returned in a few days. He hung up after our call, leaving me all smiling and glowing.
I can’t believe that he’s finally stepping down. Arabella is going to rule beside me as my queen. I never asked about Alpha Roberts and his second daughter Clara since I refused their dumb proposal a few days before I left the palace. I hope he doesn’t try to make an issue when we get back because I wouldn’t think twice before putting him in his place.
“Guess what guys, am going to get crowned next week.” I screamed excitedly when I got back to my friends.
“Are you for real? How the hell did that happen?” Brian asked me with eyes as wide as a saucepan.
“Well, my father is finally stepping down. The council wants him to step down so I can be crowned king. Isn’t that so perfect?” I said happily.
“I don’t know man, but I just can’t shake off the feeling that something ain’t right. The King doesn’t budge easily. Why would he just agree to step down?
He doesn’t do anything without a reason. I smell something fishy.” Derek let out with a frown.
“Oh come off it man. He is long overdue. Be would have handed it over to me a long time ago, it took so long because I did not find Arabella on time. I think he’s really gonna hand over to me, there is no reason for him to lie to me.” I told them convincingly.
I must admit, his comment did raise my curiosity. Is he being honest with me?
Could he be up to something??
I need to let Arabella know, Phoenix would sense if there is danger. I’ll have to wait until after Debbie’s surprise party. I don’t want to upset her now. Let her fix her friend’s relationship, then we can decide if we would accept my father’s request or not.
